A Texas police officer was found murdered in his home just hours before an officer in Illinois was gunned down in the street on a morning patrol. Don Allen, 27, was killed at home some time Monday evening in Clyde, Texas, and found by family members around 7pm. Authorities have not released details of his death, but launched a homicide investigation over Allen, who has served in the Abilene police department for three years.

In his book entitled, "Rise, Let Us Be On Our Way," Pope John Paul II writes that: "By his manner of life, a bishop demonstrates that the Christ as "Model" lives on and still speaks to us today. One could say that a diocese reflects the manner of life of its bishop. His virtues - chastity, a spirit of poverty and prayer, simplicity, sensitivity of conscience - will, as it were, be written into the hearts of his priests. They, in their turn, will convey these values to the faithful entrusted to their care, and in this way young people...

Clyde, N.Y. --- A Wayne County man is now facing four charges for Endangering the Welfare of a Child after he interrupted an act of vandalism at a home he was renovating for his father-in-law. The incident unfolded around 9 p.m. Saturday when Jesse Daniels said he told his wife to call 911 after he heard loud noises coming from the home next door and saw an individual striking a wall with a hammer. Daniels... ran next door and found four children, ages eight and ten, doing damage to the property. Daniels said he took a hammer from one of...

By far the movie’s gravest insult to posterity, however, is its treatment of the Texas Ranger captain, Frank Hamer, who may (or may not) have been instrumental in bringing them down. As seen in the movie, Hamer (played by Denver Pyle in an uncharacteristically dour performance) is a kind of harsh Puritan ideologue, so righteous that when Bonnie (whom Dunaway has made us love) flirtatiously poses for a funny snapshot with him, he spits savagely in her face. He considers her so morally tainted that he is sickened by her. Then later, like a serpent in a garden, he coos...

Have you every met a person who personifies all the is good in America? In Olney that person is Clyde who passed away last Friday at age 89. Soon after getting back from the war, Clyde started Olney Electric and joined the Sandy Spring Legionnaires where he has been a member for the past 63 years. Clyde also started the Olney Chamber of Commerce in 1964. During the Chamber’s 40th Anniversary I had the honor of Clyde being my Honorary Co-President. We did a lot that year to celebrate the Chamber’s 40th. He is a Charter member (1946) of the...

American Indian activists and educators slammed Minnesota Education Commissioner Cheri Pierson Yecke on Monday for her take on one of American history's most controversial characters -- Christopher Columbus. It's the latest development in the hullabaloo over the state's proposed new social studies requirements. And it's added testimony to how sensitive people are about how their ancestors are portrayed in the history books and classrooms.

'Bonnie and Clyde' captured after six years of high living By Charles Laurence in New York (Filed: 14/09/2003) Dressed in Ralph Lauren, well-spoken and university educated, Craig Pritchert and Nova Guthrie were unlikely armed robbers. During six years on the run from the FBI, the modern-day Bonnie and Clyde outlaws lived the high life on the proceeds of a string of bank raids, taking holidays on the beaches of Belize and Colorado's ski slopes. Yesterday, however, they were finally behind bars after being spotted in Cape Town by a South African who saw the pair on the television show America's...
