CNN's John King is attracting a lot of notice -- and some ridicule -- in the blogosphere for his on-air apology after a guest used the word "crosshairs" during a report on Chicago politics Tuesday. (The guest, a former Chicago reporter, referred to two rivals of mayoral candidate Rahm Emanuel, saying Emanuel is "in both of their crosshairs.") "We were just having a discussion about the Chicago mayoral race," King told viewers. "My friend Andy Shaw…used the term 'in the crosshairs' in talking about the candidates out there. We're trying, we're trying to get away from that language. Andy is...

State Comptroller Alan Hevesi publicly apologized Thursday for a “beyond dumb” remark about “putting a bullet between the president’s eyes.” Hevesi hastily called a mea culpa press conference hours after putting his foot in his mouth at the Queens College commencement. The Queens College media relations office said it had videotaped the commencement but could not immediately provide a copy of the tape or a transcript. At the press conference, a contrite Hevesi repeated what he recalled saying in the speech. The comptroller said he was merely trying to convey that Sen. Charles Schumer has strength and courage to stand...

Has it come to this? So will every future armed robbery at 7-11's be blamed on Palin? Will the next horrific kidnapping&burglary resulting in a home burning be blamed on Palin? Will the next time a bank robber kills two innocent bystanders or another Columbine be blamed on Sarah Palin? If the Left keeps this up through 2012,the next election will become "The War On Liberals". And we will finally shut them up for good come November 2012!

Today Rush Limbaugh wanted to make it perfectly clear that anyone thinking political rhetoric in the 1980’s was more civil than it is today doesn’t remember the Reagan era very well. Rush claimed the “hatred for Ronald Reagan was universal in the Democrat party and throughout the media” and that the discourse was just as vitriolic with Reagan being directly blamed for the spread of AIDS, homelessness and every other bad thing imaginable. Why Rush discussed this history was to justify his skepticism about the left’s “call for civility” as nothing more than censorship.

A new U.S. EPA analysis requested by Sen. Russ Feingold (D-Wis.) is spawning a lobbying frenzy among Midwestern utilities that claim the document shows they will be treated unfairly under federal climate legislation. They say the assessment (pdf) reveals that states like California will receive a financial windfall under a global warming bill, while states like Wisconsin will not get enough help and will have to spike electricity rates as a result. "The EPA document just confirms the formula will disadvantage Midwest states for decades to come while the coastal states will hit a 'federal jackpot' every year over the...

It was during this time that I was given a book called ‘The Reagan Revolution’, which not only helped shape my opinion of The Gipper as one of the greatest presidents ever, but the work also introduced me to someone who would become one of my idols in the world of punditry: Robert Novak.

February 21, 2009 Message from AJAY to MN.Governor Tim Pawlenty: I had regarded you as an excellent conservative prospect for a presidential run. But that all ended as I watched you, recently, a couple of times on Crossfire on MSNBC. Chris Matthews, who is far beyond minimally respectable, has used you as his butt-boy on Crossfire You provide him with some level of respectability by just being there and even more by letting him run right all over you. This is a man who had Karl Rove's so-called "indictment" announced on his program. He called President George Bush a war...

FROM 2001 CNN CROSSFIREPresident Bush said the shaky economy proves the need for his tax cut. The Democrats say it's all his fault. The market would still be strong if he hadn't been so negative in his public comments. On energy, the opposite debate is raging. Reacting to California blackouts, Energy Secretary Spencer Abraham warned the entire nation faces an energy crisis that could change people's lives. Democrats counter that he and Bush are just trying to scare Congress into supporting new drilling up in the Alaskan wilderness. So tonight, two fronts: Is Bush talking down the economy? Is...

Like a furniture store's endless "grand opening sale", or a tourist shop's perpetual "going out of business" sign, The Bill Press Show has had a nonstop series of "debuts". Each time, however, this production moves a bit further off-Broadway. The Radio Equalizer has written quite a lot about his syndicated radio program's failure to pick up affiliates and its questionable financial backers. From at least two industry trade publications, Press is getting a free pass. Inside Radio left out the controversy involving his sleazy investors, while Radio & Records actually pretended it was a new show:

Excerpt from L.D. Brown's book -- CROSSFIRE: Witness in the Clinton Investigation ======================================================= Barry Spivey, one of the troopers who suffered the Clintons' first term, witnessed my somewhat rude and unexpected introduction to 'Ms. Hillary Rodham' as Barry called her. It was an experience mirrored bythe Secret Service presidential protection detail's miserable introduction to the lamp-breaking Hillary years later in her first days at the White House. On moving-inday at the Mansion, I was unfortunate enough to draw the duty for the weekend day assignment providing security as the newly elected couple transferred their personal effects to their regained throne....

ASPEN, Colo. (AP) - A panel discussion on whether cable debate shows like CNN's recently canceled "Crossfire" have screamed themselves out of business ended in - what else - a shouting match. Panelists including comedian Janeane Garofalo, conservative talk show host Laura Ingraham and former White House press secretary Joe Lockhart were alternately cheered and jeered at the U.S. Comedy Arts Festival Saturday. Garofalo rankled some audience members with her comment that not only does "the Republican message dominate the public conversation, but that in my opinion, 90 percent of it is false." Ingraham retorted, "The American left is so...

CNN has ended its relationship with the conservative commentator Tucker Carlson and will shortly cancel its long-running daily political discussion program, "Crossfire," the new president of CNN, Jonathan Klein, said last night. Mr. Carlson said he had actually quit "Crossfire" last April and had agreed to stay on until his contract expired. He said he had a deal in place for a job as the host of a 9 p.m. nightly talk program on MSNBC, CNN's rival. One NBC News executive said that no deal had been completed between MSNBC and Mr. Carlson. "Tucker is a great journalist and we...

Tucker Carlson is leaving Crossfire tomorrow 1/6/05. This will be his last day with the long running political debate show. 202-994-8CNN for tickets to be there. Rumor is that he is upset with CNN. What will happen to Crossfire now? Who will replace him?

In 41 years as a pundit, Robert D. Novak has rarely shied from controversy. As a syndicated columnist and fixture on cable-news shoutfests, Mr. Novak has opined from the right about some of the biggest stories of his time. He has been a stout cold warrior, a critic of Israeli policies and a passionate defender of military veterans who criticized Senator John Kerry's Vietnam War record. But now Mr. Novak, 73, finds himself a central figure in perhaps the gravest confrontation between the government and the press in a generation, and he has been uncharacteristically circumspect. With a federal judge...

I am a huge fan of the Daily Show from New York, which airs on the Comedy Network at 11:00 p.m., Monday to Friday. It is a first rate, satirical program, poking fun mostly at politicians, but also taking on a variety of other puffed-up targets, like Dr. Phil. Jon Stewart, the host, is clearly an informed and very bright man. In the past year, the show has increased its audience by 22 percent and this year it won an Emmy. The show's writers have produced a best-selling book, America: A Citizens' Guide to Democracy Inaction. That cheeky title gives you...

The left and the right on CNN's "Crossfire" finally have found something they can come together on. Both sides hate "Daily Show" host Jon Stewart. Round 2 of "Crossfire" vs. Jon Stewart: On Friday, you'll recall, the Comedy Central late-night star appeared on CNN's afternoon screamfest, ostensibly to promote "America (The Book): A Citizen's Guide to Democracy Inaction." Instead, to the surprise of hosts Tucker Carlson and Paul Begala, Stewart blasted the show and the two men personally, calling them "partisan hacks" who "have a responsibility to the public discourse" but "fail miserably." Carlson, who also has a public policy...

For anyone watching Crossfire. Jon Stuart (spelling) host of the Daily Show is being deadly serious and is calling the show a lot of crap, that the show is hurting america, the show is bad, the hosts are political hackery, that the show is to debate as much as the WWF is to real wrestling.

CNN CROSSFIRE HOST AND KERRY CONSULTANT PAUL BEGALA: "I think politically it’s unwise for John Kerry to be going after the gun control issue. Honestly, I think it’s a political mistake." ED ROGERS: "He should listen to you." BEGALA: "He should, but he doesn't." (CNN’s “Crossfire,” 9/13/04)

SHOW: CNN CROSSFIRE 19:30 pm ET November 12, 1997; Wednesday 7:30 pm Eastern Time Transcript # 97111200V20 JOHN SUNUNU, CROSSFIRE: Senator Kerry, in fact, in spite of the administration claiming it has restored unanimity, that has not occurred. All the strength of this resolution had to be pulled out of it get any votes at all other than our own. Isn't this exercise actually counterproductive in sending a signal to Iraq that the coalition still remains frayed? SEN. JOHN KERRY, (D), MASSACHUSETTS, FOREIGN RELATIONS COMMITTEE: Well, John, you're correct that this resolution is less than we would have liked. I...

During a 1997 debate on CNN's "Crossfire," Democratic presidential front-runner John Kerry made the case for launching a pre-emptive attack against Iraq, according to Rep. Peter King, R-N.Y., who appeared with Kerry on the program. King recounted the debate for WABC Radio's Monica Crowley on Saturday, recalling that at the time, the U.N. Security Council had just adopted a resolution against Iraq that had been watered down at the behest of the French and the Russians. Back then, however, the candidate who now criticizes President Bush for ignoring French and Russian objections to the Iraq war, criticized the two countries...

Cnn's Crossfire will be dealing with the "Passion Of the Christ" but a last minute change in focus (Why are the actors white?) has cost one guest her seat at the panel. A conservative Roman Catholic youth director, who held her own screening of "The Passion" for her Montgomery County Maryland parish, was to be a guest to discuss the movie. While the main focus was to be the violence and percieved antisemitism of the movie, gay marriage was also going to be discussed. As she prepared for the "grilling", the guest was informed they no longer needed her as...

CNN's Tucker Carlson Angry Over Phone Flap Mon Sep 29,10:54 AM ET Add Strange News - AP to My Yahoo! WASHINGTON - Conservative CNN commentator Tucker Carlson's snide humor backfired on him — and his wife. While defending telemarketers during a segment on "Crossfire" last week, the bow-tied co-host was asked for his home phone number. Carlson gave out a number, but it was for the Washington bureau of Fox News, CNN's bitter rival.
-
Phone Wars CNN's Tucker Carlson thought he was having a bit of fun when, during a "Crossfire" segment in which he defended telemarketers, he was asked for his home number but recited the number of the Fox News Washington bureau instead. Fox retaliated by posting Carlson's unlisted Virginia number on its Web site. After his wife was deluged with obscene calls, Carlson says, he went to Fox's Capitol Hill bureau Friday to complain, and was told his number would be taken down if he apologized on the air. Fox spokeswoman Irena Briganti says Carlson was "completely irresponsible" and that the...

Sen. John Edwards, trying to restart his flagging presidential campaign, scheduled a second straight soft interview with ABC's George Stephanopoulus Aug. 14 without making himself available to the other three Sunday talk shows in proper rotation. On July 10, Edwards wrote Tim Russert of NBC's "Meet the Press" that "I'm looking forward to finding the time to come to your show." The senator admittedly had not performed well under Russert's questioning May 5, 2002. Edwards has kept away from "Meet the Press" since then, while finding time to engage in easygoing dialogue aboard his campaign van with Stephanopoulus that was...

Another round of looniness from left-wing activist/actress Janeane Garofalo as the co-host in the left chair on CNN's Crossfire this week. On Monday she held the Bush administration "responsible" for the blackout. On Wednesday afternoon she blamed the Bush team for the terrorist attack on the UN hotel: "It is the Bush/Cheney cartel's fault for this." Railing against the Bush administration's efforts to pass and now argue in favor of the benefits of the Patriot Act, Garofalo raised Nazism. Playing off how George W. Bush is the 43rd President, she charged: "It is in fact a conspiracy of the 43rd...

Warm and fuzzy, cute and cuddly have absolutely nothing in common with the venom spewing Leftist, Janeane Garofalo. Janeane makes her living as a comedienne and as an actor, but her calling seems to be that of emulating a shrew on a bad hair day. Janeane is now co-host of CNN’s faltering Crossfire TV show, at least for a week anyway. No doubt the wisest at CNN understands their prospective audience far better than ordinary folks who just tune in. In their infinite wisdom they chose to have a spokesperson of Janeane’s unique qualifications to represent the Left and democrats...

Nato wounded in crossfire over Iraq By Stephen Castle in Brussels, Andrew Grice and Kim Sengupta in London 11 February 2003 Nato faced one of the most serious crises of its 54-year history yesterday when divisions over Iraq burst into the open and the United States fiercely criticised three European member nations. Exposing a deep rift in the alliance, France, Germany and Belgium blocked moves to defend their Nato ally Turkey in the event of war in the region. Nicholas Burns, America's ambassador to Nato, described the actions of the three countries as "inexcusable" and warned that the alliance faced...

The exceptional nastiness of Paul Begala on yesterday's "Crossfire" is yet another example of petty, bitter Democrats who are incapable of accepting defeat with any grace or dignity: BEGALA: No party has gained seats in an off year since the last midterm. Look, you guys, you pick up, what, three seats in the House and two seats in the Senate and you get your panties in a wad. And you all have a celebration. You need a party, go out and have one, but this is a little... BEGALA: Bob Walker, I want to second what Tony said, congratulations to...

Ron Silver is filling in as the liberal co-host on Crossfire right now! This is pathetic! Is this the best CNN can do? Silver is a total idiot. He just declared the NRA a "terrorist organization", Bob Barr is on as a guest and is attempting to educate Silver, but it is a wasted effort.

Is anyone else watching Crossfire? Ron Silver is the least offensive host since they changed the format.

WASHINGTON -- Sometimes, a nut with a gun is only a nut with a gun. If the moment is right, though, a nut with a gun becomes the stuff of political mythologies. This comes to mind as I sit in the shadow of Capitol Hill, penned in by the sniper who has laid siege to this town's suburban perimeter all week. In the midst of this peculiarly American form of fear, I am kept aloft with a diet of crab cakes and bourbon, and a very thick and fitting new book, Jesse James: Last Rebel of the Civil War.Mr. James was...

I'm not sure how long its been since they came up with the "new and improved" Crossfire, but I think the show is really terrible. Carville is too much for me and even Tucker Carlson has rubbed me the wrong way of late. So, what is CNN doing? I would think that this was supposed to be one of their prizes of their reshuffling, but so far its a poor show and with the failure of Connie Povich, the folks over at CNN must be itching for some changes. What can they do? Carville, Novak, Begala and Carlson don't seem...

BEGALA: Well, "The Center Daily Times" of Pennsylvania has dunked right- wing blowhard columnist Ann Coulter, calling her quote "either a hater or a hypocrite" unquote. Course, that's wrong. Coulter is both. Here's proof.

SNIP...CARVILLE: Obviously, September 11 won't be just another ordinary day in America's classrooms. This week, the National Education Association's Web site put up links of dozens of lesson plans covering kindergarten through high school. It's no surprise, right-wingers found something they didn't like. Pretty soon, they were screaming suburbia's (ph) teachers are trying to poison the minds of unsuspecting patriotic children. Nothing could be further from the truth. But when has that ever stopped the right wing before? Here to talk about what should be teaching on September 11 are Jean Abinader, managing director of the Arab American Institute; and...
