Dell tech flashes woman with (her own) jubblies {breasts}

A DellConnect IT specialist has been accused of intercontinental sexual hijinx for remotely flashing a woman client with a nude photo - of herself. According to a report in The Orange County Register out of Santa Ana, California, 45-year-old Stacy Gore received the boobular surprise when she was working with an India-based Dell tech-support drone to disinfect her virus-infected PC. After a reported two and a half hours of remote ministrations to the ailing computer, Gore was surprised to find herself staring at her own breasts - onscreen, that is. "It creeped me out," she told the OCR. The DellConnect...

State Attorney General Andrew Cuomo’s campaign took money from law firms that represent clients his office investigated or accused of wrongdoing... Boies Schiller & Flexner LLP contributed $35,000 this year to Cuomo’s campaign. The firm, led by David Boies, represents Maurice “Hank” Greenberg, the former AIG CEO, who is fighting a civil fraud case the attorney general filed. Attorneys for Dell Inc., Deutsche Bank and former Liberal Party chief Raymond Harding also contributed to Cuomo. The AG’s office has been involved with disputes with each of them....
Dell closing Winston-Salem plant

Dell plans to close its computer manufacturing plant in Winston-Salem by January, and lay off 905 employees. Dell opened the assembly plant in 2005 and was offered a massive incentives package valued at $305 million if it met hiring and investment goals. The project was seen as a major economic development victory by supporters and a huge waste of taxpayer money by critics. About 600 workers at the plant will be let go next month, Dell announced this afternoon. The rest will be out of work by early next year. The closure of the Forsyth County plant is part of...

Dell V305 Printer Problems

The Dell V305 printer came with my new Dell computer (Vista Home Premium OS). The printer works okay but there are times when it will not print documents from the computer. I get a pop up that says the computer is not communicating with the printer even though everything is plugged in properly and the settings have not been touched. I have heard that this happens with the V305. It has wireless capabilities but I use the USB option instead. If you had to choose another printer that does not fail you, what would it be? Would need a printer/copier/scanner...

Dell: Linux Netbook High Return Rate 'Non-Issue'

I think we can finally put a certain myth to rest that's been circling around the web for a while now. Microsoft often claimed that netbooks running Linux saw higher return rates than those running Windows, but according to Dell, this is utter nonsense. Todd Finch, Dell senior product marketing manager, spoke at OpenSource World, and in his talk he made it quite clear that Dell's Ubuntu netbooks see no higher return rates than the Windows variants, calling it a 'non-issue'. "They are making something of nothing," he said of Microsoft's claims.

Reassessing the 'Apple Tax'

Macs are often criticized for the high price of their hardware. This so-called Apple tax is the premium that Apple computers usually cost over comparably equipped PCs. But since the company dropped prices on its laptop line Monday, that difference is now smaller than ever. Of course, Mac enthusiasts might even say the Apple tax never existed, since no MacBook Pro competitor has the aluminum unibody construction or multi-touch track pad that the MacBook Pro does. In any case, I’ve been playing with the numbers, and I’ve noticed something interesting: When the newest 13-inch MacBook Pro is configured with similar...

PC-maker Dell's profits slump 63%

Dell has seen its latest quarterly profits decline by almost two-thirds as the worldwide recession continues to hit sales of computers. The world's second-largest maker of personal computers made a net profit of $290m (£182m) in the three months to 1 May, down 63% from $784m a year ago. Revenues at the firm fell 23% to $12.3bn. However the results were better than analysts had feared.
LAS VEGAS (AP) - Computer maker Dell Inc. (DELL) (DELL), trailing Hewlett-Packard Co. in worldwide sales, could have used a home run at the International Consumer Electronics Show. Instead, it came to Vegas with a model and a mirage. At a news conference Friday, Dell executives said the company would launch a luxury line of computers under the brand name Adamo. A model stood and removed a thin, black laptop from a bag and posed "Project Runway" style for a scrum of photographers. She did not turn on the computer, and Dell gave no details about what's under the hood....

Dell to employees: Help tighten the belt

Michael Dell spent the past 21 months cutting employees, slashing costs and reshaping Dell Inc. to make it more competitive in a changing personal-computer marketplace. Now, with a brutal economy forcing customers to cut back on technology spending, he's turning to his workers for more help. In a memo Monday, Dell asked employees throughout the company to consider taking off as many as five days without pay over the next three months. In addition, he said, the company would institute a hiring freeze, scale back some projects, offer voluntary severance packages and cut many of its contract workers.

Dell Plans to Sell Factories In Effort to Cut Costs

Excerpt - Dell Inc. is trying to sell its computer factories around the world, a move to sharply overhaul a production model that was long a hallmark of the PC giant's strategy but is no longer competitive. In recent months, according to people familiar with the matter, Dell has approached contract computer manufacturers with offers to sell the plants. One person briefed on the plan said he expects the company to sell most -- and possibly all -- of its factories "within the next 18 months." Other factories could close, this person said.
