  • My Proposal for Hospital Medicare Pricing Discount Programs+Patient $+Private Catastrophic Coverage

There has been a strong demand here and elsewhere for plans based on catastrophic insurance. Those plans are only suitable for those with substantial amounts of savings of at least $10,000. If you are thinking of $5,000, that would be a typical PPACA bronze plan. Healthy people often want catastrophic plans to get the potentially massive cost-savings of substantial self-insurance. Fortunately, the people most likely to have very high premiums, people aged 50 to 64, often have $10,000 or much more. Payment for hospital-billed care, in-patient and out-patient, would come from the patient, and if the case was expensive enough,...
  • I've got an idea about repealing and replacing Obamacare

    06/28/2017 9:41:44 AM PDT · by Gunpowder green · 27 replies
Obamacare is imploding, as we all knew it would, due to the crazy regulations and unlimited liabilities for providers. Some areas now have no insurance carriers covering them, because the cost and risk are too high. In other areas providers are threatening to pull out for the same reason. The issue is how to fix this, and do it in such a way that we keep getting good coverage, access, affordable premiums, and choices. How about this? Every citizen gets a high-deductible plan, with a $50,000 deductible. This wouldn't pay a dime before $50,000, so it ought to be relatively...
  • True Catastrophic Health Insurance Options

Ok folks, where can we find true catastrophic health insurance? I'm looking for a low cost option that will preferably have a 25K-30K deductible, do the traditional exclusions, and provide real protection in case some catastrophic health event occurs. Specifically I'm in the Republic of Texas, which might have to secede from the Union if this baloney doesn't change :( Oh yes it will not be "Affordable Care Act" (ACA) compliant. But with premiums rising through the roof that law is now essentially a 2.5% tax on anyone healthy by the year 2018. Can you say "Oh Bum No Care"?...

Germany's new normal: 'People can't leave their homes' 'Migrants go into churches to disrupt service. They walk in and start to riot." [ full title ]. Media and political elites continue to spin the catastrophic invasion of Europe as some 'humanitarian' movement summarily ignoring the grave consequences of the hijrah (immigration jihad). Only a handful of news sites (like this one) are reporting on the true nature of invasion, getting the real news from the true victims - the besieged Europeans, who almost overnight, are forced to live in a war zone. ... a crime against the German people and...
  • Is Short Term Insurance the Answer? (Obamacare)

    11/01/2015 5:41:13 AM PST · by CA_soon_gone · 42 replies
My wife and I are early 60s retired, not yet on Medicare. The new Obamacare prices are out today and our monthly cost went from $1k/month to $1.9k/month. This is clearly over the 8% of income hardship limit for us so I should not have to pay any tax penalty for not buying Obamacare. I'd like to not completely be without some form of catastrophic coverage. Recently I've been researching short term health insurance. I can get a six month policy with lower deductibles than the Ocare for about $300/month. Am I missing something. Anyone else going this route?
  • Affordable Options other than ObamaCare

I'm looking for the best links and contact numbers to find affordable alternatives to ObamaCare. Anyone got any suggestions? I'm a 42 year old never-used-tobacco male in the state of Texas. Through State Farm I found a 5k deductible plan with 80% co-insurance beyond the deductible that costs $168 per month. The ObamaCare option with a 5k deductible and 75% co-insurance costs $350 per month. Assuming that the law's implementation doesn't change (though the executive branch has rewritten a lot of the rules contrary to what Congress enacted) I could face a fine of 1% of my income this year,...

    Q. I currently have a $7,500 deductible on my health insurance policy, and Im happy with my coverage. Ive heard that the ACA allows for a catastrophic plan. Can I switch to that in 2014? A. The catastrophic plan is only available to people under age 30, or people over 30 who qualify for a hardship exemption

(Reuters) - It seems that everyone in Washington is talking about it except President Barack Obama: When Congress votes on the administration's request to use military force in Syria, the future of his presidency could well be on the line. A defeat, a distinct possibility, would hobble Obama in affairs both foreign and domestic, particularly if fellow Democrats collaborate in it. It will hurt him at a critical juncture, as he confronts not only Syria, but the nuclear activities of Iran and North Korea, another round of battles with Republicans over fiscal issues, an immigration bill, and a possibly difficult...

(Reuters) - A collapse of the euro and break-up of the European Union would have catastrophic consequences for the global financial system, billionaire investor George Soros was quoted as saying. "Today, the euro is potentially endangering the political cohesion of the European Union," .. "If the common currency were to break down, it will lead to the break up of the European Union itself. And this will be catastrophic not only for Europe but also for the global financial system." The euro zone crisis is "more serious and more threatening than the crash of 2008," the Economic Times reported, quoting...
  • 35W bridge lawsuit: Engineering company predicted bridge collapse

MINNEAPOLIS -- Explosive documents about the Interstate 35W bridge suggest the engineering company the state hired to make sure the bridge was safe actually predicted it would collapse months before it fell apart. The documents are part of a lawsuit victims are bringing against California based URS Corporation. They accuse the firm of predicting a catastrophic event, but allegedly not telling anyone about it. The thought has been tough to swallow for the victims of that day in August 2007, when 13 people lost their lives and well over 100 were injured. "I remember until probably about 5:15 that day,"...

Here is video of CNN's Paul Begala and Anderson Cooper discussing the news that Democrat U.S. Senate Candidate Richard Blumenthal has repeatedly lied about having served in the military "in Vietnam." Begala said it is "indefensible" if in fact - as it appears to be - that he never served in Vietnam. BEGALA: "There is no good or ethical reason that he could have done that, Anderson. Uh, the guy ought to have a chance to respond. I saw the Times story as well. . . . You read those four words - 'I served in Vietnam.' That appears to...

Looks like theres at least one high-profile Republican who wont be voting for Sarah Palin should she run in 2012. Steve Schmidt, John McCains top political strategist in 2008, told a forum in Washington today that nominating Palin as the partys next presidential nominee would be catastrophic for Republicans. I think that she has talents, but my honest view is that she would not be a winning candidate, Schmidt said. In fact, were she to be the nominee, we would have a catastrophic election result.

KANSAS CITY, Missouri (Reuters) People in a vast seismic zone in the southern and midwestern United States would face catastrophic damage if a major earthquake struck there and should ensure that builders keep that risk in mind, a government report said on Thursday. The Federal Emergency Management Agency said if earthquakes strike in what geologists define as the New Madrid Seismic Zone, they would cause "the highest economic losses due to a natural disaster in the United States." FEMA predicted a large earthquake would cause "widespread and catastrophic physical damage" across Alabama, Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Mississippi, Missouri and...

Once again, catastrophic fire has left its devastating footprint on our California landscape. It seems that this time every year, we find ourselves in the same precarious situation of watching our hillsides get drier and drier while the summer gets hotter and hotter, until a fire erupts and we scramble to contain it and minimize its effect. Once the fire's been put out and things return to normal (for the most part), we do little to prevent future fires. Then summer hits once again and we're back to square one. It's time we put an end to this cycle. --snip--...

...Basic problems remain the same, however. And so do many of the proposed solutions. In Washington, Democrats continue to push statist prescriptions to America's health care ills; at the state level, legislatures experiment with them. It would be easy, thus, to assume that while Hillary Clinton lost the battle, she is winning the war.... Tomorrow, President Bush shouldn't just emphasize HSAs (which Sen. Kerry, incidentally, opposes). He can map out further reforms that will make health insurance more affordable: Tax fairness. While employer contributions to health insurance are non-taxable, individuals must pay in after-tax dollars. Leveling the tax field...

A New Hurricane: The National Weather Service has issued a warning for yet another catastrophic hurricane following on the heels of Charley, Frances, Ivan and Jeanne. The path of this hurricane zigs and zags, and is therefore highly unpredictable. Experts predict that this one will cause the most damage to the United States that we have experienced in four years. They are naming this one Hurricane Kerry. Be advised, the only way for citizens to protect themselves is by being behind a Bush.
