Broncos cornerback Aqib Talib has been hospitalized after he was shot Saturday night, Rebecca Lopez of WFAA TV in Dallas reported Sunday. Lopez reported that Talib was one of three people shot after a fight in V Live, a Dallas night club, and that Talib is at Medical City Hospital. In 2011, Aqib Talib was indicted but later cleared on charges in Dallas County that he pistol-whipped and shot at his sisters boyfriend.

Shortly after Super Bowl 50 ended with a humiliating defeat for the heavily-favored Carolina Panthers, led by quarterback Cam Newton, Newton and Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning shook hands on the field and exchanged greetings and comments, with Manning (who has suffered his own humiliating losses in previous Super Bowls) offering encouragement, then each went his own way. Unfortunately for Newton, he later would have an infamous press conference in which he showed up wearing a "hoodie," mumbled some answers to questions, and then would walk out after three minutes, leaving the press astonished. Not surprisingly, the sports media jumped...

A national women's group is urging companies that sponsor Peyton Manning to cut ties with the Broncos quarterback. UltraViolet, a group made up of over 700,000 people, specifically called out Papa John's and Nationwide Insurance as two companies that should suspend ties with Manning immediately. The group would also like the NFL to investigate the 1996 incident at the University of Tennessee that took place between Manning and former Volunteers trainer Jamie Naughright.

The bulk of the quarterbacking will be done by Matt Barkley and Tim Tebow, who would seem to be fighting for a single roster spot as the Eagles' third QB. Anyone looking for a storybook ending to one of the most celebrated active NFL careers in the league had to think it was coming. Peyton Manning, buoyed by a dominant defense, had finally returned to the winner’s platform in a Super Bowl at 39 years of age, the oldest starting quarterback in all 50 Super Bowls. All that would be necessary would be two simple words: “I’m retiring.”Sorry, storybook fans. Manning couldn’t quite say it — not even after NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell all but announced it moments before Manning took the microphone on stage: It certainly sounds as...

OF COURSE 2015 was a miserable year; all years are miserable. It was a year of rampage killings and police brutality, of natural disasters and government corruption. There were ghastly terror attacks and devastating civil wars, floods of refugees and acts of unspeakable cruelty. Airliners were blown out of the sky. Priceless antiquities were destroyed. Politics seethed with incivility. This morning fake black guy Shaun King -- he's white but has been pretending to be black for nearly forty years -- decided to write about Peyton Manning mooning and teabagging a trainer twenty years ago. His motive to do so was, predictably, racist. He believed Cam Newton had been treated unfairly in the wake of the Super Bowl so he decided to take a page from the political handbook of PC bros everywhere and write an old story about Peyton Manning in an effort to try to turn it into a new story.

Denver Broncos star linebacker Von Miller was arrested Sunday at the Centennial Gun Club on a failure to appear warrant. Court records show Miller, 24, was arrested for not appearing at his court hearing on charges from last October when he was cited for careless driving, driving without a license and no proof of insurance. A uniform summons and complaint document says the offense happened on the 12000 block of Easter Ave in Foxfield, about four blocks from Miller's listed home address. The document does not elaborate on the nature of Miller's alleged careless driving. Court records show Miller was...

Why is Tim Tebow out in the cold? Why are general managers and coaches willing to roll the dice with a QB who has never played an NFL down or a struggling QB versus one who holds a winning record and notched a stylish, memorable playoff victory over the vaunted Pittsburgh defense?Part of Tebow’s fate falls to timing.   In past posts,  I’ve referenced economist Zvi Griliches iconic article “Hybrid Corn: An Exploration in the Economics of Technological Change”. He demonstrated the acreage planted with hybrid seed took over across states, slowly, at first few adopters, then gaining steam, and...

Hall of Fame quarterback John Elway endorsed Mitt Romney ahead of Wednesday's presidential debate in Colorado. Governor Romney is a proven leader with the experience and background to turn around our struggling economy, Elway said in a statement. In these tough economic times, we need a president who understands how to get America working again by standing on the side of taxpayers and small-business owners who do the real job creating. I am endorsing Governor Romney and Congressman Ryan for President and Vice President because I know having the courage to make decisions and tackle challenges is what leads...

President Obama said Thursday that the New York Jets quarterback situation would make him "pretty nervous" if he were a fan of the team. The Jets acquired Denver phenom Tim Tebow in the off-season, but are playing him as a backup to Mark Sanchez. "I've got to tell you, I don't like the idea of a quarterback controversy at the start of the season," Obama said on Columbus' 97.1 The Fan in a Thursday call-in appearance on The Common Man & The Torg's radio program. (Also on POLITICO: NY Jets brush off Obama critique) "If I was a Jets fan,...

Tom Brady got his actress girlfriend pregnant out of wedlock, then promptly dumped her for a new model girlfriend whom the New England Patriots quarterback married instead of the mother of his child. Ben Roethlisberger was accused of sexually assault by a 20-year-old college student who said the Pittsburgh Steelers QB followed her into the ladies room of a Georgia night club and had his way with her. That followed a previous accusation that Big Ben sexually assualted a 31-year-old casino host at a Lake Tahoe hotel. As reprehensible the behavior of both Brady and Roethlisberger, neither pro footballer...

As soon as word came through that Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos were ironing out a contract, the Tim Tebow questions began to fly. The likeliest of outcomes seemed to be a trade. But where? Everyone's first instinct was the Jacksonville Jaguars. That doesn't appear likely, as reports say that Jags management doesn't have any interest in Tebow. New England was mentioned as a possibility too because the guy who drafted him, Josh McDaniels, is now an offensive coordinator there and Bill Belichick loves going outside the box. Chances of that ever happening are slim, though. The Miami Dolphins...

The Peyton Manning sweepstakes came to an end Monday when the free agent quarterback informed the NFL teams pursuing him that he intended to sign with the Denver Broncos. The resolution of where Manning, one of the most high-profile free agents in pro football history, will play next immediately rippled through the ranks of NFL quarterbacks. The Broncos seem intent on trading quarterback Tim Tebow and speculation immediately focused on the Miami Dolphins and Jacksonville Jaguars. A trade to either team would send Tebow back to the state where he won a Heisman Trophy and two collegiate national championships at...
