  • GOP considers releasing intel behind memo alleging FISA abuses

Yeah, I’ve held TS and higher clearances.

    Yeah, I know about declassification.

Only one problem here: Viewed in the context of the quantity and “quality” of information leaked or sold over the past 8-10 years by hillary ONLY, the likelihood of release of anything new right now has got to be infinitesimal.

Outside of possibly putting their whole staff to sleep, the biggest concern Black Hat intel would have would be to keep from laughing at all this CLUSTER...

Maybe instead of worrying about that boogeyman, those geniuses inside The Beltway should devote a few man-years to Damage Control. Along with updating their resumes for their next gig.

    Got a couple of points:

    >Release everything. I don’t want to hear nuance. I don’t want to see redaction. Most of all, I don’t want to hear any more lame excuses...from ANYBODY.

    >Don’t even bother sending it via the media. I don’t trust any of them as far as I’d trust Bill Clinton with a female of any species you can name. SEND IT TO ME....DIRECT, AND MAKE IT QUICK.

I don’t want to leave my work, home and family to come back to DC and get this stuff and you TRULY don’t want to have to deal with me if I have make that trip.

    Any questions?

I’ve begun to think that those NeverTrumpers very well may be as stone dirty Swamper as anyone and are simply showing their true colors.

....while they frantically try to grab the last bit of loot and scrub away the evidence of their past criminality.

I’m done with all of them.

They are afraid they can't control Trump.

Worse even than that, they're REALLY becoming concerned about their control on us.

    No, Kaslin’s right.

    We don’t have any proof.

All we do have is a whole bunch of....well, curiosities.

JMHO, best thing to do is keep on gathering them up and stick them all in a nice tidy file with an appropriate label (The old english phrase “Too Clever By Half” strikes me as a reasonable choice) until the day that either those accumulated curiosities begin to brew and meld and stink just a bit and “somebody” talks a bit too much and a really bright prosecutor hauls some decrepit old hulk (and equally ancient accomplices) up on long-overdue charges. While we sit and chuckle and share some nice fresh popcorn.

Meantime, we can be patient. Gathering curiosities almost demands it since hurrying could lead to missing something absolutely vital.

Ain’t a Statute of Limitations on stuff like this anyway and I always have been partial to having my revenge or justice served very, very cold.

"Trump didn’t invent this. He didn’t cause people to start feeling this way. He’s tapping into a vein that already existed..."

That "vein", in my case, dates back to the early, early 60's.

....which was also about the time that I really began to read and listen to them.

By the time I finished active duty in '69, that "vein" was a Mother Lode and if anything today's media is orders of magnitude worse.

I not only do not trust the media, I consider them to be the worst enemy this country has ever faced.

...the suburban housewife the media claims is bailing.

Might be a limited cadre of respondents, but our daughters (including the youngest who's been fairly lib in the past) are both to the point of spittin' on the ground when a 'rat (particularly Hilly or The 0) gets mentioned.

In addition, I've seen a whole bunch of times over the past six months when customers in a place where CNN (especially) is running on the store's TV go and ask that either the channel get changed or just shut the set off completely.

Maybe I just live in a really, REALLY conservative area or those media punks are dwelling in a dream world.

Cooks in the sub fleet were OK

It was held amongst us Permanent Shore Duty types that Navy cooks who were anything but outstanding and got put on board anything got out of sight of dry land had two options:

    Become outstanding

Request Shore Duty (before you "accidentally" fell overboard...or, in the case of bubbleheads, didn't make it out of New London).

Soon the cardinals will come and a dog might catch a squirrel-rodent.

Squirrel-rodent? Well, my Dad always called 'em Tree Rats...

As far as Signs of Spring are concerned, I'm going to have to wait for that two feet of snow in the yard to at least begin to melt. Which is going to be a while, since the last forecast I saw said we could get another 3-6 inches in the next couple days and I haven't seen a Tree Rat in public since Thanksgiving....

Friend of mine in town was musing the other day about going out and buying a snow blower, in fact. Only drawbacks beside "bein' plumb spendy" (aka expensive in MontanaSpeak) was that he didn't have a place to store it and "I know damn well that I do buy one and that'll be the last snow I see."

I think he finally settled on corralling one of his grandkids and having him shovel....

Well, that batch of grits I got at Great Lakes was

    1) Served up around 9:30PM by a cook who seemed a tad irritated about having his TV time interrupted by actual work.

    2) Still in a great big mixer bowl right fresh out of the freezer, no condiments or utensils in sight.

...I’m afraid that combination soured me on both grits and Navy cooks for good. (My opinion of the cooks only got lower after getting stuck in Training Commands for most of my “career”....)

Maybe we’ll do some running a bit south of Denver this next summer and try some REAL grits, just on your recommendation.

...never too late to learn things.

Why grits didn’t stay on in the North with Europeans is a mystery.

Could just be that Scandinavians and the Celts/English (I'm half Norwegian and the rest Welsh/Scots/Irish, BTW) had potatoes as a staple long before they got exposed to corn.

All of my grandparents figured that corn (outside of novelties like popcorn and sweet corn) was best used for drinkin' and feed for the cattle...which were then served up as their Meat-and-Potatoes daily meal.

Breakfast? Bacon and eggs or oatmeal.

I’ll pass on grits, maybe some key lime pie with extra cool whip but pass on grits....

With all due respect to the South, I've long held that the two poorest applications of the noble corn plant are:

Grits (My very first Navy meal on entering Boot Camp and the last time I'd touch it with a ten-foot pole.)

Ethanol used as a motor fuel (Although this late entry should properly be the first mentioned here....)

“But let me say this. I am a superstitious man, a ridiculous failing but I must confess it here. And so if some unlucky accident should befall my youngest son, if some police officer should accidentally shoot him, if he should hang himself while in his jail cell, if new witnesses appear to testify to his guilt, my superstition will make me feel that it was the result of the ill will still borne me by some people here. Let me go further. If my son is struck by a bolt of lightning I will blame some of the people here. If his plane show fall into the sea or his ship sink beneath the waves of the ocean, if he should catch a mortal fever, if his automobile should be struck by a train, such is my superstition that I would blame the ill will felt by people here. Gentlemen, that ill will, that bad luck, I could never forgive......”

That is warm for your neck of the woods.

Yeah, it's also what's known around here as The Warm Before the Storm.

Fronts come off the Pacific, get piled up on the West side of the mountains and the winds coming down the hill ahead of 'em warm everything up. Better enjoy it, 'cause in 20-30 hours, the temps are going to drop toward the teens and the snow's goin' to fly. Again.

Just gives me time to finish plowing out to the county road, get the parking area between the house and the sheds cleared and run everything over to top off the gas/diesel for the next event.

My Grandpa sure had it nailed when he told me, "We get too soon old and too late smart."

...which is 22 miles from Key West.

That 22 miles is just about Grandma's daily drive to our daughter's place. And we're in the crowded part of Montana. (Not counting cows.)

I was working out in the NE corner of the state a few years ago where everybody closed business right after lunch on Friday so they could go shopping and/or do doctor's appointments. Billings, which is just over 300 miles. One way. Snowy roads standard 4 or 5 months out of the year.
