NEW YORK (AP) — Some relief from suffocating gas prices will likely arrive just in time for summer vacation. Expect a drop of nearly 50 cents as early as June, analysts say. After rocketing up 91 cents since January, including 44 straight days of increases, the national average this past week stopped just shy of $4 a gallon and has retreated to under $3.98. A steady decline is expected to follow.

The Map The Crystal Ball’s First 2011 Take on 2012’s Electoral College Larry J. Sabato, Director, U.Va. Center for Politics April 21st, 2011With 18 months to go until November 2012, there is exactly one use for a current projection of the 2012 Electoral College results. This is merely a baseline from which we can judge more reliable projections made closer to the election. Where did we start–before we knew the identity of the Republican nominee for president, the state of the economy in fall 2012 and many other critical facts? And so, with that enormous caveat in mind, here is...

As we conclude this amazing election campaign, we have just one question for our readers: When has an incumbent candidate ever won when he is tied with his challenger on election eve? The answer is never--at least in the age of polling that began in the 1930s. So George W. Bush needs to beat history, and the polls, to win the election tomorrow. It is possible that the vagaries of the Electoral College will enable Bush to eke out a victory, and it is also possible that the Republican Party's get out the vote effort will equal or exceed the...

NEW YORK (CNN/Money) - If the historical performance of the Dow Jones industrial average is an indicator, John Kerry will be the 44th President of the United States. According to a study by the Hirsch Organization, publishers of the Stock Trader's Almanac, if the Dow loses more than 0.5 percent of its value from the end of September to Election Day, then an incumbent president is going to lose his job. The Dow has lost 0.75 percent of its value over the past month. This predictor has been true without exception every four years, from 1904 to the present, according...
  • Objectively, what do you think will happen on Election DAy?

I am a new poster here and am so thankful I've found this forum. I love President Bush, but am so concerned about what will happen. All this talk about "preemptively claiming voter fraud" and the thought of another Flordia mess makes me worry - the thought of Kerry being elected downright scares me. I don't like the way he is flat-out lying to people my age (20s) about the draft, and scaring the elderly -- so many people are uninformed and buy into all the Michael Moore-esque garbage. Living in the South, I only know a handful of folks...

  • Has Iraq Smuggled 2-3 Nuclear Devices into U.S. waiting detonation? Washington Says Yes

The United States last week delivered a secret ultimatum to Baghdad, a warning not to use non-conventional weapons on any account in the coming conflict. DEBKA-Net-Weekly’s intelligence sources have learned that a secret high-level emissary entered Iraq under cover to put Baghdad on notice that if non-conventional weapons were wielded by Iraq, the US would not hesitate to level its cities with a nuclear bomb. Washington acted after discovering that Iraq had smuggled two or three nuclear devices at least into the United States for detonation by sleeper cells planted by Iraqi intelligence. The American ultimatum included a demand...
