  • Vanity: Is Facebook getting ripped off with IPO?

I am watching the news before heading off to work and of course all the talk is about Facebook's IPO. Even one of the guys on CNBC was wearing a hoodie. There is all this talk about how tech IPOs have seen a "pop" in price of their new stock on average of 30%-40% on the first day of trading which would place Facebook as worth $50 on day 1 (35% over the IPO price of $38.) Why are Tech IPOs then systematically underpriced? If the Facebook IPO is so oversubscribed then why does Zuckerberg not say to whoever is...

“Is the rich world aware of how four billion of the six billion live? If we were aware, we would want to help out, we’d want to get involved.” – Bill Gates _____________________________ Dear Eduardo Saverin (if I may call you that), You were, as I’m sure you’re aware, born in Brazil to a wealthy family, and were moved to Miami when you were a child. To America, the land of opportunity. And boy, did you ever have a lot of opportunities. Your parents sent you to Harvard, where according to Wikipedia you “took advantage of Brazil’s lax insider trading...

NATO protestors have infiltrated the CPD computers with a worm that is wreaking havoc across the board. 35th Street and OEMC are in a full panic. The entire Department Intranet is in danger of a meltdown on an unimaginable scale, just in time for a potential "mass arrest" situation this weekend that would bring the Department to a grinding halt. George Zimmerman's new legal defense fund has raised over $15,000 this month, his attorney announced Wednesday. The $15,424 will be used to cover Zimmerman's ongoing living expenses and legal costs while he battles a second-degree murder charge in the Trayvon Martin shooting case, his lawyer wrote on gzlegalcase.com. The sum comes in addition to the $200,000-plus Zimmerman previously raised through a different website. That fund was shut down last month by attorney Mark O'Mara in favor of gzlegalcase.com, which has hired an independent monitor to ensure the money is only used for reasonable living expenses and legal costs. O'Mara posted...

I don’t generally talk about death threats against Sarah Palin. I feel these things only encourage more of them. But after talking with fellow blogger and friend Jackie, from the Sarah Palin Blog I feel this needs to be out there and talked about. First the tweet: (IMAGE AT LINK) Jackie has saved a progression of tweets where this blogger discusses this call for Sarah’s death. Click on the various photos on Jackie’s site to read them. The blogger shows concern that she might get in trouble and eventually deleted her Twitter account. She now has a new account, which...

On behalf of advancing equality, following the "evolution" of Barack Obama being made public, the President's campaign almost instantly added a line of 2012 products to store.barackobama.com that appealed exclusively to euphoric homosexual supporters. A few hours after the President 'came out' for same-sex marriage to Good Morning America news anchor Robin Roberts, who struggled as Obama spoke to contain her uncontrollable "chills," the campaign's website was awash in lesbian, gay, bi-sexual and transgender wares. The White House claimed that "President Obama's decision to reveal his personal position on gay marriage was not political - and it was not planned,"...

They decided to start two small shuttle services, with some service for locals. As the Williston Herald reported on April 2nd: “We initially intended to do the shuttle service, but until that really gets built up and people are aware, if people need rides home, we’re giving them rides home. WND’s Chelsea Schilling is a brave lady. She courageously took an assignment to go undercover on Facebook to expose the darkest, most sickening aspect of that social network: prevalent child rape imagery and video. The result of her gut-twisting investigation is a four-part series being published this week at WND. Part one, titled, “Kids Raped, Sodomized on Facebook Pages,” was published on Sunday. For the many millions of Facebook users, this is new information. As Ms. Schilling reports, not many people are aware that this side of Facebook exists. She is shining the light on this depraved, criminal enterprise, and...

    Central Florida News 13 ^ | May 7, 2012 | Scott McDonnell
Neither George Zimmerman, his attorney or the special prosecutor will be in court Tuesday for a scheduled arraignment. Zimmerman entered a not guilty plea to second-degree murder in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin weeks ago and waived his appearance for Tuesday. Attorney Mark O’Mara told News 13 that he planned on filing motions to protect the names of witnesses in the case. Once that is done, O’Mara said discovery or the state’s evidence will begin to flow. It’s likely attorneys for several major media companies will file their own motion to have that information made public. O’Mara continues to...

I was more than surprised to see where the judge presiding over George Zimmerman's case questioned the source of $200,000 collected online and donated to Zimmerman's defense fund. Given Zimmerman's modest stature in life, there were no donations from money moguls with deep pockets. These donations were from the rank and file of average American citizens with no expectation of reward from Zimmerman should he prevail. The judge knew this and it is obvious that he sided with Trayvon Martin's parents in wanting to know where the money came from, thereby casting a shadow of its legitimacy. Apparently the judge,...

The Obama Administration is demanding Congress pass legislation granting law enforcement greater access to personal cell phone records. “Right now we have to show probable cause to obtain a warrant for these kinds of records,” complained Deputy Assistant Attorney General Jason Weinstein. “This demands that we must present some evidence that we have reason to believe a crime has been or will be committed before we can get a judge to issue that warrant. This standard is too strict.” Weinstein argued that “a broader, more general authority to scrutinize cell phone activity would help us uncover crimes and other undesirable...

The U.S. media failed in its coverage of the Trayvon Martin case and many other race-related events and issues, a panel of journalists recently acknowledged at a W.K. Kellogg Foundation gathering. Roberto Lovato, co-founder of Presente.org, said the mainstream media “is just ill-equipped” to report on many complicated race-related factors in our society. “It’s embarrassing to watch the coverage.” Gregory L. Moore, editor of The Denver Post and moderator for the panel, questioned whether the pressures of a hyper-competitive, 24-hour news cycle contribute to the mistakes in coverage. For example, in the Martin case, the media initially reported that George...
