The slur goes something like "you had one job to do", but because I'm a geek, immersed in IT and knowledgeable about webmaster things, I know it's a spoke in a wheel. But when there's a Copyright List that every responsible FReeper goes to when posting from a source which isn't familiar, there's a reasonable expectation that following what's stated on the Copyright List page is correct. I, for one, have MUCH BETTER things to do than to spend the time - repeatedly - posting something to FR only to have the message pop up "Post blocked due to copyright...

I find Free Republic to be in a class by itself among conservative new aggregators, offering (without ads) a multitude of various articles throughout each day on the articles page in which FR provides up to a 100 word excerpt of what the poster posted. (And I myself choose to see 250 articles per page https://freerepublic.com/perl/settings page.) These excerpts provide the reader with an idea of of what the link is about and whether it is worth opening the link (like in a new tab) whereby the user can read the rest of excerpt, and which then enables one to...

04/17/2012 Constitution Party National Convention to Meet in Nashville Amidst Unprecedented Voter Dissatisfaction with Obama and Romney Constitution Party National Chairman, Jim Clymer, announced the 2012 National Convention of the Constitution Party which will be held April 18-21 in Nashville, Tennessee. “American voters who support limited, constitutional government, traditional American values, the protection of American jobs and preservation of individual liberty can take heart! They will not be limited to a difficult choice between Obama and Romney as the one likely to be the least threat to their life, liberty, property and other interests. The Constitution Party will be offering...

Earlier today she sent a copyright complaint. Then whined when I put her URL on the no post list. Now she's threatening some kind of legal action if I don't pull all of a certain poster's posts about her "in one hour!" Whiney little green-eyed beotch sure can sling the hash against Sarah and others, but apparently can't take it if someone slings a little back. As far as I know, it's not illegal to criticize members of the press (or of the wannabe political hack class).

A Batavia woman has been charged with adultery; she and a man are also facing a public lewdness charge. Batavia Police said it stems from an incident last Friday when witnesses called police to say the couple was having sex on a picnic table in Farrall Park around 5:15 p.m. Friday evening. Witnesses and police say children and parents were nearby. "I think it’s disgusting I mean that's totally wrong,” Danny Bastedo said of the incident that occurred just a few hundred feet from his back door. “I mean 5 o'clock in the afternoon, come on? That's crazy." "We don't...

Amy Bishop, the professor that killed three of University of Alabama-Huntsville biology faculty members and wounded three others after being denied tenure, had very mixed reviews on her teaching abilities, according to the Web site ratemyprofessor.com. While no students doubted her knowledge of the subject matter, a significant number of them accused Bishop of being an incompetent educator, unable to relate the subject matter to her students in a way that they could understand. In addition, several made references to political comments Bishop made, including one who said "she is a socalist but she only talks about it after class."...

The US government appears to be loosening its grip on the governance of the Internet, a move welcomed by many. But critics see the government shirking its obligations to support free expression and free trade. The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), the private corporation that coordinates the technical oversight of the Internet's Domain Name System through a longstanding agreement with the U.S. government, on Wednesday announced a new agreement with US Department of Commerce designed to make Internet governance less unilateral and more open to international input. Questioning NTIA's statutory authority, Auerbach suggests that if NTIA can...
