The administration of President Barack Obama, whose official blogger while Obama was a candidate came under attack for hanging a Communist Party flag in his Harvard apartment, apparently has given permission to raise the emblem of Communist China over the south lawn of the White House. The plan, reported by several English-language Chinese media outlets, has raised concern among those who are working to guard the United States from outside influences that could be threats. According to the Global Times English-language edition, the national flag of the communist People's Republic of China on Sept. 20 will be raised for the...

China, wary of the troubled US economy, has already "canceled America's credit card" by cutting down purchases of debt, a US congressman said Thursday. China has the world's largest foreign reserves, believed to be mostly in dollars, along with around 800 billion dollars in US Treasury bonds, more than any other country. Representative Mark Kirk, a member of the House Appropriations Committee and co-chair of a group of lawmakers promoting relations with Beijing, said China had "very legitimate" concerns about its investments. "It would appear, quietly and with deference and politeness, that China has canceled America's credit card," Kirk told...

SAN DIEGO – More than 300 Chinese and Chinese-Americans cheered and waved the two nations' flags Monday morning on a pier at San Diego Naval Base, a noisy greeting for two Chinese navy ships making a rare visit to U.S. mainland port. Hundreds of Chinese sailors in white uniforms with blue neckerchiefs stood stiffly at the rails of the destroyer Qingdao and the auxiliary ship Hongzehu as they cruised into port. It was only the second visit ever of People's Liberation Army vessels to San Diego, and the first since 1997. Chinese-American dancers and drummers entertained before a pierside ceremony....

As early as the 1860s, workers from China came to the West Coast of the United States, including Washington state and Seattle, where they contributed to the development of the local economy. Iris Chang, the Chinese American historical author, was found dead Wednesday, November 10 2004. The initial assessment was that she committed suicide in her car. A best selling and critically acclaimed author whose sole literary desire is to prevent Chinese history from being rewritten or forgotten would somehow find life too meaningless or difficult to continue living and thus mysteriously kill herself?
