WASHINGTON - Hillary Clinton says running for office isn't on her "radar," but she still has an eight-person political team and sports two overflowing campaign war chests. Her team transformed the former Democratic White House contender's massive campaign debts into a $3 million mountain of political cash, according to federal fund-raising records through the end of June. Clinton's failed presidential bid is now $1 million in the black, and her old Senate campaign committee has $2.1 million in the bank, much of it transferred in from the presidential account. The former First Lady paid eight staffers nearly $100,000 in the...

DEFIANT Hillary Clinton loyalists marched through Denver today to vent anger at the outcome of the bitter Democratic primary race in a final show of support for their beaten idol. Just hours before Senator Clinton was to address Democrats in a speech that party officials hope will heal the schism caused by the nominating battle, more than 1000 supporters of the former first lady paid vocal tribute to her campaign. Despite the calls for a unified front heading into November's presidential election, it is clear that some of Senator Clinton's supporters will never be able to forgive Barack Obama for...

Bill Clinton will speak on the third day of the Democratic National Convention, FOX News has confirmed. The former president has been scheduled to address the convention on Wednesday, Aug. 27, before the speech by the Democrats’ vice presidential nominee, according to a senior Democratic source familiar with the situation. The news comes on the heals of statements by Hillary Clinton that she might ask for her name be offered for a roll call vote at the convention — a formality, since she already has withdrawn from the Democratic race and thrown her support behind Barack Obama, the presumptive nominee....

Congressmen and women who believe that they can ignore the expressed will of their districts’ constituents and vote with impunity for whomever they want for president at the Democratic Convention had better think again. A vote for Clinton by a congressman whose district backed Obama is likely to become the single most dangerous vote the member has ever cast. If Obama loses the nomination, all will be forgotten, if not forgiven. But if he wins and gets elected, as I think he will, don’t expect much mercy from his enraged supporters. Voting one way while one’s district votes the other...

What is it with these New Yorkers running for president? First, Rudy Giuliani pins his entire presidential bid on a late-voting, big-state strategy and flames out in Florida before the first flicker of fire. Now, Hillary Rodham Clinton might as well be stealing pages from Giuliani's laughingstock playbook - and she looks headed for the same demise.

During a campaign swing for his wife, former President Bill Clinton said flatly yesterday that he opposed the war in Iraq “from the beginning” — a statement that is more absolute than his comments before the invasion in March 2003. Before the invasion, Mr. Clinton did not precisely declare that he opposed the war. A week before military action began, however, he did say that he preferred to give weapons inspections more time and that an invasion was not necessary to topple Saddam Hussein. At the same time, he also spoke supportively about the 2002 Senate resolution that authorized military...

Landed here in Beijing yesterday and traveled 3 hours by car to a factory. The pollution is the worse that I have experienced. One can taste it and it clings to your clothes. I just wanted to post from "Communist China" and say hello to the "FREEREPUBLIC" Board.

LOOK out, Hillary - Bill is off the leash. The gobsmacking interview with Bill Clinton on "Fox News Sunday" is the first episode of reality television starring a former president of the United States. It's why God invented YouTube. Liberals love it, especially the Fox News Channel-bashing. Conservatives think it proves every insulting theory they've ever devised to encompass this gargantuan American personality. In truth, the whole performance defies reason. It was especially odd to hear Clinton complain that "Bush's neocons" faulted him for being "too obsessed with bin Laden." Really? All I ever heard from Bush's neocons - most...

Sen. Hillary Clinton has spoken up in support of her husband Bill’s defense of his anti-terror efforts, saying she’s tired of Democrats being pushed around on national security issues. "I just think that my husband did a great job in demonstrating that Democrats are not going to take this,” she said on Monday in remarks reported by Newsday. In a heated discussion with Chris Wallace on "Fox News Sunday,” Bill Clinton said that as president, he did more than many of his conservative critics to pursue al-Qaida, and alleged that President Bush didn’t try to stop terrorism in the eight...

United States-led counterterrorism efforts have seriously damaged the leadership of al-Qa’ida and disrupted its operations; however, we judge that al-Qa’ida will continue to pose the greatest threat to the Homeland and US interests abroad by a single terrorist organization. We also assess that the global jihadist movement—which includes al- Qa’ida, affiliated and independent terrorist groups, and emerging networks and cells—is spreading and adapting to counterterrorism efforts.

Former President Bill Clinton has told Florida Democrats that the U.S. should not withdraw from Iraq until the political situation there is stabilized. "The representative government in Iraq is a hopeful sign,” Clinton said at a fundraiser for the Florida Democratic party in Orlando on Monday. "But we need to stay there long enough for the politics to get worked out. If we withdrew tomorrow, that government couldn’t survive.” Clinton said he opposed the original decision to invade Iraq before military operations in Afghanistan were completed, but warned that more terrorists could emerge from Iraq without a U.S. military presence...

An arsenal of exotic weapons - including a sniper rifle, a spear and a set of 8-inch metal claws - were seized from a 23-year-old Jersey City man after his worried father called cops. When South District cops responded to the Greenville home yesterday morning, they found the sniper rifle - with a powerful scope and a laser sight - as well as three Glock handguns and more than 1,200 rounds of ammunition, reports said. Among the bullets were illegal "hollow-point" rounds, police said. In addition to the spear and metal claws, cops found a number of savage-looking knives, including one that had blades coming out of each end of its carved wooden handle. The owner of the weapons lived with his father, his brother and two younger brothers, police said.

Ex-president Bill Clinton has agreed that when it comes to speaking out on controversial issues, his wife, Sen. Hillary Clinton, will have the last word from here on out. Mr. Clinton has promised to clear all future pronouncements with his wife after he embarrassed her by lobbying for the Dubai Ports World deal, which she publicly opposed. "He knows it's Hillary's time now," an adviser close to both Clintons told the New York Daily News, which said Mrs. Clinton invoked her veto power out of fear that her husband's wayward comments might hurt her 2008 presidential bid. "Hillary has final...

Laura Bush says Hillary 'out of bounds' Sat Feb 11 2006 11:42:42 ET From ABC interview of Laura Bush at Winter Olympics today: Q Before I let you go, one political question, because I'll get fired if I don’t ask at least one political question. The ceremony for Coretta Scott King was just so moving, all the speakers at that. Hillary Clinton has now taken a little bit of the forefront. And I know that you all travel together, and just a week before, she had some very harsh words about this administration, saying it could be one of the...

Virginia - Oversight Hearing Set on BATFE Abuse at Richmond, VA Gun Show Wednesday, February 08, 2006 On February 15, at 4:00 p.m., the U.S. House Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism and Homeland Security will hold an oversight hearing to investigate apparent wrongdoing by BATFE at a Richmond, VA gun show last August. In 2004-05, a troubling pattern emerged at a number of Richmond, VA-area gun shows, where hundreds of BATFE agents and state and local police staked out local shows. Immediately upon learning of these incidents, NRA began investigating and working to ensure congressional oversight hearings would be held...

Democrats are very, very concerned about security at the Bush White House. Sen. Joseph Biden (D-Del.) appeared recently on HBO’s “Real Time with Bill Maher” to demand an investigation of the controversy surrounding Jeff Gannon, the discredited Talon News reporter whose ties to gay escort websites were revealed by left-wing bloggers after Gannon asked President Bush a famously softball question at a Jan. 26 news conference. “Why isn’t every major network in the country investigating a security breach?” Biden asked during a discussion with the unlikely quartet of Maher, Robin Williams, Lesley Stahl and Tommy Thompson. Biden continued: “How could...

Conservatives critical of President Bush's "liberal" stance on immigration are praising Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's position on the issue. Before the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, Bush and Mexico President Vicente Fox were working together on a plan to legalize the millions of foreign workers who sneak into the country across the 1,900-mile border with Mexico. Since Nov. 2 when Bush increased his support in both red and blue states, Sen. Clinton has been staking out a conservative position on immigration. Evidently, her plan is to tap into a feeling by most Americans that illegal immigration is a sizable national problem...

AMONG THE MILITARY WHO SERVED in the White House and the professional white House staff, the Clinton administration was renowned for its lack of professionalism and courtesy, though few ever spoke publicly about it. This aspect of the Clinton administration became apparent to me from my earliest golf outings with the president It was telling to me how often he played golf with certain types of people - people like Terry McAuliffe, his campaign and fundraising guru, and the Rodham brothers, Hugh and Tony. They, like many of Clinton's cronies, were remarkably pompous and inconsiderate individuals. The Rodham brothers are...
