TRENTON, N.J. – The New Jersey Supreme Court says people posting in online message boards don't have the same protections for sources as mainstream journalists. The court ruled Tuesday that New Jersey's shield law for journalists does not apply to such message boards. The case involved a New Jersey-based software company named Too Much Media. It sued a Washington state blogger for defamation and wanted her to reveal sources she cited on message board posts.

by Mark Finkelstein July 14, 2006 - 11:28. Somebody please tell me what is funny or - more importantly - true about this cartoon. Is this really the view of Dan Wasserman and by extension the paper he works for - the Boston Globe? Do Wasserman and the Globe really believe that, in his heart, President George W. Bush is a torture-master of medieval proportions? Do they truly think that only international agreements and court decisions stand between him and the barbarous flaying of prisoners? Just what is the point, other than to express hatred and contempt for the sitting...

A few weeks ago I was watching a program on C-Span pertaining to the impact of foreign court opinions upon the U.S. justice system. The primary participants in the discussion were Supreme Court Justices Antonin Scalia and Stephen Breyer, and the event took place at the American University Law School in Washington D.C. rtsp://video.c-span.org/archive/sc/sc011305_scalia.rm The debate revolved around questions asked by a moderator named Professor Norman Dorsen, and the first multi-part question asked was, "When we talk about the use of foreign court decisions in U.S. Constitutional cases, what body of foreign law are we talking about? Are we limiting...

SPRINGFIELD, IL- The State Supreme Court has allowed a woman who served a prison term in Florida for the death of her child to regain custody of a 3year old boy after she moved to Illinois. The case stems from the 1989 death of Hardy's 2 year old son Bradley McGee in Florida. Hardy testified that she smoked a cigarette while her former husband Thomas Coe punished the boy for soiling his pants by lifting him by his ankles and repeatedly dunking him in a toilet. Bradley died the next day of head injuries. A medical examiner counted more than...

Despite our supposedly three co-equal branches of government, the judiciary has always been, with a nod to George Orwell, the “more equal” branch. So, too, in the War on Terrorism. While the President may direct that war and the Congress may fund it, the courts and the Supreme Court make the rules. As we have recently seen, those rules can have potentially disastrous consequences. For the complete article, go to: http://www.frontpagemag.com/Articles/ReadArticle.asp?ID=15628

Editor's note: The truncated spelling of the Creator's name below is done in according to Jewish Law. It is not meant to be disrespectful. http://www.NewsAndOpinion.com | There are two ways to look at the decision by the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals upholding its ruling last June in which it declared the Pledge of Allegiance clause "One nation, under G-d " violates the constitutional prohibition against government established religion. One way is for politicians of both parties to demagogue the ruling for votes. Many of them don't pay much attention to G-d when it comes to the great moral issues...
