I remember when I moved to Palm Beach County Florida back in 1996, I soon started attending REC meetings (Repub Executive Committee of PB County) and got involved in politics later by hosting talk radio programs on a couple different stations. It didn’t take me a long time to get to know about our popular star Congressman Mark Foley. I soon discovered that his proclivities were widely rumored among Republicans within the party. Despite them knowing about his character flaws... (contibued)

On Monday (June 14), Associated Press reporter Colleen Long wrote two articles about two different criminal cases in New York State, both involving political operatives accused of breaking the law. The first was about "Hank Morris... adviser to former state comptroller Alan Hevesi, [who] has been accused of taking kickbacks and other payments...." The second was about John Haggerty, who is accused of duping New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg into giving him money for campaign expenses and then using the money for personal expenses instead. The story about Morris never mentioned that he was a Democrat political consultant, or...

"Our device was not...

GOP wizard Karl Rove has been crowing this week that, despite discouraging poll numbers, his party will hold on to both the House and Senate in the midterm elections. But that's no surprise to folks who remember when Rove himself was a candidate - for president of his high school's student senate. Alumni of Olympus High, outside Salt Lake City, say the man now known as "Bush's Brain" showed his political cunning way back in 1968. "He had every social disadvantage imaginable," recalls Brian Moench, then Olympus' student body president. "Physically immature, no athletic ability, wasn't good with the girls,...

<p>The trashing of the idea of commemorating the great Marine Fighter Pilot, Greg "Pappy" Boyington, a Congressional Medal of Honor winner, by the student leadership of his alma mater, the University of Washington, is nasty and ignorant.</p>
<p>A student leader proclaims she "didn't believe a member of the Marine Corps was an example of the sort of person UW wanted to produce." Another complains "many monuments at UW already commemorate rich white men."</p>

... Johnnie Carl, 57, shot himself to death in the pre-dawn hours Friday in a basement bathroom, leaving behind both the manic-depression that tortured him but also the church, community and family that adored him. "He was such an incredible, caring person," Linda Carl said Friday, her words fighting her tears. "He never felt he was worthy of all the praise he got. He would be totally amazed and disbelieving of what people are saying about him now." ...[snip]Carl spoke openly about his illness, according to friends and colleagues, many of whom expressed sadness - but not surprise - at...

In a sworn statement to be made public Tuesday, University of Colorado President Elizabeth Hoffman said a four-letter word used toward women can sometimes be used as a "term of endearment." The comment comes from Hoffman's latest sworn testimony in connection with a federal lawsuit against the university. The suit was filed by women who say they were sexually assaulted by CU football players and recruits. A lawyer for one of the women asked Hoffman about former CU kicker Katie Hnida being called the "c- word" by a teammate. That player was later disciplined by coach Gary Barnett for making...

Today(6/16/03) at approximately around 2:25 PM EDT, Rush Limbaugh, king of right wing radio, stated that he went on a golf vacation to Ireland with NBC Today show second banana, Matt Lauer. The silence was deafening on FR(Free Republic), especially by people who selectively use Rush's quotes from Rush's website to make their own points and not their own words. A well known user of "cut and pasting" Rush quotes to make his/her own point was silent and could not be reached for this report.
