DVD Slideshow Program? VANITY

I have more than one dvd creating program on my computer. I purchased Nero a couple of years back to create slideshows with our photography, but it constantly seizes up and dies, and I have to start over. Does anyone have a suggestion for a freeware program that's easy to use and would allow me to add music? Does anyone know anything about Slideshow GUI? I downloaded a trial version of Pro Show Gold, and it's VERY easy to use - it's just that our main business is construction related, and well, you know....

Accused Palin Hacker Is Misunderstood

Knoxville, TN—In what could land David Kernell in prison for up to five years, the hacking of Sarah Palin’s email account is, like David Kernell, completely misunderstood. On Wednesday, Kernell was charged with one felony count of accessing a protected computer for allegedly breaking into the private Yahoo e-mail account of Sarah Palin, R-AK, cooking up his own original recipe. Kernell has plead not guilty to the charge, and noted that he will have his day in court. “My time will come to give my side of the story,” stated Kernell, a 20-year old University of Tennessee student. “I believe...

Hey, You On FaceBook or MySpace, Yer a Commie

Well, maybe you're not a commie per se, but definitely a socialist. Not just a social fellow, either, but an outright socialist. OK, maybe you aren't even aware of why, maybe you haven't translated your FaceBook and MySpace, your Twitter and your Tagged into that outright socialism yet you are headed that way nonetheless. It is pushing you down the road to socialism. It is. No I mean it. I was born in the last years of the Baby Boomer generation -- believe me, I don't admit that proudly. The Baby Boomers have made one of the biggest messes in...

Technical suggestion for Free Republic

A humble suggestion. Link the "Title of Thread" dialog box to a SEARCH button that you have to click before you can fill out any more of the posting form. In other words, force a title search early on in the posting process. And have it return the URL of the post that it found, so the person who wanted to post the article could comment on the original thread. It'd go a LONG way towards eliminating duplicate posts, save disk space, make a cleaner database, and make FR more content-dense.

The Risk of ePassports and RFID

Today vonJeek/THC released his tool and a video how to duplicate (clone) and modify a Passport with RFID chip. http://freeworld.thc.org/thc-epassport/ The weakness is in the way the system has been rolled out. The terminal accepts self-signed data. This attack is different to the grunwald attack. VonJeek's attack makes it possible to copy, forge and modify the data so that it is still accepted as a genuine valid passport by the terminal. Using a Certification Authority (CA) could solve the attack but at the same time introduces a new set of attack vectors: 1. The CA becomes a single point of...

To over use a Jeff Foxworthy phrase, but “I are one”. Too many urbanites think being out in the country is akin to being down a few IQ points. Funny thing is (especially here in the south) those country drawls you here are a great IQ filter in themselves. Anyone who thinks a slow southern drawl indicates a slow mind pretty much tips their hand in the first few second of discourse (and I don’t mean ‘this course’).
Obama Significantly Revises Technology Positions

Barack Obama has edited his official website on many issues, including a huge revision on the technology page. Strangely it seems net neutrality is no longer as important as it was a few months ago, and the swaths of detail have been removed and replaced with fairly vague rhetoric. Many technologists were alarmed with the choice of Joe Biden before, and now it appears their fears might have been well founded.

In early October, I and a few friends of mine are going to be establishing a new website, that will be challenging the media and their slants. The reason for this is to make sure that facts are being provided, and not baseless pundency and blogs. We will hopefully be joining up with FreeRepublic, and otehr sites, to reach out to everyone across the country and make sure that the news is reported fairly and accurately. This will be a no BS zone. Thank you, and God Bless America!

Anyone else having problem sending searches to Google? I get to their search screen fine, then I enter search terms, then I get sent to a captcha page claiming that I am a bot. Tried deleting their cookies as suggested but that didn't help. They also suggest that there is a virus on my computer that performs google searches (LOL). One thing I thought of is that there might be google links on pages I have loaded so they see a lot of requests coming from my browser.

Women push back on Palin (Ultra Barf Alert)

That Thursday night, Barack Obama rocked the Mile High Stadium. Obama soared, McCain sank. Then the next week came Sarah Palin, who electrified the Republican convention and soon was the topic of conversation. The Obama campaign was eclipsed by the Palin din. What was at first surprise for many politically active women turned to disbelief and then to anger. Picking Palin was a transparent effort by McCain to woo Clinton supporters: “Vote for Palin, she is one of you.” But even a cursory look at her right-wing credentials proved she was not one with most of us. Nonetheless, her selection...

Blogger William Beutler ("Blog P.I.") accuses Barack Obama supporter Stephen Ewen of encouraging fellow activists to vandalize the Wikipedia entry on Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin. Wikipedia is the open-source (meaning anyone can edit it) online encyclopedia that was the site of a vicious battle between Obama and Hillary Clinton supporters earlier this year. Beutler notes that Ewen wrote on an Obama campaign listserv called Obama Rapid Response that the section of the Palin entry dealing with her political positions needed reworking.
