  • ‘Die Hard’ Isn’t Your Typical Christmas Movie, But It’s The Best

McClane just arrived from New York to spend Christmas with his estranged wife Holly (Bonnie Bedelia) in Los Angeles. As he waits for her office Christmas party to break up, terrorists take over the building. The late Alan Rickman is superb as the terrorist leader Hans Gruber. Billed as 40 Stories Of Sheer Adventure, the film does not disappoint. There’s plenty of action, along with humor and warm, fuzzy moments too.

The slow, painful demise of Sears continues. The struggling retailer, which also owns equally troubled Kmart, reported a loss of $471 million in the first quarter, worse than a year ago. Sales fell more than 8%. Sears (SHLD) also announced that it may sell three of its iconic brands -- Kenmore, Craftsman and DieHard. The company said it is looking at strategic alternatives for its Home Services installation and repair businesses as well. These three brands -- dubbed KCD by the company -- are still well-known and popular. In a pre-recorded call for analysts and investors, CFO Rob Schriesheim said...
  • 'A Good Day to Die Hard' review: Yippee-ki-whatever (1/2 star)

Well before John McClane (Bruce Willis) calls his CIA operative son Jack (Jai Courtney) "007 of Plainfield, New Jersey," "A Good Day to Die Hard" already feels more like a Bond movie ("Die-monds Are Forever"?) than what it is, "Die Hard 5." Or is it "Terminator" or "Taken" or ...? Following the example set by the moronic "Live Free or Die Hard"--which only got worse by casting Justin Long as the personification of a yippy dog--"A Good Day to Die Hard" now depicts formerly relatable cop McClane as an indestructible force. He survives the unsurvivable and smells trouble before there's...

Bruce Willis says he's against new gun control laws that could infringe on Second Amendment rights. The "Die Hard" star also dismisses any link between Hollywood shootouts and real-life gun violence. "I think that you can't start to pick apart anything out of the Bill of Rights without thinking that it's all going to become undone," Willis told The Associated Press in a recent interview while promoting his latest film, "A Good Day To Die Hard." ''If you take one out or change one law, then why wouldn't they take all your rights away from you?"

CHICAGO, April 15 (UPI) -- Sears Roebuck and Co. filed a lawsuit in Chicago against the makers of a "sexual enhancement spray" for using its Diehard trademark. The U.S. District Court lawsuit, which Sears filed along with subsidiary KCD, accuses Rockhard Laboratories LLC of trademark infringement and deceptive trade practices, the Chicago Sun-Times reported Friday. KCD is the owner of the Diehard brand, which includes car batteries, auto parks, hats and boots sold at Sears. The suit states Rockhard Laboratories has been using the brand name "Die Hard" for a "numbing agent for male genitalia" since 2010.

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) – John McClane's string of bad luck may not yet be over. "Hitman" screenwriter Skip Woods is in negotiations with 20th Century Fox to take a crack at a new "Die Hard" script. The New York cop known for consistently being in the wrong place at the right time has already survived four run-ins with terrorists, traitors and psychotic loose cannons of one stripe or another. In his last outing, "Live Free or Die Hard," written by Mark Bomback and directed by Len Wiseman in 2007, McClane battled Web terrorists to $378 million in worldwide grosses...

WASHINGTON (AFP) – This week may see the biggest presidential inauguration in US history, but conservative uber-pundit Bill Kristol has vowed to leave Washington until the Obama mania subsides. For his part, right-of-center radio talkshow host Rush Limbaugh declares he will be "the last man standing," and will never give in to fervour surrounding new president Barack Obama. While much of the United States is all aflutter about the inauguration of a Democrat, some conservatives -- embittered by losing the White House for the first time in eight years -- say they will sit out the inauguration festivities. "I disagree...

John McCain considered changing last name in 2000 July 11, 2008 in Election 2008 ARLINGTON, VA - At a press conference today, presidential hopeful Senator John McCain (R-AZ) admitted that he considered changing his last name to ”McClane” during his 2000 election campaign. The considered change was motivated by a popular fictional character by the name of John McClane, played by the actor Bruce Willis, who saved the day against terrorists in the successful “Die Hard” movie series. Senator McCain stated, “Well, I knew John McClane invoked some great images from American theatrical history and thought it might benefit me...

LOS ANGELES - A federal judge sentenced Hollywood director John McTiernan to four months in prison Monday after refusing to allow him to withdraw his guilty plea to charges of lying to the FBI about his association with disgraced private eye Anthony Pellicano. Judge Dale S. Fischer gave the director of such films as "Die Hard" and "The Thomas Crown Affair" until Jan. 15 to turn himself in to authorities. McTiernan's attorney said he would appeal. McTiernan was also ordered to pay a $100,000 fine. When he entered his plea last year, McTiernan said he lied when he told an...

The same man who despises Capitolism and America sure doesn’t mind making a profit off the American people by distorting the truth about our great Healthcare system and glorifying Fidel Castro’s horrific model for Hillary Clinton’s system of Socialized Healthcare. Ask any Cuban who has recently left the island (because they can’t talk freely about this inside of Cuba) about their health care system and they will tell you that it is often a challenge just to get aspirin and they often have to get it on the black market. The run-down, dilapidated and unsanitary conditions in the facilities that...

SPOILERS ******************************************** . . . . . The latest Die Hard movie is a bit of energetic nonsense that's fun to watch and as substantial as a sand castle. Bruce Willis does his John McClean again ... surviving over two hours of gunshots, broken bones, and high-speed impacts, any one of which would kill a real person. We've seen it before. The plot -- what there is of it -- involves what hackers call a "fire sale" -- a cyber attack upon the country so complete and devastating that it would throw us back into the 17th century; i.e. 'everything...

You gotta love Bruce Willis. He is an awesome actor, and has a good head on his shoulders. Unlike the majority in hollywood: BRUCE WILLIS is fed up with listening to outspoken actors - and believes their opinion shouldn't mean "jack s**t" to the general public. The Die Hard star understands some of his colleagues want to do good for various causes, but wishes others would keep their thoughts to themselves. He says, "I don't think my opinion means jack s**t, because I'm an actor. "Why do actors think their opinions mean more because you act? You just caught...

CBS) LOS ANGELES Movie director John McTiernan Monday became the 14th person charged in the case involving Hollywood sleuth-to-the-stars Anthony Pellicano. McTiernan, who has directed such films as "Die Hard", "The Thomas Crown Affair" and "The Hunt for Red October," is charged in a criminal information with one count of lying to FBI investigators when he denied knowing about Pellicano's alleged wiretapping. Prosecutors allege McTiernan hired Pellicano to wiretap producer Charles Roven. A federal criminal information is different from an indictment in that it is filed by prosecutors, and not a grand jury. It is frequently filed when the defendant...

He hates government, loves cops, but he's no Republican... NEW YORK -- Bruce Willis is supposed to be giving a press conference on behalf of his new movie this morning. And yes, he does have a lot to say about the upcoming 16 Blocks, in which he plays a corrupt, burned-out cop who's given the opportunity to redeem himself. But a Willis press conference -- his preferred way of communicating with a media he often dislikes -- also tends to be a performance. And it's entertainment quotient rises when it becomes a series of rants. So he's in prime form...

Perhaps it's his age or maybe it was the two-and-a-half feet of snow that blanketed Manhattan the night before, but Willis pretty much defined the term "loose cannon" when appearing before the press to discuss his movie "16 Blocks" a few weeks ago. Warner Bros. had to be a tad disheartened that he didn't spend much time talking about his fine performance in Richard Donner's new thriller. Instead, Willis had a ball discussing a number of other topics, such as politics. Willis has identified himself as a Republican in the past, and before a journalist could even ask for his...

The new Die Hard film has needed some quick script changes due to the spooky similiarity between the movie plot and the events unfolding in New Orleans.'Die Hard 4', featuring Bruce Willis, was said to have featured a stunning action sequence on the Mississippi River. The scene ended with a freight train crashing through a bridge on to an oil tanker, causing a monster explosion which sends monster waves into New Orleans. An insider said: 'Everone cringed when they read that part of the script. It's a good script and no doubt the scene on the Mississippi would have been spectactular,...

PEST infects die-hard political losers Posted on Tue, Jan. 11, 2005 If you happen to be compiling a list of all the things that were wrong with the recent election, jot this one down. George Bush may be the first president whose re-election produced a bona fide mental affliction among members of the disappointed party. So many New Yorkers sought therapy after the grim reality of Nov. 2 settled in on them, that their attending shrinks were able to identify a new neurosis: Post Election Selection Trauma or PEST. A definitive list of symptoms has yet to be worked out,...
