The Army Times reports on this inter-service squabble: “The Army in coming weeks will select its top camouflage contenders to cover your next combat uniform. A leading choice is the Marine Corps’ MARPAT. But although the outgoing top enlisted Marine says you can’t use it, the Army general who launched the effort begs to differ.

Now you see them ... uh, now you dont? The San Diego Padres unveiled their new camouflage jerseys on Tuesday and there's already some speculation that the team's attention to detail might prove to be a little too effective in 2011. While the Padres have worn two other camouflage jerseys since adopting the tradition in 2000, the previous versions used bolder prints worn by the Army and Navy. These new threads are meant to honor the Marines, but the MARPAT (short for "Marine Pattern") was designed by a computer and it features smaller splotches that are much harder to detect....

Two Sir Guy Carleton Secondary School students put their school in lockdown yesterday after they showed up wearing camouflage clothing and gas masks. A resident saw the students walking down Centrepointe Dr. and called police, said school board spokeswoman Hyacinth Haddad. A man named Mike dressed in camouflage with a John Kerry mask to protest an appearance of Teresa Heinz Kerry yesterday in Brookhaven, PA.
