The demonstration was one of dozens that took place in Israel and PA-controlled areas of Judea and Samaria. Ann Michelle Tesluk, a lesbian whose children attend a Catholic school, is demanding that the school, which is located in Peterborough, Ontario, remove a Catechism quote from a pamphlet because it refers to the homosexual inclination as "objectively disordered." See here. I wrote a series of posts after the Archdiocese of Boston announced a new policy which says that Catholic schools can partner with homosexual parents. I reminded His Eminence Sean Cardinal O'Malley that, in its Declaration on Christian Education (Gravissimum Educationis), No. 3, the Vatican II Fathers explained that parents "must be recognized as the primary and principal educators"...

In a quiet corner across the street from Zuccotti Park, a cluster of 25 solemn-faced protesters struggled one night to give Occupy Wall Street what critics have found to be most lacking. “We absolutely need demands,” said Shawn Redden, 35, an earnest history teacher in the group. “Like Frederick Douglass said, ‘Power concedes nothing without a demand.’ ” The influence and staying power of Occupy Wall Street are undeniable: similar movements have sprouted around the world, as the original group enters its fifth week in the financial district. Yet a frequent criticism of the protesters has been the absence of...

Here is a list of demands from the communists that are protesting in various cities throughout the United States as per their web site, Occupy Wall Street.org. These demands are so far out in left field and show such a lack of understanding of economics that I will restrain from any further commentary beyond this. Their demands center on the fact that they believe they are owed something rather than realizing that life rewards effort. Their demands are even more absurd when you consider that most of these people believe in Darwinism and his survival of the fittest theory. Therefore,...

The "Occupy Wall Street" protesters have listed 13 proposed demands from their website. Demand one: Restoration of the living wage. This demand can only be met by ending "Freetrade" by re-imposing trade tariffs on all imported goods entering the American market to level the playing field for domestic family farming and domestic manufacturing as most nations that are dumping cheap products onto the American market have radical wage and environmental regulation advantages. Another policy that must be instituted is raise the minimum wage to twenty dollars an hr.Demand two: Institute a universal single payer healthcare system. Demand three: Guaranteed...

National Tea Party leaders in California were thrilled about one by-product of the political bloodbath over raising the federal debt ceiling: The fight showed that after two years of rabble-rousing from outside the Capitol, the Tea Party has real power to shape the debate in Washington. Their challenge now that President Obama has signed the debt limit law: Can the Tea Party transform its government-shrinking mantra into long-term power, or will it be a one-hit wonder? They're not stopping to think about it. This month, Tea Partiers will storm town hall meetings of Republican and Democratic members of Congress and...

WASHINGTON — The Republican chairman and ranking Democrat on the House Homeland Security Committee said they want the head of the Transportation Security Administration to explain how racial profiling became a common practice among TSA screeners at Newark Liberty International Airport. Rep. Peter King (R-N.Y.) and Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-Miss) are both seeking answers from TSA Administrator John Pistole, after a federal report found several behavior detection officers, or BDOs, had singled out Mexican and Dominican passengers for special scrutiny, bag searches, questioning and document reviews in 2008 and 2009.

On Thursday night’s edition of The Ed Show on MSNBC, "Ed Schultz threw down a threat-down on hawkish, jingoistic country crooners like Toby Keith and Lee Greenwood ," wrote Adam Gold of Nashville Scene, "or as he called 'em, ‘fun-lovin', American rednecks in Nashville, Tennessee."Schultz "put the Music Row machine on notice — jestingly expressing his hankering to hear a patriotic anthem lauding President Obama and the Navy Seals for toe-tagging Osama bin Laden." Today on his show, Glenn Beck seemed particularly irked (and funny). One thing that was getting his dander up the most, was an article on Forbes.com entitled “Soros Warns U.S. Could Be On Verge Of Dictatorial Democracy, Slams Fox, Glenn Beck” and, most of all, its assertion that the host had been “falsely vilifying Soros publicly.” Beck was so angry that he demanded an apology from Forbes. Pretty interesting. What’s more interesting, is imagining whether or not this will be broached next Saturday at 11am during Forbes on Fox. First, Beck went after the author of the post, Robert Lenzner,...

I have one issue with this article besides the obvious one, of Muslims making demands on the school. I know that the school meant well but after almost 1400 years of jihad, and the bloody history between India and Islam, Muslims should of never been allowed in the school in the first place. They do not integrate, they look to takeover, with no concerns for the beliefs of anyone else. We should never forget this.

OBAMA: Since today happens to be tax day (laughter) I should just point out that one-third of the Recovery Act went to tax cuts, tax cuts that strengthened the cornerstone of the American dream. Tens of thousands of immigrant rights advocates are expected to march through Washington, D.C., on Sunday in support of immigration reform. Organizers say people have traveled from around the country for the march, which is sponsored by dozens of community, labor and faith groups. Activists have been frustrated that they've had to wait for reform, despite President Obama's assurances that he remains committed to changing immigration laws. They hope Sunday's march will re-energize the legislative effort. The event starts with an interfaith service and rally on the National Mall. Speakers include Los Angeles Cardinal Roger Mahoney and NAACP president Ben...

Reader Stephen T. worries: "I have a bad feeling that failure of healthcare will impel Democrats to unite on amnesty in order to hand Obama *some* victory to redeem his loser administration... Do you foresee any of this happening? The short answer is "No...Graham was essentially saying "If you guys use reconciliation to pass health care, even I won't be your cabana boy, and that's saying something." As for the bigger point that the failure of health care would impel Democrats to seek a win on immigration, I find it hard to imagine. Look at what Rep. Jason Altmire told...

Sunday tens of thousands of Americans who supported Barack Obama's presidential campaign in 2008 will gather on the Mall to protest the president's lack of action on a cause to which he had committed himself throughout the campaign: immigration reform. As a candidate, Obama spoke eloquently of the need to bring the estimated 11 million immigrants here without documentation "out of the shadows." But reforming our ridiculous immigration laws so that the millions of immigrants here illegally could have a path to legalization was deferred, like so many administration commitments, until health-care reform was enacted. So immigrants and Latinos held...

WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama urged Congress Wednesday to vote "up or down" on sweeping health care legislation in the next few weeks, endorsing a plan that denies Senate Republicans the right to kill the bill by stalling with a filibuster. Moreover, the insurance companies aren't starting over," Obama said, rejecting Republican calls to begin anew on an effort to remake the health care system. The president made his appeal as Democratic leaders in Congress surveyed their rank and file for the votes needed to pass legislation by majority vote...

Sotomayor herself was called a racist by Rush Limbaugh and then Newt Gingrich, who later withdrew his statement. NationalJournal.com's...

WASHINGTON, April 23, 2009 – With U.S. military members serving in more than 120 countries throughout the world as well as meeting requirements for troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, ground forces are stretched thin, senior military officials told Congress here yesterday. Immigrant rights activists join protests nationwide By SOPHIA TAREEN, Associated Press Writer 19 minutes ago CHICAGO — Thousands of immigrants and activists gathered in cities across the country Thursday to demand comprehensive immigration reform, including citizenship opportunities for the estimated 12 million illegal immigrants in the U.S. Turnout has fallen sharply since the first nationwide rallies in 2006, when more than 1 million people — at least 400,000 in Chicago alone — clogged streets and brought traffic to a standstill. WASHINGTON - A classified Pentagon assessment concludes that long battlefield tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, along with persistent terrorist activity and other threats, have prevented the U.S. military from improving its ability to respond to any new crisis, The Associated Press has learned. Despite security gains in Iraq, there is still a "significant" risk that the strained U.S. military cannot quickly and fully respond to another outbreak elsewhere in the world, according to the report. Last year the Pentagon raised that threat risk from "moderate" to "significant." This year, the report will maintain that "significant" risk level — pointing to...

The Palestinians are ready to yield parts of the West Bank to Israel, if compensated with an equal amount of Israeli territory, the lead Palestinian negotiator said Wednesday, spelling out his positions in an interview with The Associated Press. Ahmed Qureia, a 71-year-old former prime minister, said saying the US-hosted Middle East conference in Annapolis, Maryland, tentatively set for November 26, is a "very, very, very important opportunity." If it fails, he said, Israelis and Palestinians will perhaps suffer more than in the blood-soaked years following the unsuccessful Camp David summit in 2000. Israelis and Palestinians are slowly rebuilding trust,...

UNITED NATIONS - The science is clear and the time short, but the political will is lacking to confront global warming, the U.N. secretary-general said Tuesday. Asked at a news conference about President Bush's planned separate meeting to discuss global-warming measures among a handful of countries later next week, the U.N. chief said Bush assured him it would be coordinated with the established U.N. process of negotiating climate treaty commitments among all nations. Special arrangements shall be instituted so that Muslim students can wash themselves on a moments notice if their "state of purification"...

GENEVA (Reuters) - United Nations chief Kofi Annan demanded on Tuesday that the world body's human rights watchdog, meeting in special session on Sudan's Darfur, send a clear message that the "nightmare" of violence there had to stop. The killings and other gross violations of human rights must end," Annan said in a statement to the Geneva-based Human Rights Council. The Council, launched last June in a plan to make the U.N. more effective, must decide on what kind of mission of inquiry to send to...

Where are secret jails, the EU demands By Alec Russell in Washington (Filed: 08/09/2006) European politicians yesterday called on Washington to reveal the sites of the CIA's secret prisons after President George W Bush's admission that terrorist prisoners had been held in clandestine foreign jails. As Mr Bush hit the road to sell Wednesday's revelation of the "black sites" to the American public as a victory for his anti-terrorist policies, European politicians stepped up the pressure for further details. "The location of these prison camps must be made public," said Wolfgang Kreissl-Dörfler, a member of the European Parliament's committee investigating...

On Wednesday December 14 an event occurred which does not leave much space for doubts that the “gas blackmail” exercised by Russia has got nothing to do with the gas itself. The “Gasprom” stand with regard to the price of gas had undergone a miraculous change. The price that the Russian monopolist is demanding for its product has gone up from $160 per 1000 cubic meters to $230. This means that a fair price is absolutely out of the question if to consider the Russian motivation in this matter. Simply because prices for such a commodity never undergo rapid changes,...
