Also, I appreciate your frustration in dealing with your Italian cousins. Some of my own are German, from Germany (I'm a first generation American). We have a tradition at Thanksgiving of going around the dinner table and saying what we are thankful for.

Last Thanksgiving I went all the way to Milwaukee, where six German relatives were present who had flown over from the old country, and I had to listen to three disgusting hours of European Bush Derangement Syndrome. One old cousin stated that he had read where Airforce 1 had flown into Ohio in 2004 and picked up ALL of the voting machines in Ohio. My mother's sister, to her credit, finally got pissed off enough to tell the old fool that he probably would have believed anything Hitler said also.

Anyway, to make a long story short, when my turn came to say what I was thankful for, I said that I was thankful for Adolf Hitler. THAT brought absolute silence and some facial expressions which you might see on people watching an imminent train wreck.

I said that if Hitler hadn't started World War Two, my grandparents wouldn't have been bombed out of their home, they wouldn't have become displaced persons, they wouldn't have then emigrated to the United Staes, and I might still be a goddamned European.

Being up here in the UP, I have access to a lot of Canadian news. Several years ago I recall seeing a piece where then Canadian Prime Minister Jean Chretien was going through a line of people and greeting them. This guy came up to Chretien and said something rude, got in his face, and much as I disagree with Chretien's politics, he reacted properly by throwing an extremely hard right hook into the guy's cheek. Actually, my experience over the last 10 or 12 years has been that GM makes the best cars and trucks. My father has a business which utilizes a fleet of all three makes, and the municipality I worked for for 11 years has a similar fleet. I've driven GM, Ford, and Chrysler products, and hands down, I'll take a Chevy any day. Ford cars were the worst, though they make a decent truck. Dodges were OK, but they really drink up gas and the tranny's seem to go to shit early.

What's the consensus here at FR on buying GM stock, which ended the day at $3.09 a share? Is it a bargain, or is it an exercise in flushing money down the terlet?
