CLEVELAND -- As he came back onto the floor with 5:50 remaining the seats were half emptied, as they'd been seven long years ago and as they could be as soon as next season. The missing half of the audience had not waited to attend the final minutes of what may be LeBron James's final game in Cleveland. The night began with the same kind of promise that greeted James's 2003 arrival to Cleveland, and it ended with the crescendo of frustrations that has grown with each of his seven springtimes here. But this was entirely different than the others....

According to sources close to Phil Jackson, LeBron James has expressed interest in joining the Los Angeles Lakers. "LeBron wants to win. He's a smart guy, and Phil loves LeBron, absolutely LOVES him," according to the report. Obviously, there is way too much involved with a situation like this for one blurb, but if the report holds water then look for this to become a big storyline in the upcoming days.

The Phantom Regiment from Rockford, Illinois has won the 2008 Championship of the Drum Corp International's finals. Phantom trailed the Blue Devils (Concord, Californio) and the Cavaliers (Rosemont, Illinois) throughout most of the 2008 season, including after last night's preliminary competition in Bloomington, Indiana. The theme of this year's show was the music from Spartacus. The show was very dramatic and featured the color guard portraying the slaves' uprising and conquest. The music was as equally impressive. Awake by the lake By Dan Wetzel, Yahoo! Sports June 4, 2007 CLEVELAND – A couple of years ago Jack Blake, now 12, had reached the age when boys begin having questions about exactly how and why things work. So his father, Kevin, had to sit him down and have "The Talk." "Part of the parenting process in Cleveland is to express to children the history of losing here," Kevin said. "You have to let them know." Yeah, forget the birds and the bees. In Northeast Ohio, first you have to explain the Cleveland Cavaliers, Indians and Browns; namely why...

French attitudes over the Middle East conflict have swung dramatically over the past four years, with the public equally dividing its sympathies between the Palestinians and Israel, a turnaround from four years ago, according to a Pew research survey released Tuesday. France has long been widely perceived as a special ally in the West to the Arab world, the fruit of its historical roots in the region. A survey four years ago appeared to bear up that assumption, denied by French officialdom. At the time, French respondents to the survey sympathized with the Palestinians over Israel at a roughly two-to-one...

The Dixie Chicks appear to be more popular than the president these days. President Bush's approval rating has plummeted, but the Chicks are on top of the pop and country charts with their first album since publicly criticizing Bush three years ago. They did it without the support of country radio, which largely ignored the Dixie Chicks after lead singer Natalie Maines told a London audience in 2003 that the group was ashamed Bush was from their home state of Texas. The new album, "Taking the Long Way," took the No. 1 spot Wednesday on the country albums chart and...

LeBron: 'I Am Not Going Anywhere' All-Star Forward Addresses Future Before Even Asked POSTED: 8:30 am EDT October 4, 2005 CLEVELAND -- LeBron James appears to have worked on his defense this summer. Or the one where he's bolting for Los Angeles to join the Lakers and sign a movie deal. And the piece of gossip about him leaving for Miami to hook up with Shaq and open a nightclub on South Beach. Heck,...

LeBron James is getting ready to start his second season in the NBA, but next Tuesday he will be a rookie all over again. That is because the 19-year-old Akron native will be voting in his first presidential election. While he is not exactly giddy with anticipation over exercising his constitutional right for the first time, he has been trying to follow the debates and differences between President Bush and Democratic challenger John Kerry.

Document distraction Alleged forgery drama has cost CBS some credibility, and has postponed - again - focus on today's issues Friday, September 17, 2004 CBS News, in the person of anchorman Dan Rather, has staked its professional reputation on the authenticity of over-the-transom documents purporting to show that, 32 years ago, the man who would become president of the United States had shirked his military duty. Shaky ground on which to place something so important. Such sourcing is always risky for a news organization. But when the object of the reporting occupies the White House, the consequences of...

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) -- LeBron James dominated the competition to the delight of his audience, then eyeballed the scoreboard for his own satisfaction. With 14 points, seven rebounds and six assists Tuesday night, the most talked-about high school draft pick in NBA history thrilled a huge crowd that waited several hours to see him make his pro basketball debut. But he said what he'll remember most is the outcome of this summer league game -- Cleveland Cavaliers 107, Orlando Magic 80. ``Victory,'' James said. ``Victory, and just stepping on an NBA court for the first time. ``I know last year...

Virginia freshman Deidra Chatman has had a change of heart. After protesting U.S. foreign policy by turning her back on the American flag during the national anthem Sunday, Chatman said she will not do so in the future, The Washington Post reported in Tuesday's editions. Chatman is the second player to turn her back on the flag this season after the well-publicized protest of Manhattanville senior forward Toni Smith. "I did not intend for my actions on Sunday to offend anyone," Chatman said Monday in a statement obtained by the paper. "I would much rather have the attention focused on...
