Dear Immigrant, Welcome to the greatest nation the world has ever known, The United States of America, that is if you're here legally. If you're not here legally, go back across whatever border you crossed and try coming back the way you're supposed to, otherwise when you entered this country you are a criminal. To you who have done the honorable thing and taken the time and trouble to become a citizen of this great nation, welcome! We're all in the same boat, with the exception of the Indians who were here when we first came here, we all came...

FORT HUACHUCA — It’s not likely that one fan will be washing his right hand anytime soon. Not after Charlie Daniels shook it. “He just strolled off that burgundy bus wearing a Hawaiian shirt, walked right over to me and shook my hand,” Rick Hawkins said, holding it up for all to see. “I was completely shocked.” The Charlie Daniels Band performed Wednesday evening on Fort Huachuca, delivering an energized concert that opened with a string of hits, kicking off with, “Drinkin’ My Baby Goodbye” (Sitting on a bar stool, actin’ like a dern fool), then rolling into “The South’s...

One Nation Under What God? As Christians prepare to celebrate Easter the cornerstone of our faith, the resurrection of Jesus Christ, our President has told the planet Earth that America is no longer a Christian nation, and of all the things he's said that really upset me this is the most egregious and besides that; it is a downright lie. I don't have to go into the well-known fact that America was discovered and settled by Christians and has since it's inception been founded on Judeo-Christian values. Why Judeo-Christian? Because Jews and Christians, despite their many differences, worship the same...

Country Singer Rips Obama Administration for Renaming Global War on Terror By Ken Shepherd Created 2009-04-01 17:05 The mainstream media has found little of alarm in the story, but conservative bloggers including musician Charlie Daniels have taken heed of the Obama administration's changes to the terminology the U.S. government uses to describe the war on terrorism. For example, "terrorism" will now be referred to as "man-caused disasters" and the Global War on Terror will now be referred to as "Overseas Contingency Operation [1]." Daniels, who performed at the 2003 Media Research Center Gala, pulls no punches in his March 27...

It's Finally Happened Washington has totally lost its collective mind and is drowning in a sea of make believe that transcends common sense and even political correctness. I'm going back to Iraq later on in the year, and I can't wait to see what the young men and women in the military think about fighting the "Overseas Contingency Operation." They actually thought they were fighting the War on Terror, but their new Commander in Chief and the bunch of politically correct, pantywaist loonies who serve under him are afraid of offending Osama bin Laden or some other scum-sucking, head-decapitating terrorist...

Well, I guess we all know about Illinois' governor, Rod Blagojevich, trying to sell Barack Obama's vacated Senate seat. I've gotten used to learning about crooked politicians but this guy Blagojevich is either extremely brazen or just plain hillbilly dumb. Even knowing that he was under investigation for corruption, he was legally taped on the telephone talking about the rewards he could reap by appointing certain people to the Senate. A couple of years ago Louisiana Congressman, William Jefferson, was relieved of duty for accepting money for political favors. He must have made a lot of it because he had...

What would you think of if somebody asked you what important document was a charter of negative liberties? Would the communist manifesto come to mind, or perhaps the writings of some radical Islamic cleric? Well to Barack Obama it is the Constitution of the United States of America. In an interview from 2001, he actually called it a charter of "negative liberties" and expressed his dissatisfaction about the fact that the Constitution expresses the limits of the power the federal government has over the individual and doesn't have a list of things the government is required to do for the...

What I state in this column is my opinion and mine alone. I don't have any concrete underpinning, written evidence, statistics or other data to back up what I'm saying, just a foreboding sense of future events under certain circumstances. And for the benefit of you cherry pickers who try to parse my words at every opportunity the key word is ultra. Did you ever stop and think what the endgame of an ultra liberal agenda would be? We already know that the philosophy leans heavily in the direction of socialism and monolithic government that would maintain control over every...

This week I will be celebrating my seventy-second birthday and I use the term celebrate loosely, as I have no plans to have some kind of a blowout or any of the other things we usually associate with the word. I will probably spend a quiet day at home, maybe hitting a few golf balls, popping off a few rounds at the shooting range, or if the day is the right so I may go to the big pond and match wits with the fish. To say that a lot has changed in my 72 years would be a little...

If you've seen the news lately or even watched the presidential debates you've heard about a man they call Joe The Plumber, the ordinary citizen who after being approached by Barack Obama asked a question about Obama's tax policy, which elicited the now famous Obama answer about spreading the wealth around. It was an example of Obama thinking on his feet without having Teleprompters or days to prepare for a question, but in my opinion, Obama told the truth about the extent of his socialistic plans for America. Evidently the question and the answer must have been embarrassing to the...

Lest you cherry pickers accuse me of developing a Johnny-come-lately idea due to the political climate, let me say that if you'd care to peruse my soapbox columns of several years ago you'd find that I was saying the same thing. I have for many years felt that there is a movement afoot in this nation for a handful of elitist left-wing political groups to seize power over every aspect of American life. Now I know this is not news to you levelheaded thinking people, but the rest of my opinion may be. You see, I think they not only...

An Open Letter to America My friends and neighbors, my brothers and sisters, my supporters, my detractors, Democrat, Republican, Baptist, Catholic, sophisticates and fellow hillbillies, lend me your ears, or rather your eyes for a few minutes. Upon reflection I find myself guilty lately of falling in with the bad news crowd, and goodness knows there's plenty of it to fall into, but since I've been guilty of accentuating the negative and ignoring the positive lately, I'd like do something different. There is certainly a lot wrong with our country, but sometimes by being overwhelmed by the twenty-four hour news...

Have you wondered why the Democrats are sending dozens of lawyers and others to Alaska to try and dig up some dirt on Sarah Palin and her family? Have you wondered why the usually glib and coldly efficient Obama propaganda machine has been thrown completely out of kilter by this diminutive young governor, who admittedly believes in God, is anti-abortion and knows one end of a high caliber rifle from the other? The slime machine is used to dealing with other politicians with long and sordid records of public service, or maybe public disservice, with so many cracks in their...

In the last couple of weeks, there is no denying that Sarah Palin has attained superstar status in the political arena and the Democrats and the mainstream media are scratching their heads and wondering what hit them. In fact, in a matter of days, she has had more media scrutiny than Barack Obama has had in the past two years. I seriously doubt if they will admit the truth about Sarah Palin, even if they were able to accept it. There's no deep dark mystery here, no Rosetta Stone required to decipher the Palin phenomenon. It's as simple as first...

Last night in Montgomery, Alabama we did a concert for the Buckmasters organization. As the name implies, Buckmasters promotes hunting and their convention every year is attended by all kinds of people, but the good ol' boys in their pickup trucks with the rifle racks, the big knobby tires and Dale Earnhardt, Jr. racing decals make up a big part of the attendees. The streets of Montgomery were teeming with big guys in camo. They were friendly folks, quick to smile and not afraid to render an opinion on anything from their favorite deer rifle to the current presidential election....

How can a man who sat under Jeremiah Wright's preaching for twenty years, a man who refuses to wear a flag pin, a man who will not even put his hand over his heart when the National Anthem is played possibly have a legitimate chance of becoming President of the United States? How can a man whose wife (after living a privileged life and going to Ivy League universities) says that she's never been proud of her country until her husband ran for President, even be considered. Jeremiah Wright is an anti-American racist, pure and simple who still holds all...

I remember years ago making a remark to my granddaddy that it seemed that people were more evil than they had ever been. His reply was that they had always been that way, there were just more of them now. Then and now I consider my grandfather to be a wise man whose sage opinions I regarded as insightful and correct. Granddaddy has been gone for many years and I can't help but wonder if he was still alive if his feelings on evil would still be the same. Granted there are many more people but it seems that the...

I know you've seen polls that reflect the collective opinions of the citizens of this nation. I'm not really a poll type person, I think they're easily manipulated, but one thing is for certain, every poll you ever see on the illegal alien situation shows that the overwhelming majority of the American people want something done about it. People are staggering under the burden of the highest fuel prices in our history and everybody wants to know why steps aren't being taken to alleviate it. The Congress and Senate spend our money on personal foolishness, anything for a vote. The...

Preface First of all I would like to thank all you good folks for reading my humble ramblings in our soapbox column. I would also like to thank you for expressing your opinions whether they be pro or con. As we all know it is the Christmas season and we are going to do something that we've been doing for many years. We are going to post a story I wrote many years ago, a story called "A Carolina Christmas Carol". It's a fictitious little piece but I'd be less than truthful if I said that there were no memories...

They're Baaaaack!!!! Well here we go again. The Christmas season is coming and the boo birds are coming out of to resume their efforts to remove every vestige of God, Jesus and Christmas from any property that could remotely be considered to be public. They're so uptight that they don't want anybody to even say Merry Christmas and some of the merchants have given in on their silly hypocritical demands by informing their employees that the limits of their Christmas greeting to customers has to be Happy Holidays. Oh yeah!!!!! Well the next time somebody in a store tells you...

Gender Up Ender I'll admit I didn't watch the Democratic debates the other night, it's not that I'm not interested, it's just that the field right now is so crowded with people who have about as much chance of being president as they do of winning the lottery. I think the early primaries are a good thing as it narrows the field down to the people who are actually going to run and gives them more time to actually state their opinions on issues and less time to hide behind platitudes and inanities. But I digress getting back to the...

Today is Oct. 28, 2007 and at about 2 am EST this morning, I turned seventy-one years old. In some ways it doesn't seem possible. It seems that the years have just flickered past in an exciting wonderful, multicolored, roller coaster ride, a fast moving epic played out on the highways and concert stages of the world. But to view my life in that light would be selective thinking, looking at the bricks and ignoring the mortar that holds it together. It takes highs and lows, good times and bad, ups, downs and sideways to make up a life and...

n a recent interview I was doing, the subject came up about the social metamorphosis our nation has been through in the last half-century or so. The loss of closeness among old friends, the non-stop lives most of us live and the lack of family unity. Thinking and talking about such things started me remembering some of the things I feel have given my life stability. Simple things that leave indelible impressions on a young mind and gives you a long lasting sense of well being. For instance, it used to be that on a summer evening if you walked...

I just checked out the Charlie Daniels' website and this really was taken from that. I've never cared much for his music but reading his website is quite interesting and he seems to have quite a testimony. Text from site; There are probably some of you folks out there who are wondering why we didn't appear on the CMT Country Freedom Concert for the Salvation Army to benefit the victims of the September 11th Attack on America. We were announced and scheduled and had every intention of doing the show, until we gave the CMT folks the lyrics to a ...

You people in Washington claim to know the mind of the American people. I beg to differ with you and would offer up in evidence just how out of touch you are with the American people by reminding you of what happened when you tried to shove that ridiculous Amnesty Bill down our throats. (SNIP) But the truth of the matter is that I am more afraid of you and your ilk than I am of the terrorists.

Run John Run After all these years of being bitterly disappointed in the integrity, or lack thereof, of people running for public office I'd think that I'd heard and seen it all. But John Edwards has broken some new ground bringing the things people are willing to do to get votes to a new low. Can you believe that Edwards has actually made the statement that there is no war on terror? That it's just a slogan, a bumper sticker being used by the Bush administration to cover up its mistakes? If Edwards actually believes that, I consider him a...

WASHINGTON, June 25, 2007 – The Pentagon honored music legend Charlie Daniels here today with the Office of the Secretary of Defense Medal for Exceptional Public Service, the Defense Department’s top civilian award. Charlie Daniels (left,) country/southern Rock Musician, receives the Office of the Secretary of Defense Medal for exceptional public service in support of armed troops from Michael L. Dominguez, principal deputy under secretary of defense for personnel and readiness, during a visit to the Pentagon June 25, 2007. Dominguez said Daniels has performed for the troops in more than 20 different installations in countries across the globe....

Sandy Tucker, co-founder of the Galilean Children's Home in Casey County, died of complications from cancer Monday at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington. She was 62. Mrs. Tucker, who raised her two biological children and more than 800 others over a span of more than 35 years, had been battling cancer off and on since 2000. She initially was thought to have had colon cancer, but later it was determined that the cancer had started in her ovaries, according to those who knew her. Mrs. Tucker and her husband, Jerry, took in abused, disabled and unwanted children from throughout the...

For the first time in my life I am seriously worried about the future of the land I love. It seems that the politicians we sent to Washington to represent us have either taken leave of their senses or are so out of touch with their constituencies that they seem to live on another planet. The hottest button issue in the country is the pandemic illegal immigrant problem that plagues every facet of American life these days and yet the Congress, Senate and the President seem intent on passing a piece of legislation which could well have America taking the...

I think it was Shakespeare who said that a rose by any other name would smell as sweet. Well political correctness and the stuff we shovel out of the barnyard after the bulls have spent the night have a similar odor. For instance, tell me what is the difference between an Islamic terrorist who gets on a bus in Jerusalem with a suicide vest and blows up a load of innocent women and children and an Islamic terrorist who sets a bomb on a train in London or Madrid? What differentiates between an Islamic terrorist who runs a plane loaded...

Short Fuse I have no doubt in my mind that vicious attacks against an unsuspecting American population are being planned in this nation by radical Islamic activists and encouraged in some American mosques by radical Islamic clerics. There are at least seven Al Qaida sleeper cells in major cities in this country just waiting for a signal to attack in the streets of America, maybe with conventional weapons or if they can get their hands on them the nuclear and chemical weapons. While Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid lead the Congress and Senate in meaningless junk like non-binding resolutions, the...

I am sick, disgusted, exasperated, aggravated, ticked off, and fed up with the politically correct exaggerated and downright dumb attitude that some wiser than thou, condescending, hypocritical, la la land people in this country have. Okay, I'll explain myself. If you say something about illegal Mexicans, you're a bigot and hate all Hispanics and don't want anybody to come into this country unless you have a two-generation pedigree of waspery. If you say something about Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton or Rodney King you're a predjudiced bigot who wants to hold all African Americans down. If you say something about Rosie...

Dear Sir and Madam, You have said often enough that you don't believe in the war in Iraq and that you want to bring the troops home. Yet all you do is talk and sign non-binding resolutions which only goes to show that you really don't mean what you say about ending the war or that you're just playing political games and in doing so giving aid and comfort to a dedicated enemy. Now if you're serious about ending the war you have the means and the votes to do just that. Simply cut off the funding for the troops,...

Why did you write "Simple Man?" I'm disgusted with what's going on in our country about violent crime. We take the criminal's side in a lot of cases rather than the victim's and it's just a shame. It's time we do something about it. That's what prompted "Simple Man." How do you feel about violence in schools? I think it's horrible. I honestly believe violence in schools started in the '60s when we took any semblance of morality and prayer out of the schools. People talk about the separation of church and state; if you read the Constitution, the law...

I don't watch television shows like the one Rosie O'Donnell is on but I did see a replay of her saying that radical Christianity is just as dangerous as radical Islam. First of all, I don't know what Ms. O'Donnell is referring to when she says radical Christianity. When compared to radical Islam it would have to mean that there is a sect of Christians who hates and persecutes every other religion in the world. A group who straps explosives to their bodies and blows up innocent women and children. They would have to sacrifice their sons and daughters as...

Charlie Daniels went down to Chula Vista, lookin' for a show to play CHULA VISTA – The Sean Hannity Freedom Concert filled Coors Amphitheatre on Wednesday night with country music, patriotic appeals and political commentary that covered the entire spectrum. Everything from the right to the far right. “The liberals don't hold rallies like this, do they?” one of the featured guests, radio talk show host Mark Levin, asked the audience of 13,000. “We raise the flag. They burn the flag.” Welcome to the conservative Woodstock. Since 2003, Hannity, a Fox News Channel and radio commentator, has hosted an...

"After I got home from Afghanistan last year," Price recalled, "I made a commitment to return to entertain the troops overseas. … I couldn't pass up the chance to go with Charlie Daniels. "The people now serving in Iraq face death on a daily basis," Price says, "but if you think morale is low, guess again. "My job was to try to cheer the soldiers up. But in most cases, they didn't need it. … It was an amazing experience. I went to Iraq looking to raise morale. But in the end, it was the soldiers who had done that...

Media Virtually Mute on Charlie Daniel's Baghdad Visit It amazes me. When this jerkoff "Flea" from the Red Hot Chili Peppers stands up and bashes President Bush, it seems to make it to a lot of the major news organizations such as the Associated Press and others. Neil Young, who I admire as a great musician and singer/songwriter, a guy who has given us rock and roll lovers so much great stuff, did indeed disappoint me with his latest anti-Bush tirade in his cd "Living with War" - and it also got a lot of internet-media attention. Again, Neil is a great artist, but...

One of the big problems in America today is that if you have the nerve to say anything derogatory about any group of people (except Christians) you are going to be screamed at by the media and called a racist, a bigot and anything else they can think of to call you. Well I’ve been pounded by the media before and I’m still rockin’ and rollin’ and when it comes to speaking the truth I fear not. And the truth is that the gutless, gonad-less, milksop politicians are just about to sell out the United States of America because they...

CAMP TAQADDUM, Iraq - Southern rock/country superstar Charlie Daniels performed for a full house of more than 1,200 service members here April 16, 2006. Backed by his loyal band and cheered on by service members from all branches of the armed forces, the 69-year-old put on a show that left the Marines, soldiers, sailors and airmen standing and yelling for more. "This is the first concert I"ve lost my voice at," said Cpl. Jesse J. Buttrick, a supply warehouseman with Marine Wing Communications Squadron 28. "Charlie Daniels has a lot of energy; he puts on a good show," said Lance...

For education and discussion only. Not for commercial use. It seems that the U.S.A. has a history of waiting until the horse is gone before securing the proverbial barn door. In some cases it´s simply expensive or inconvenient, but in some cases it is downright dangerous. Although few on the left are willing to admit, it´s pretty well known that Bill Clinton had at least three chances to take bin Ladin into custody and refused. We all know that we brought Saddam to his knees during the first Gulf War and sailed away without finishing the job, necessitating the second...

CHARLOTTE, N.C. A project sparked by North Carolina-bred singer Charlie Daniels has collected thousands of dollars in donated musical instruments for troops in Iraq. Daniels donated one of his own instruments to "Operation Heartstrings" earlier this year when he learned that soldiers didn't have guitars for church services. He asked guitar manufacturers to do the same. "We never envisioned this much stuff. I'm overwhelmed by the support out there for the troops," said Daniels. He said "only one company that will remain nameless turned us down." Gibson Guitar, one of the nation's top instrument makers, surprised the Wilmington native by...
