  • My Christopher Buckley Experience

    First hand knowledge
In either the last week of August or the first week of September, 1970, just before I arrived at college, I had the extraordinary experience of going to Sharon, Connecticut, to the home of William Buckley. With several hundred other young conservatives (I was 17), I gathered for a couple days to validate my totally-against-the-crowd perception of life, a perception inspired in large part by William Buckley, one of the giants of the 20th century. Buckley's inspiration was not a new or different perception of life. To the contrary, his perception was an explication of life, a logical and spiritual...

In this war we are in, the one to conserve the best of what mankind has learned, the deepest question is one whose answer may go against us, and whose implications may be the millstone around our neck. The question is not new. It is old. It is the question about the powerful influence of religious belief on the affairs of mankind. Every sentient human mind necessarily considers God. Most humans, from whatever time or place, have come to a belief about God. It may be inculcated from birth, or taken after considerable open-minded thought. In the war we are...

I say this with total respect for Christians, Jews, and anyone else who does not worship mohammed, as the slaves of islam do: The worshippers of mohammed, mohammedans, pretend that Judeo-Christian history is their own. It is a "history" found in mohammed-worship theology (the silly-goofy koran is the primary source) only because not-so-smart mohammed was a sociopath who incorporated elements of other religions while he was devising his own religion designed to associate mohammed with allah. The irony of islam is that, for rational folks, it is a direct challenge to any basis of faith. The worship of mohammed is...

The Hope of The West, Is with the Hopeless of mohammed-worship Half the folks on FR cannot conceive of criticizing religion, period. To these Freepers, belief in religion is the measure of a person's goodness, and perhaps of their sanity and their judgment too. Consequently, there are a good many conservatives on this board who cannot bring themselves to understand or to oppose the grave threat of islam to the beautiful, astonishing and purely American gift to the world, liberty and freedom. Personally, I am an agnostic who has the utmost respect for religion, for the belief in God, for...

10 WAYS TO FIGHT MOHAMMED-WORSHIP The worship of mohammed, which is inspired by islam (the made-up mess of a book called the koran, the hadith, the sira), has a nihilist view of existence, as do all the totalitarian belief systems thought up and implemented by demented, hating men. Paradise is always on the horizon; destruction, violence, hatred, sadism, pain and death, always on the march toward the ever-receding goal; in this case, until you get the promised sex orgy in heaven. Bombs and soldiers are not anywhere close to the answer in confronting totalitarianism. Nor is merely the will to...

It is inevitable. Some prominent American will want to be the first on his block to pronounce the shahada and become an official worshipper of mohammed. The publicity will be too delicious, and the ego-augmentation unmatched. The desire to associate such a successful assassin, murderer, rapist, misogynist, slave-holder and all-around in-your-facer with The One True God, is nothing compared to the lure of a celebro-american associating himself with the mosque of what's happening now. Cynthia McKinney and John Conyers do not count. Neither does Noam Chomsky. The CNN-worthy frisson of "reversion" has to be present for this prediction to be...

With most of the Western world in denial, ignorance or some degree of acquiesence before the dream of islamic hegemony, it is at least encouraging that all of a sudden a discussion has arisen among those westerners not so afflicted, whether we should identify the ideology of our enemies as fascist. It is encouraging because it might, perhaps, signal a sense that it is becoming more commonly acceptable in our societies to think of our enemies as not nice people. Maybe our reluctance to give offense is giving way, to some degree, to the foreboding that horrible suffering and death...

Listen, some people like to concede defeat. I don't. I prefer, in Iraq, to concede victory. We won in Iraq; we've inadvertently created a situation which will inevitably lead to demoralization and division within the Camp of Islam. If only we have the good sense to recognize it and stop trying to prevent the result that is devoutly to be wished. It was all inevitable -- the day the regime was deposed. It was inevitable whether or not Turkey had allowed in a fourth division to invade from the north. It was inevitable whether the number of troops that went...

Don't you remember the utter let-down when elder Bush broke the fundamental promise he made, "No new taxes"? The promise was not merely a bow to the Laffer curve, it was an emotional and pyschological statement to the many people in this country who still believe in constitutional goverment, and who knew that taxation was the means to undermine constitutional government, liberty and freedom, to put it another way. The younger Bush promised a Thomas or Scalia for the same reasons: to tell the believers in constitutional government that supporting him would mean a definitive change in the jurisprudence of...

Here is another view of Miers, just as speculative as what anyone else says. She is a political hack. People dont know this, but being president of a bar association does not mean you are a good lawyer, necessarily, it could also mean you are a very good self-promoter. Actually, my speculation is that it means your primary aim in life is pure self-promotion unburdened by any dedication to the law, as opposed to dedication to your status within the lawyer community, and thus within the wider (gullible) community. Being the managing partner of even a large law firm implies...

The Chinese ideogram for crisis is composed of two separate characters: one means danger and the other means opportunity. Today Iran is in crisis. There lies a great danger as well as a great opportunity. The Islamic Republic of Iran (IRI) is a great danger to the world peace and your life. The Mullahs ruling Iran are developing atomic bombs and this means disaster for humanity.

When summit talks between Japan and the United States were recently held at US President George W Bush's Texas ranch, Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi put emphasis on the need for "communication and pressure" toward the most worrying factor in East Asia, North Korea. In Japan there has been a general public displeasure with the soft line on North Korea by Japanese diplomacy and the ruling Liberal Democratic Party; therefore, commentators and the public were overjoyed with the prime minister's tougher remarks. "Honesty is the best policy." That's an aphorism which used to be widely displayed in stores many years ago. Not a statement of morality, but a statement about the practical application of morality to everyday life. By displaying the aphorism, stores were saying, "we are honest because it is good for business." Telling the truth, dealing openly and above board with others, has the benefit of simple expediency. Honesty in the long run is the most efficient way of approaching life, regardless of the temporary setbacks honesty might occasionally cause. A related aphorism is: "You dont have to teach a ...

Pandora's Precedent By Terence P. Jeffrey You can read the Constitution backwards and forwards, but you will never find where it says: "The Supreme Court shall determine the outcome of presidential elections." This was not an oversight by the Framers. It was their express design. But now it may join the Senate’s duty to remove criminal Presidents, and the Congress’ authority to declare war, among those inconvenient details of constitutional fact that even Republicans won’t abide by anymore. Electing George W. Bush President was the right end of the Florida recount debacle, but judicial fiat was the wrong means. Someday ...

We heard it over and over, for weeks and weeks: it was a dead heat, too close to call, the closest election since 1960. It was repeated breathlessly by the Soviet media despite the fact that every poll showed W leading, as we on FR recognized. Most speculation on FR centered on the supposed crude, Soviet-style manipulation of the electorate as the explanation for this blatant behavior. Altho the popular vote loss/electoral vote win scenario was wildly speculative (sort of like this post?) it was embraced and eagerly disseminated by the Soviet media, including the hoary use of "experts" ...

It occurs to me that the Buffalo Bills are a good metaphor for the conservative movement. Disrespected, discounted, ignored, they nonetheless have been one of the most successful NFL teams for ten years because they adopted a philosophy of drafting or acquiring players of character. They are the ultimate "no-name" team, who play together out of a love for the purity and resiliance of the game, regardless of the hotdogging and media-beloved vanity of other teams. By the way, did I mention that the Bills beat the Pack today?
  • Query: sources for Rodham and Black Panthers

The local station broadcasting the debate between Rodham and Rick on 9/13 is soliciting questions from the public. I want to submit, as a question to the death-eater: "Do you regret your legal and political support of the Black Panthers, especially in light of their anti-semitic agenda?" I know I have a snowball's chance of getting it asked, but I will try. What I need are backup sources I can send to the station so they can see that it is not a bad faith question.
  • NY Dem Primary, 9 /12

I wish to remind people who live in NY or who know Democrats who live in New York, that the dem primary takes place next Tuesday. I have personally gotten the commitment of nine dems who will without doubt vote for the good doctor, Rodham's opponent. Four of them did not know she had an opponent, but despise Rodham and are ashamed she is even running. Please lobby any dem you know to vote in this primary against her. It is a very very long shot, but if the good doctor can do even modestly well, it will re-inforce ...

Talk about self-hating Jews ... without belittling that concept whatsoever .... is there a more general analogy to self-hating Americans? Beyond the lies, the corruption, the breathtaking immorality of reducing all others to human garbage (rape victims, travel office employees, FOBs, etc etc) ... beyond all that, is the calculated arrogance of the sociopath (Bill or Hill) who assumes that just enough other people are sufficiently stupid for the sociopath to get away with anything. Is it not mind-boggling that the adolescent sociopath and his deatheating companion have not long ago been laughed off the stage by Americans who ...

The Buffalo Bills beat the Houston Oilers .... ... er .... I mean the Gore Titans .... in a great great game. Buffalo is going to win the Superbowl. And they are going to represent New Yorkers .... not the Giants (New Jersey) .... not the Jets (New Jersey) and not Hillary (Hell)

In her latest column for Human Events, commenting upon Algore's DNC speech, AC says: Gore is saying to single mothers and frightened women: Don't worry, the federal government will be your husband, it will provide you with daycare, pre-school, and health care. And it will pay for it by taking money from men, who ought to be your husbands -- 'the powerful.' This is a vision of America in which the federal government plays Georger Burns to a populace of batty Gracie Allens.

Millions Participate In Cuban Version Of Survivor HAVANA, CUBA--Inspired by the hit CBS show Survivor, Cuba's 11 million citizens are participating in their own version of the popular island-survival game. "I hope very much to make it to next week," said contestant Livan Ordonez, eating a rat as part of a "Starvation-Immunity Challenge" during last Wednesday's episode. "If I do not survive, who will provide for the Ordonez Tribe?" Under the somewhat altered rules for Cuban Survivor, contestants who fail to remain on the island are declared the winners.

One: I am an enrolled Conservative here in NY (so I cant vote), but I have four dem friends who are SOLID (at my urging) in their promise to vote for the good doctor against Rodham on 9-12. I believe by then I can rustle up a couple more and perhaps a half dozen more. I realize as one person, this is peanuts. But it is so important that a retail campaign take place by all of you who are in NY, or have NY connections, to persuade your dem connections to vote in the primary for the good ...
