We went to see the SD Auto Show and the Chrysler and GM displays were the worst attended and lacked a certain show feel.
On the other hand..I was real happy with the Ford display and we were impressed by the crowds. I bought some more Ford stock as a result.
I assume the Obama as President would visit all domestic displays, but as CEO he would be obliged to “work” the show at GM and Chrysler. There is a real conflict there..no joke.

I think they are learning that Americans are no longer passive.

I don't think the next major attack will be on a plane. It will be someplace crowded like an airport or mall but not a plane.

Y’know, for some reason, when I read the phrase “a Toledo man,” a name like “Mansor Mohammad Asad” isn’t the first one that comes to mind.

Remember the Twilight Zone episode called the “Ear Weif” or something like that (just going from memory here). Anyway a man thinks he’s going crazy and has tremendous head aches and what-not. Its discovered that the man has an ear weif, a little worm that enters the ear, burrows through the brain and comes out the other ear. Well, the weif eventually falls out the other ear and the man thinks he’s just lived through hell but now is onto a full recovery... not quite. For it is later discovered that the weif was female and females always lays their eggs in the center of the brain, the man’s face turns affright. Islam is the weif.

I want someone to ask those questions.

We all do. Going on air shortly after such an event to assure Americans doesn't mean one is making too much of an event, or showing fear. It's the proper thing to do, and well handled would also allow sending a message to AQ that we're not going to tolerate further attempts.

But this was mis-handled by the administration from the get-go. And that further compounds the absurdity of public trials, closing of Gitmo for Thompson, IL, the idea of returning of Yemen detainees to Yemen, not knowing this scumbag had a US Visa, [Insert further objections here].

What is needed is a collective will to fight this war (called so very reluctantly I suspect by the president) with whatever it takes. But that collective will will never materialize unless we have confidence in the Commander in Chief. And at this point, one even wonders whether the will is there (in the president's psyche) to assume the role.

My rhetorical question about DC dodging a bullet may have been an extreme scenario. Regardless, considering the confusion, the blame game, the system worked, no the system worked after, nothing from Obama for 3 days after learning he was not told until hours later and many other things gave the impression that no one was minding the store.

That impression leads to justified speculation.

The reports coming out of Hawaii were that he was monitoring the situation.

The visual images were of a man playing golf, eating sno-cones, leaving the movie theater, and rushing home because a ambulance had been called for a kid’s boo-boo which required no medical attention.

Obama says he did not want to give the wrong impression to our adversaries. He was sending a message that this was not a big deal.

I have looked for the quote, but I seem to recall Obama had a snide remark about Bush’s “Go shopping” quote. It was a sentiment I agreed with. Do not show fear. Bush had the balls to say it.

I understand why Bush stayed in the air most of that day. I do not understand why it took obama 3 days to issue a statement.

I want someone to ask those questions.
