"Car bomb explodes in Derry" IRISH TIMES REPORTERS SNIPPET: "A car bomb has exploded outside a police station in the North. The blast occurred at about 3.20am in a taxi which had been parked outside Strand Road police station in Derry. Damage was caused to the station and the perimeter wall but no one was injured in the incident. The explosion follows a telephone warning that a device had been planted in front of the station. The man, who appeared visibly distraught, set his arms and shoulders alight before onlookers managed to extinguish the flames. He was not seriously injured. HERSHEY — A wooden altar that graced the first Roman Catholic church in Derry Township has been discovered in the basement of a Hershey business. Hershey-area historian Millie Landis-Coyle has been on the trail of the altar, as well as other artifacts, from St. Lucy’s Chapel for several years.  Landis-Coyle, who is active in the Hershey-Derry Township Historical Society, has been researching the history of the township. Councillors to hear proposal for nuclear plant in Derry 20/04/2006 - 11:19:56 Councillors in Derry are due to hear proposals today for the construction of a nuclear power plant in the city. The plan is being put forward by businessman Robert Andrew, who says a 2,000-megawatt plant could generate the same amount of power as 300,000 wind farms. The Catholic Church in Derry is to bring a whole new meaning to the saying "Be seen and not heard" after it revealed new glass fronted confessional boxes could replace the traditional booths under strict new guidelines aimed at dealing with the issue of child sex abuse.
