A succession of high profile left wing decisions and initiatives of recent weeks drive home the extent to which the left is changing the face of America. Notable among these are the decision of a federal appeals court in California to uphold a prior court decision finding California’s Proposition 8, defining marriage as between a man and a woman, unconstitutional; the reversal of a decision, due to a tsunami of left wing pressure, of the Susan G. Komen Foundation to withdraw its funding to Planned Parenthood; and the Obama administration rulemaking refusing to grant a religious exemption from the new...

Bayh warned that stripping Lieberman of his chairmanship position on the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee could prompt the Democrats' 2000 vice presidential nominee to side with the GOP on close votes next Congress or resign his Senate seat. If he resigns, Connecticut's Republican Gov. Jodi Rell would replace Lieberman with a temporary two-year appointment, likely a GOP senator.

As voters left the polls on Election Day, many were asked how they would have voted if the election match-up were between Hillary Clinton and John McCain rather than Barack Obama and McCain. 52 percent said they would have backed the former Democratic candidate; 41 percent would have voted for McCain, wider than Obama’s 7-point margin over McCain.

If you know the answer to this question, you know who our next President will be. While it is possible for McCain to win even if this factor is negligible, he would need to get virtually all of the undecided’s to break his way. That is theoretically possible but it is mostly wishful thinking on the part of McCain-Palin supporters. For every undecided voter either candidate picks up, it takes a vote out of the undecided column and adds one to that candidate's total. However, the spread between the two candidates only goes up by one vote. That is not...

In a recent posting, I went on the record to say that John McCain should win the presidential election Tuesday, and I listed five reasons which lead me to this conclusion. They are media bias, pollster oversampling of Democrats, Obama campaign hubris, the Democrat candidate's many suspect associations and the fact that the American electorate has a center-right majority. There is a sixth reason to believe that the GOP candidate will pull this one out of the fire, and, like the other five, it is a topic you won't read much about in the newspapers or see on the alphabet...

I am an ex-democrat conservative, which puts me in great company with the likes of Ronald Reagan, and others. To have once been a die-hard Democrat is to understand the left and be able to emphasize (not necessarily agree) with their views. To be a conservative independent is to understand the left is not always right, and the liberal left is rarely right. To not be a Republican means I refuse to be trapped in party mob think, and there are folks on the far right who can turn me off as fast as a rabid socialist liberal. If you...

The Democrats in key swing states are splitting for McCain in big numbers. This effect has either not been noted, or has been ignored, by most pundits. Democrats are beaming that their party is outperforming the Republicans in early voting, releasing numbers Wednesday that show registrants of their party ahead 54 percent to 30 percent among the 1.4 million voters who have gone to the polls early. Poll gives McCain lead in Florida early voting Yet, a poll of early voters in Florida provides a curious anomaly. A Los Angeles Times/Bloomberg poll gave McCain a 49-45 lead over Democrat Barack...

By Alan Fram and Trevor Tompson, Associated Press Writers Barack Obama's support from backers of Hillary Rodham Clinton is stuck smack whwre it was in June, a poll showed Tuesday, a stunning lack of progress that is weakening with members of the Democratic Party in the close presidential race. An Associated Press-Yahoo! News poll shows that among adults who backed his rival during their bitter primary campaign percent now support Obama. That is the same percentage who said so in June...

Dear Members of the Republican Party, Like millions of other PUMAs, the only thing I’ve decided about this election is that under no circumstances would I be voting for Barack Obama. However, like millions of other PUMAs I have also realized that the only way to ensure that Barack Obama is not elected President is if John McCain wins on November 4th. In the last few months, I have watched with amazement as you have worked hard to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory in the Presidential election. In your public and private utterances you have been pessimistic, downcast,...

Gov. Sarah Palin met with a group of Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton’s former supporters Tuesday evening at a special fund-raising reception organized for them on behalf of the Republican ticket. The reception, which organizers said brought in more than $500,000, was part of an extended evening of fund-raising for Ms. Palin and Senator John McCain’s presidential campaign at the Grand Hyatt in New York that officials estimated raised more than $8 million. Ms. Palin, along with her husband, Todd, mingled and posed for pictures with the group of about 20, before appearing at the larger finance event, which McCain campaign...

Okay, everyone likes to talk about polls so much. Well, how about we look at some 2004 exit poll data and apply some common sense from what we are actually seeing on the ground too. There was 37% Democratic turnout (same as Republican makeup) on Election Day, which means there were about 44.77 million Democratic voters that day. Per the exit polls Kerry received 89% of Democrats (same as Gore did), which means that he received about 39.85 million Democratic votes. For sake of argument, let us assume a similar total voter turnout of 121 million, yet give the Democrats...

I see the polls, and by all the looks, Obama is winning BUT he is NOT over 50% in most polls and the MccCain vote is in the low 40s or even high 30s (Fox) this is nonsense, and us conservatives KNOW it Here is my though The Hillary voters who HATE Barry and will never vote for him must be at least 30% that is about 0.3 * 18 Million = 6 million folks My theory is that they are ALL SAYING thy will vote for Barry, and then come election day will not only NOT vote for him...

To win this election, it is important to convince reasonable Democrats (and there are lots of them in several key states) that the Obama/Biden is bad news and that McCain/Palin is the superior ticket. For those of you who want to be active and have a positive impact on this effort, here's a flyer that is sure to cause some commotion around the water cooler. Ronald Reagan famously said "I didn't leave the Democratic Party, it left me." I'm seeing this sentiment a lot, most recently in a friend of mine. He's gay, he's Wiccan, he's Democratic – until he changes his registration. I suspect the Democratic Party has left most of its members; it just takes a major shock to get any given person to notice. Wizbang has posted a letter from someone who finally had to pay attention to having been deserted by his party. To the readers of Wizbang: I write this to you as a lifelong Democrat, as someone who has...

ARLINGTON, VA -- The McCain-Palin presidential campaign today announced the endorsement of Miguel D. Lausell, Senior Political Advisor to Hillary Clinton, and Clinton Delegate-at-Large Luchy Secaira. "Although I supported Hillary during the primaries, I now support John McCain and Governor Palin because I am putting my country first," said Secaira, former Hillary Clinton Florida Delegate-at-Large. "They have the experience and judgment to lead America through these difficult times, and I trust them to work with Democrats to do the right thing for our country." Lausell, who advised Senator Clinton on a variety of issues including international trade, telecommunications and Latino...

It was a beautiful sight to behold. The obviously pro-Obama Campbell Brown snarling throughout an interview at the heels of former Hillary Clinton fundraiser and now McCain supporter, Lynn Forester de Rothschild, for "daring" to switch sides. After several minutes of accusing de Rothschild of everything from being an elitist to acting as a traitor to the Democrats, Campbell Brown set herself up for the grand slam dunk by Ms Rothschild using the very words of the Lightworker to turn the tables on the CNN interviewer. First we see in the transcript how Campbell Brown begins with an elitism charge...

The announcement will take place at a news conference on Capitol Hill, just blocks away from the DNC headquarters. Forester will “campaign and help him through the election,” the spokesman said of her plans to help the Republican presidential nominee. Despite it all, Sen. Joe Lieberman still considers himself a Democrat. "I do, I do," he said in an interview Monday. An Open Letter to Democrats, Republicans, and Independents by DONEDems.com September 6, 2008 To whom it may concern: We, as supporters of Hillary Rodham Clinton, are alarmed by the vile denigration of Sarah Palin and her family by unsavory elements of the media glitterati and the fringe left. These sensationalist bigots attack Gov. Palin’s motherhood, insinuating that she cannot achieve what male Vice-Presidents have done for decades in balancing family life and executive duty. We wonder why this has never been asked of John McCain, father of seven; Barack Obama, father of two; nor of Joe Biden, who began his...

Jews Are Active in Groups of Democrats, Independents, and Undeclared Voters for McCain by Susan Rosenbluth, Editor, Jewish Voice and Opinion September 2008 Jeffrey Golkin is a long-time Democrat, a party affiliation he refused to abandon even when he ran for town council in Warren Township, NJ. Friends and neighbors, who supported his candidacy, told him that, to win, he’d have to change his party. But Mr. Golkin proved them wrong, and went on to become Warren’s first—and, thus far, only—Democratic town councilman. This fall, Mr. Golkin, an attorney who practices in Manhattan, is leading the New Jersey branch of...

Three memories have shaped my approach to this year’s general election. Here’s the first. In the late 1970s, during a two-year break from teaching to raise our second son, an adopted child, I found myself at a Los Angeles dinner party filled with DINKs, the “double income, no kids” crowd who were just emerging as a self-aware and upwardly mobile social group. I fell to talking—or more accurately, listening—to a chatty young female attorney who said she was putting in eighty hours a week as a junior associate on a variety of important cases. After twenty minutes or so, she...

Thank you for that warm welcome. I am honored to be here. We meet tonight in the wake of a terrible storm that has hit the Gulf Coast but that hurts all of us, because we are all members of our larger American family. At times like this, we set aside all that divides us, and we come together to help our fellow citizens in need. What matters is certainly not whether we are Democrats or Republicans, but that we are all Americans. The truth is, it shouldn’t take a hurricane to bring us together like this. Every day, across...

I’ve seen post after post on Hillary forums about how much they love Sarah, how they are energized and lifted out of depression by her (and the sight of an actual Roll Call made some of them weep). They gush about how she reminds them of their hero, how tough and savvy and unafraid she is. And I have seen these women, hard-core, feminist Democrats for 30 years and more, sit in slack-jawed amazement at Palin and at how fiercely Republicans — Republicans! — are defending her, backing her, and cheering her to the rafters. These Clinton supporters say they...

8/17/00New York Post By John Podhoretz EXCERPT Joe Lieberman, the vice-presidential nominee, who has spent 10 days fleeing from his own convictions, last night (giving his VP speech) fled from the eloquence of his speech on the Senate floor two years ago denouncing Bill Clinton's immorality. Hanging around Al Gore seems to have reduced Lieberman to baby-boomer solipsism: In this speech, as in so many of his speeches these last 10 days, he treated his elevation not as the assumption of a solemn responsibility but like he won the Lotto. Excuse me, but what does all this sentimental Oscar-acceptance-speech junk...

Democrats attack Lieberman, saying he lied to delegates (CNN) -- Democrats accused fellow lawmaker Sen. Joe Lieberman of misleading the Republican National Convention when he addressed them in a speech Tuesday night. A senior Barack Obama campaign adviser said Lieberman flat-out lied when he told delegates that Obama never successfully reached across party lines. "Joe Lieberman ought to be ashamed of himself for some of the things he said tonight, not as a Democrat but as an American," adviser Robert Gibbs said on "Larry King Live." Lieberman, an independent senator from Connecticut who was the Democratic vice presidential candidate alongside...

Gore’s 2000 running mate says Obama would be a fine leader — later Sen. Joe Lieberman of Connecticut, the Democrats’ vice presidential nominee in 2000, urged Democrats to cross party lines Tuesday night and cast their votes for Sen. To those who watched Senator Clinton’s speech last week, many found it to be more about her and her failed campaign than support for Barack Obama. Many thought it was more about her sending messages to her supporters about how she’ll be back and if you don’t support Obama, oh well. She kept a straight face to try to hide the animosity created during the Democrat Civil War where millions think she was abandoned by her party. This and the treatment by the Obama campaign has sent many angry voters to the McCain camp. The choice of Governor Sarah Palin...

Lest you doubt whether he’s really a diehard Democrat or merely, a la those pro-Obama “lifelong Republicans” the media always seems to find, a conservative who’s donated to the left on occasion, here’s his page at Open Secrets. Coale may be the first Hillaryite I’ve heard of who’s supporting Maverick mainly because he’s a maverick and not because of some exaggerated sense of grievance over Hillary’s treatment — although the line about the party being taken over by MoveOn.org is tantalizing in its implications. 'Meet the Press' transcript for August 31, 2008 **SNIP** MS. ANDREA MITCHELL: Well, they, they think now that they have a story. They have a story of a working mom, she is a colorful character, an Annie Oakley, you know, Annie get your gun. They love her story. So she can use the Hillary Clinton and Geraldine Ferraro analogy if she wants to in interviews. She cannot use that at Republican rallies. She is...
