I am interested in registering a couple of domain names, but I am not sure which company to go with...GoDaddy seems decent, but a number of customers have complained about them being 'pushy'. Namecheap has good testimonials, but there are several drawbacks, as well. I thought I would solicit feedback from Freepers to see if there is a consensus of opinion.

As readers of the garden thread already know; I grow loads of vegetables to supplement my wife's diet in order to manage her diabetic condition. My wife is under tremendous stress due to a dispute with neighbors here in Red Hampshire. This has been a contributing factor in the deterioration of her pancreas, and she is now on insulin. The other night, my wife was awakened by one of our Siamese rescue cats sniffing and poking around her face. This is a rescue cat that is considered 'her' cat. He waits at the door for her to come home from...

A little confluence of events this week has brought to the fore of my mind the sad, sick reality that most people in this culture are so far gone that they WANT to be lied to, and will seek out and attach themselves to liars. While it is nauseating to behold, it is also interesting in a clinical sort of way. First, I helped some guys out in outing a con artist blogger earlier this week. What was fascinating was watching people cling to their "friend" even while being beaten over the head with objective evidence over and over and...

    1. A cattleman at a school I just taught, during lunchtime conversation, shared a "mini lesson" that he teaches to children whenever he gets the chance. I think it is very wise, and worth sharing. It is simply this: EVERYONE HAS A STORY. And, SATAN IS REAL. 2. Building on that, I suspect many people out there are thinking this, but are too afraid to say it because they think that people will look down upon them as rednecks or stupid or unintelligent. Let me go out front as a person who doesn't give a crap what others think of...

It's official - Henry Cavill will play Clark Kent/Superman in the upcoming Zack Snyder-directed and Christopher Nolan-produced "Superman" reboot. British thesp Cavill ("The Tudors," "Whatever Works," "Stardust") previously came close to scoring the role in "Superman Returns" when McG was to direct, but ultimately missed out when Bryan Singer took over and cast Brandon Routh. The very handsome 6'1, 27-year-old model and actor was also up for the role of James Bond in "Casino Royale" alongside Daniel Craig and Sam Worthington, Craig eventually winning the part. In recent years he's become known for his role as Charles Brandon, the close...

Official announcement came today that the comic book publisher that put “Truth, Justice, and the American Way” on the map will get a nod from the US Post Office next year, when DC Comics characters get their own postage stamps, this according to a USPS release listing the various stamp designs coming in 2006. “Our 2006 program commemorates a wide range of diverse American icons with something that will appeal to everyone,'' Postmaster General John E. Potter said in announcing the planned designs. One touch of reality though – the new stamps of 2006 will cost 39 cents, as the...

My apologies in advance on this story; I just happened to catch this on several different newscasts a few minutes ago, and I am going by memory as best I can. Unicoi County (Tennessee) sheriffs arrested two Israeli men after a high-speed chase down mountain roads in this east Tennessee locale. While the sheriff was in pursuit, local witnesses noticed that materials were being thrown from the truck as it sped by, well over the posted speed limits. These witnesses were able to locate some of these items; one of which included a jug whose contents became "unusually hot" after...

I am really getting fed up with Comcast Cable. The people of east Tennessee have been fighting with Comcast for a couple of years to get them to add Fox News Channel to their line-up. Last year, we were "promised" that FNC would be added to the cable system in February 2001. Then we were told that "negotiations had fallen through", and that there would be NO Fox News Channel for the foreseeable future. On several subsequent occasions, staffers at our local Com(mie)cast office told me "not to hold my breath" while waiting for FNC to be added to our...

I was the recipient of a very pleasant surprise when I retrieved my weekly copy of the conservative newspaper, HUMAN EVENTS, from my mailbox a few minutes ago. On page 12, in Joe D'Agostino's 'Conservative Spotlight' column, my eye was caught immediately by a black-and-white photo of Free Republic founder Jim Robinson! My wife and I just listened to one of the most powerful and chilling renditions of the Star Spangled Banner that either of us have ever heard. I did not catch the young man's name, but I know that he was 15 years old, and I believe he was part of the San Francisco Boys' Choir. You remember listening to Jim Nabors' portrayal of 'Gomer Pyle' on various network shows in the 60's, and how stunned you were when you heard him sing for the first time? Based on the context of the threads appearing on Free Republic over the past few days, it is evident that frustration level among conservatives has reached the breaking point. Many among us are outraged by relatives and acquaintances who continue to whole-heartedly endorse the clinton-gore crime syndicate. Others have suggested assorted boycotts of one kind or another. I would combine elements of both that may prove a source of relief to many of us, while at the same time, financially benefitting Free Republic. What I propose is this: many have suggested an "economic slowdown" over the upcoming holiday period as ...

Absolutely amazing. I really don't know where to start. After hearing yesterday that Governor Bush would be appearing locally today at noon, I made arrangements to be downtown bright and early to secure a ticket for the rally. (Totally unnecessary, as it turned out.) On my way home, I drove by Gore/Lieberman headquarters in Johnson City. I always drive by their headquarters with the window down because I enjoy the sounds of all the crickets chirping...very peaceful. Country music star Hank Williams, Jr. is scheduled to open up the festivities for Mr. Bush beginning at 11:15 a.m. Tickets will be available at Republican Headquarters in Washington and Sullivan Counties (and probably others, the media didn't specify) and at Tri-Cities Airport before the rally. Folks, this is one of the funniest half-hours' of television I have EVER seen! I am a big fan of Ben Stein; I enjoy his column in the American Spectator, and I admire him for his vigorous pro-life stand. As a result, I try to catch his show on Comedy Central, "Win Ben Stein's Money", as often as possible. Tonight, they had three contestants whose resemblance to the First Family was unbelievable! They had Chelsea, Hillary, and Bill himself! Although "Chelsea" was a little lame, the contestant portraying Hillary was practically her double, especially in the hair and cheekbones. They ...

According to the crawler on CNN Headline News, K-Mart's profits for the first quarter of year 2000 are DOWN roughly 60 PER CENT from the first quarter of 1999! This represents a DROP from 56 million to 22 million! I REALLY hope this was due to American gun owners turning their back on K-Mart for using gun-grabber Rosie O'Donnell as their spokesblimp.

I was looking for a sign, size 18 x 24 or so with patriotic colors of red, white, and blue. Much to my surprise, the sign shop stated that they could deliver two such magnetic signs for only $55!!! On Oliver North's show today, the topic of the destiny of John McCain's supporters was being discussed. At the top of the second hour, North was having a discussion with a Republican strategist by the name of Peter Roth(?). Mr. Roth postulated that the outcome of all the in-fighting between Bush and McCain was of no relevance, because McCain would wind up being the running mate of George Bush. North, obviously surprised, asked Mr. Roth if he really believed that the Republican ticket would be Bush/McCain. Roth's reply? BANK ON IT!

This is my first post, so please be kind. During Mr. Clinton's address this morning at Arlington National Cemetery, he made reference to "the remains of three more United States servicemen lost during the Korean War...they're coming home tonight." At 11 a.m., I was listening to the news at the top of the hour on CBS Radio (don't flame me; I was waiting for a stock market report), and I distinctly heard that "the three Korean War veterans would be coming home with the flag of the UNITED NATIONS draped over their coffins."
