The inner democrat really comes out when it comes to the confederate battle flag. Those who wave it say they support your right to free speech as long as it agrees with us. Because if you disagree with us then you’re just uneducated. I’d expect that from democrats. It’s sad to hear that from republicans defending a flag born by democrats waved in battle against them and the United States. And I agree that democrat voters who oppose said flag are uneducated about it because their party created it in the 1st place, but republican voters who oppose it know...

John Schneider is blasting TV Land for its decision to erase from its schedule — due its depiction of the Confederate flag — reruns of The Dukes of Hazzard, the wholesome show that made the actor a teen idol in the 1980s. “The Dukes of Hazzard was and is no more a show seated in racism than Breaking Bad was a show seated in reality,” Schneider told The Hollywood Reporter on Wednesday. TV Land confirmed Wednesday that it pulled the show in the aftermath of the June 17 shooting in Charleston, S.C. perpetrated by Dylann Roof, who was a fan...

A man claiming responsibility for hanging a Confederate flag from a memorial for black soldiers says he didn’t intend it as a racist gesture—and in fact was protesting the symbol and what he believes it represents. Some who saw the flag hanging from the memorial—including a woman who took it down—interpreted its placement as a hateful gesture. The flag hung from a sword held by a sculpture of Col. Robert Gould Shaw, commanding officer of the Union Army’s Massachusetts 54th Regiment.

Charleston, SC (WLTX) - The historic site where the first shots of the Civil War were fired is no longer flying versions of the Confederate flag above it. The U.S. National Park Service ordered all flags to be taken down at Ft. Sumter in Charleston except for the American flag. The banners that were removed are neither the traditional Confederate flag that's most typically displayed by individuals, nor is it the battle flag version that currently flies in front of the South Carolina State House. Instead, the flags were the less frequently seen national flags of the Confederacy. The park...

In the wake of several Gettysburg-area stores making announcements on if they'll continue to sell Confederate flag-related merchandise, the Lutheran Theological Seminary is making its stand. Saturday, the day before a Living History event was slated to take place on the seminary's campus, the administration announced it would be banning symbols of hate speech and racism on seminary grounds, said the Rev. John Spangler, executive assistant to the president for communication and planning. The ban prohibits the display of the flag or flags associated with the Confederate States of America, Spangler said. "The subsequent use by other groups have made...

"Slavery was something that happened and it didn’t just happen in the South, it happened world wide. - I feel I’m a slave now because the federal government does control me, I can’t smoke what I want to smoke, I can’t drink what I want to drink. If I want to put something into my body, it’s my body, not theirs. So what gives them the right to tell me what I should do? That’s tyranny. But yet, and still, it’s only the Southerners and it’s only the battle flag that has all the weight and guilt on it. It’s...

NASCAR star Dale Earnhardt, Jr. opened up in a recent interview, discussing his strong opinions about the Confederate flag. When topic was raised by reporters at the Sonoma Raceway on Friday, the 40-year-old stock car driver did not bite his tongue when supporting the need to remove it. “I think it’s offensive to an entire race. It does nothing for anybody to be there flying, so I don’t see any reason.” Dale Earnhardt, Jr. further identified the one place where he feels the Confederate flag belongs and should remain. “It belongs in the history books and that’s about it.” USA...

The controversy over the display of the Confederate flag in the wake of the killing of nine black church members in Charleston, S.C., has reached the annual Union County Veterans Fourth of July Parade in Lewisburg. The 18th North Carolina Co. A re-enactors have been asked not to display the Confederate flag if it marches, parade chairman Kevin Bittenbender said Friday. The parade is scheduled to step off at 10 a.m. Saturday. The decision was made following a discussion by the parade committee's executive board, he said. He understands there will be some opposed to the decision, he said.

This video and that ISIS cake is evidence of the pure insanity in this country right now over political correctness. This is proof of how crazy insane this country has become. You can’t fly the Confederate flag, have it displayed anywhere, rumor has it the flag is being digitally removed from the Dukes of Hazzard or have it printed on a cake BUT if you want an ISIS cake made no problem! Walmart you have some explaining to do that you will deny making a Confederate flag cake (not to mention selling anything with the flag on it) but have...

While Dylan Roof may have wanted to see his murder of nine members of a South Carolina church Bible studies session inspire a race war, the aftermath has taken a different turn. Photos of Roof holding a Confederate flag have led to calls for the removal of this “odious symbol of oppression” from American life. All over the South, Confederate flags are being taken down from state houses, public parks, and memorials. At the Gettysburg National Historic Park all Confederate symbols have been taken down. Park Director Thomas Jackson asserted that “for too long we’ve accorded the treasonous rabble that...

On 06/25/15 I attempted to get an Edible image cake printed with the confederate flag image on it at Walmart. It was denied. The next day I had them do the same for the ISIS battle flag image I brought to them. They cheerfully did it. and sold me my ISIS cake. WTF Walmart! ISIS is beheading Christians, selling little girls into slavery, and is currently a terrorist org at war with the United States........but you can't buy the General Lee toy car at Wallmart? It's a damn shame.

On June 24, National Park Service Director Jonathan B. Jarvis asked park superintendents to work with their partners and bookstore operators to voluntarily withdraw from sale items that solely depict a Confederate flag. The National Park Service press release can be found here. "We strive to tell the complete story of America," National Park Service Director Jonathan B. Jarvis said of the agency's reputation for telling difficult parts of our history. "All sales items in parks are evaluated based on educational value and their connection to the park. Any stand-alone depictions of Confederate flags have no place in park stores."...

The debate about the Charleston Bible study shooting has morphed into a debate about the Confederate battle flag and other symbols of the Confederacy. This is not a trivial sideshow. Racism is not just a personal prejudice and an evolutionary byproduct. It resurfaces year after year because it’s been woven by historical events into the fabric of American culture. That culture is transmitted through the generations by the things we honor or don’t honor, by the symbols and names we celebrate and don’t celebrate. If we want to reduce racism we have to elevate the symbols that signify the struggle...

Memphis Mayor A.C. Wharton wants to dig up the bodies of Confederate General Nathan Bedford Forrest and his wife and remove them from a city park in the latest and perhaps most despicable example of the anti-Southern cleansing spreading across the nation. “Which African-American wants to have a picnic in the shadow of Nathan Bedford Forrest?” Wharton said in a Thursday press briefing.

Members of the Congressional Black Caucus are calling for a national ban on the use of the Confederate flag on any government property — including license plates. The CBC lawmakers introduced a resolution Thursday in the aftermath of last week's racially motivated shooting during Bible study at Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston, S.C., that killed nine people. "A hate crime of this nature must lead to effective legislation that will curtail similar incidences in the future," CBC Chairman G.K. Butterfield (D-N.C.) said in a statement.

CHARLESTON, S.C. (CBS Atlanta)– A North Charleston police officer was fired from his position after posting a photo on Facebook featuring the Confederate flag. WCIV reports the post, which featured the officer wearing Confederate flag boxer shorts, went viral Thursday after it was posted a few days earlier. The police chief terminated Sgt. Shannon Dildine’s position, saying the photo questioned his ability to improve trust and instill confidence between citizens and officers. “Your posting in this manner led to you being publicly identified as a North Charleston Police officer and associated both you and the Department with an image that...

The Confederate Flag Two Minutes Hate has reached a new level of stupidity - Apple is removing all games that depict a Confederate flag. I haven't weighed in on the subject of the Confederate Flag issue since almost every conceivable angle on it has pretty much been written. I'm pretty much in the "It belongs in a museum" camp that a lot of conservatives have expressed. I do think that moves to ban its private ownership and scrub this flag from society are wrong, though. I understand all of the con arguments and think they have merit. Here is my take...

Racist flag and Constitution? By Julio Severo It is trendy today to ban the Confederate flag in the U.S., but strangely there is no effort to ban Islamic flags and symbols. Allegedly, the Confederate flag is racist — because a deranged man, in very isolated case, killed some black evangelicals in a church, while Muslims slaughter plenty of Christians a day. Do you know what? One of these days it will be discovered that the U.S. flag — yes, the Old Glory — was made by Anglo-Saxon whites. It will be also discovered the U.S. Constitution was made by...

Calls to remove the Confederate flag are nothing but a “standard liberal impulse” that will accomplish nothing, conservative commentator Charles Krauthammer said Tuesday. “Had the flag not existed or not been on the grounds of the (South Carolina) capital, this massacre would have happened in any case,” Krauthammer said on Fox News’ “Special Report” Tuesday. “But it’s the standard liberal impulse.” “Something happened really bad. So there’s gotta be a problem and there has to be a solution, we must do something,” Krauthammer said, mimicking the liberal thought process. “Even if the ‘something’ is entirely irrelevant.”
