End austerity: it’s cheating us all; Jobs not Trident; No cuts; Defy Tory rule; Cut war not welfare; Stop fracking; a Living Wage for mothers; and, The Pope gets it, why can’t you? With the slogans emblazoned on banners, posters and flags, anti-austerity marchers shouted slogans, sang, and beat drums, as they walked through London in what is being called the biggest protest march that the city has seen. The ‘End Austerity Now’ demonstration saw participation by an estimated crowd of between 70,000 and 250,000, all coming together to protest against cuts imposed due to austerity, the threats to the...

Several years ago, I wrote a column praising a sweet and talented Welsh girl named Charlotte Church. A singer of arias and sacred songs, she possessed an uncommon sense of modesty and decorum in the skin-baring age of Britney Spears. Charlotte had the face and voice of an angel. Her signature piece was "Pie Jesu" (Blessed Jesus). Her favorite keepsake was a rosary blessed by the pope. Or so she said at the time. Now, alas, the once-charming Charlotte is the new face of skankdom. And you won't believe what she's saying about the pope. The 20-year-old entertainer has rebelled...

Channel 4 chiefs have been bombarded with complaints about singer Charlotte Church's foul-mouthed new chat show. Angry viewers condemned the programme as 'coarse, crude and filthy', 'immature and puerile', and 'a load of utter bilge'. One even added: 'This woman may have had the voice of an angel in the past but now she has the foul mouth of a sewer rat.' Channel 4's confidential complaints log, seen by this newspaper, shows that the bulk of the protests have been about 20-year-old Miss Church's language. The show, which begins at 10pm, features the Cardiff-born singer interviewing celebrities and taking part...

LONDON - The U.S. publishing company Ignatius Press has refused to sell any works by Welsh singer Charlotte Church after she called German-born Pope Benedict XVI a Nazi and mocked the Catholic Church. The directors of Ignatius Press said they were offended when the Welsh singer mocked the Catholic Church in the pilot of a proposed eight-part television chat show. Church, dubbed the "Voice of an Angel" before she turned her talents to popular music, also dressed up as a nun and pretended to hallucinate while eating "communion" wafers imprinted with smiling faces signifying the drug Ecstasy. She smashed open...

It’s as if St Winifred’s school choir has got its cassocks off for Playboy magazine. Charlotte Church is sashaying swiftly towards adulthood. Tabloids speculate that she has had to ditch a boyfriend to please her record company. She hangs out with Robbie Williams and preens for an eternity before our photo-shoot. Yet despite Charlotte’s growing physical charms, it is salutary to remember she is only 15; so quickly does sexuality now find the young — or the young find sexuality. Sure, the chanteuse has not done a Vanessa-Mae (no wet T-shirt in the surf photographs — yet), but when you ...

Charlotte Church: B16 is a "Nazi" Ah, to be young, talented, and stupid. From EntertainmentWise.com: Charlotte Church has whipped up a storm of controversy by appearing as a drug-taking nun and calling the Pope a “Nazi” in her new TV show. Welsh singing star Charlotte Church branded US President George Bush "a right weirdo" and opera legend Pavarotti a "big fat diva", it has been reported. The singer took a swipe at the famous men during an appearance on Glasgow-based Clyde 1 radio to promote her new single, Crazy Chick. Church, 19, said gaffe-prone Bush had no idea where Wales was when she met him after performing for outgoing President Bill Clinton in Washington in 2000.

Remeber the rumor a few weeks ago that singer Charlotte Church was up for a role in the new film version of the 'Phantom of the Opera?' Well, now the truth is starting to come out why we never heard anything more about it. Seems Miss Church was too chunky -at least that's what the not so good looking director Joel Schumacher and his production team told her.The 17 her old 'Voice of an Angel' told In Style Magazine that she was constantly losing roles because of her size. 'I won't fit into their ideals because I think it's really...
