I am asking for prayers for a good friend of mine. His name is Chad Wright and we grew up together. He is in the hospital in Oklahoma after crashing his crop-dusting plane. He has a severe back injury and is scheduled for surgery on Tuesday on his vertebrae and ribs. His folks have seen the wreckage and are amazed that he survived. All he ever wanted to do was fly and it seems that he was not flying alone -- he must have had a guardian angel. I will update as soon as I get more. Thanks much.

A former U.S. Justice Department official disclosed to Arutz-7 that former U.S. President Jimmy Carter’s advocacy extended beyond the Palestinians, when he interceded on behalf of a Nazi SS man. Neil Sher, a veteran of the U.S. Justice Department’s Office of Special Investigation, described a letter he received from Carter in 1987 in an interview with Israel National Radio’s Tovia Singer. The letter, written and signed by Carter, asked that Sher show “special consideration” for a man proven to have murdered Jews in the Mauthausen death camp in Austria. “In 1987, Carter had been out of office for seven years...

Don Feder delivered the following speech to the Americans for A Safe Israel National Conference (“America And Israel – The Present Danger”) held in New York City on December 3, 2006. – The Editors. You have a problem. It’s a problem shared by Jews in Hebron, Serbs in Kosovo, Hindus in the Kashmir, Catholics in Lebanon, and Americans walking the streets of New York. Consider the inter-connectedness of the following incidents, all of which took place in the past few months: In Indonesia, three Christian schoolgirls were beheaded. In Iraq, a Syrian Orthodox priest was kidnapped, tortured, and murdered. In...

The unsurprising victory of Venezuelan song and dance artist Hugo Chavez in his re-election bid on Sunday was warmly welcomed around the world. Chavez friends in Cuba, Bolivia and Nicaragua were pleased. Castro and Daniel Ortega must think someone flipped a switch and they’re back in the early 1980s – only this time, there’s no President Reagan and no Contras. The Iranian Foreign ministry welcomed the Chavez victory, and didn’t even threaten to raise oil prices to $200 per barrel. That’s for next week. Al Jazeera knew the results even before the votes were cast, and showed Chavez with Mahmoud...

In its second day, HizbAllah’s offensive in Lebanon against the democratically elected Government has maintained pressures on various levels. Following are the main axis of activities: HizbAllah’s deployment By mid week end, several thousands of HizbAllah’s members, cadres and officers have settled inside downtown Beirut, surrounding the Prime Minister’s office. The militia erected dozens of tents in a military fashion, with 30 fighters in each tent. Sources from the Lebanese Army described the “deployment” of the tents as a bivouac-maneuvering of about three brigades, “clearly following the Iranian military code,” said the sources. By late Saturday evening early Sunday morning,...

“I have travelled to all the continents except for one,” Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said recently, “and I know what is going on out there. Everybody is eager to hear the Iranian people’s message. The world is rapidly becoming Ahmadinejadised.” And he’s right: Ahmadinejadization is spreading. Its symptoms are clear from his Friday letter to the American people. Addressed to “Noble Americans,” in the letter Ahmadinejad calls on America to withdraw from Iraq, end support for Israel, and convert to Islam. If we do those three things, peace will ensue: we’ll be…Ahmadinejadized. “Now that Iraq has a Constitution and an...

“I extend my hand in peace to our Palestinian neighbors, hoping it will not be rejected,” Ehud Olmert said in a speech on Monday. He added: The uncompromising radicalism of your terror organizations—the Hamas, Jihad, the Aksa Martyrs’ Brigade and other organizations—did not bring you closer to attaining the goal which I am convinced many of you share: the establishment of a Palestinian state, which will guarantee you a future of prosperity and which will exist in good neighborly relations side-by-side with the State of Israel. On what basis is Olmert convinced that many Palestinians share the goal of living...

An al-Qaeda manual made a surprise reappearance on October 31st in a new repackaged, reformatted edition on an online jihadi forum associated with the terrorist organization. The manual, A Guide for the Undecided on the Legitimacy of Killing Christians, (Irshad al-Hayara fi Ibahat Dimaa al-Nasara) made its first appearance back in September 2002, published by the al-Qaeda “think tank,” the now defunct Center for Islamic Research and Study, in their bi-weekly magazine, Sawt al-Jihad (The Voice of Jihad). Translated excerpts from the 56-page manual, authored by Hafid Abu-Basir, are available from the Site Institute. But republication of this manual in...

On October 11, 2006, the Center for Inquiry in New York City presented the first event of its annual Voices of Reason series, a lecture by Salman Rushdie. Rushdie was introduced by Ibn Warraq, senior research fellow at the Center and author of Why I am not a Muslim. Rushdie took questions from the audience read by the Center for Inquiry’s Program Director, Susan Jacoby. You can also hear a "Point of Inquiry" podcast with Rushdie here. Although FrontPage Magazine does not necessarily agree with every concept in the discourse, he offers many powerful insights in this address. -- The...

Insofar as ethnic group politics are concerned, it may very well be the case that American Jewry has more riding on the results of today's Congressional elections than any other American ethnic group. The current issue of Commentary magazine includes an article entitled, "Dual Loyalty and the 'Israel Lobby'" by Gabriel Schoenfeld. Schoenfeld describes succinctly the corrosive impact that the work of two political science professors, John Mearshimer from the University of Chicago, and Steven Walt from Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government, has had on the position of American Jewry. He then explains what the warm reception their work...

This is a shortened version of a speech given by Wolf Biermann in Israel this October. It originally appeared in Die Zeit on October 26, 2006. Author and songwriter Wolf Biermann was born in Hamburg in 1936 into a Jewish communist working class family in Hamburg. His father was a member of the organised resistance and was murdered in the concentration camp Auschwitz. In 1953 he chose to move to the GDR,where as a staunch communist he became one of the regime's fierce critics. In 1976 he was denaturalised and has since lived in Hamburg. Biermann is known for his...

On October 9, 2006, Kim Jong Il apparently backed up his bluster and detonated a nuclear device in a test area northeast of the capitol of Pyongyang. So now, faced with a North Korea openly nuclear, what is the world – and more importantly, America - expected to do? Last week, when North Korea was pulling yet another threat from a seemingly bottomless basket, the world community immediately went into predictable reaction mode: running in ever-decreasing concentric circles around their desks while shrieking “the sky is falling.” The New York Times editorial page even pulled the much-maligned phrase “domino theory”...

Two news items from last week speak volumes about the Democratic Party’s priorities on national security. First, Democratic majorities in the House and Senate -- including all the presidential aspirants -- voted against the Military Commissions Act of 2006, which authorized military tribunals to try terrorist suspects and established guidelines for their aggressive interrogation. Then, late on Thursday, 177 House Democrats voted to thwart the passage of the Electronic Surveillance Modernization Act, which expanded electronic surveillance of terrorists on foreign soil. Civil liberties dogmatists like the ACLU applauded these obstructionist efforts, but they came to naught. Both pieces of legislation...

On August 12, two days before the ceasefire in Lebanon took hold, Ari Shavit, a prominent Israeli journalist and contributor to the New Yorker, published an opinion piece in the liberal Hebrew daily Haaretz, for which he writes regularly. A blistering attack on Israel’s government and army, it held both of them responsible for a “wartime failure” caused by “faulty intelligence,” a “delusional logistical network,” “improper preparedness,” and “scandalous strategic bumbling,” and it pinned the blame for the debacle on the post-Zionist outlook of Israel’s “elites.” These elites, Shavit declared, with their unending attacks, both direct and indirect, on nationalism,...

Acts of submission. The term was Winston Churchill's description of the different methods that had been employed by British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain and his supporters to appease Hitler and Italian dictator Benito Mussolini in the 1930's. Chamberlain was appeasing, Churchill said, "in the hope that by great and far-reaching acts of submission, not merely in sentiment and pride, but in material matters, peace may be preserved." He went on to warn, correctly, of just how foolish -- and -- dangerous this would be to England. If followed in a linear fashion, through the maze of late 20th century American...

The belief in a peaceful solution to the Israeli-Palestinian or Arab-Israeli conflict persists like a demonic possession. Those who believe Israel essentially confronts an ongoing siege, religiously rooted in Islam, adduce evidence for that view overwhelming rates of anti-Semitism in every Arab country, Nazi-style anti-Semitic propaganda and imagery throughout the Arab world, majorities of Palestinians saying they favor suicide bombings and the dissolution of Israel, and so on. But for true believers in a peaceful solution, evidence does not avail. Whether motivated by an impatience with Israel s existence (possibly tinged with anti-Semitism) and its perceived costs for Western stability...

In the 1980s movie “Network” the most memorable scene is the tired old TV anchor yelling at the world from his New York apartment window, “I’m mad as hell and can’t take it anymore!” Across the country millions of Americans are hitting the wall in similar frustration. What’s driving them nuts? The inability of most of our fellow citizens to defend themselves in the culture wars. For more than two decades our free speech has been stifled by a blanket of political correctness that has smothered civil discourse. We are in a war, for goodness sake, and can’t even speak...

Of the many wrong lessons the Clinton presidency taught us, the cheap apology is one that continues to haunts us. The world became accustomed to America -- through our lip-quivering president -- apologizing reflexively for every offense, real or imagined. Apologies have since become expensive. Because the radical Islamists demand -- and we supply -- an endless stream of apologies for conduct that is either entirely justified or inoffensive, they are winning their campaign of intimidation. Like Hitler's Brownshirt "Sturm Abteilung," the Islamofascists seek political dominance by violence and intimidation. And we, like the Weimar Republic before us, are letting...

A panel set up by the Israeli government to look into incompetence in the recent war with Hezbollah may and should draw on American testimony to determine the truth. It is now official: On Sunday, September 17, 2006, the Israel Cabinet Secretary Yisrael Maimon announced that the government of Israel convened an official judicial panel to examine the Israeli government's “ill preparedness” in the wake of the war in Lebanon during Summer 2006. This falls short of an official government commission of investigation that some Israeli reserve officers and families of fallen soldiers have demanded. However, the Israel Cabinet Secretary...

Pope Benedict’s brief quotation of a medieval Byzantine emperor’s critique of Islam excited global Muslim indignation, very predictably. But maybe equally as revealing is the response to the Church of England’s Archbishop of York, who suggested that Muslims heed Jesus’ admonition to “love they neighbor.” The head of the Muslim Council of Britain told the archbishop that British Muslims have absolutely no intention of “turning the other cheek.” A native of Uganda, the Archbishop of York might have a little more spiritual fortitude than the typical Anglican cleric in Britain. He was giving a lecture about Islamic terrorists on September...
