This is the report that Pima County Sheriff Clarence Dupnik has been dreading since the tragic event on Saturday January 8. The sheriff has been editorializing and politicizing the event since he took the podium to report on the incident. His blaming of radio personalities and bloggers is a pre-emptive strike because Mr. Dupnik knows this tragedy lays at his feet and his office. Six people died on his watch and he could have prevented it. He needs to step up and start apologizing to the families of the victims instead of spinning this event to serve his own political...

Looks like The New Republic’s representative lackey has alot of explaining to do. My original e-mail is at the bottom. Enjoy! SFC McElroy, I’m not in the habit of answering these email’s. It would be far too many. I appreciate all the support from home and I can assure you that not a single word of this was true. We’ve been fighting this fight for quite some time. Numerous soldiers within my unit have served on several deployments and this is my third year as a First Sergeant in this unit. My soldiers conduct is consistently honorable. This soldier has...

The radiation emitted by mobile phones and other gadgets could be responsible for wiping out up to 70 percent of the United States bee population, according to some reports. Whilst the theory might seem far fetched scientists are blaming mobile phones as they attempt to solve the mystery of the disappearing bees. Apparently the radiation interferes with the bees navigation systems and prevents them from finding their way back to their hives. Last autumn bee keepers started reporting Colony Collapse Disorder on a large scale. Apparently the bees vanish from the hive and die, alone and away from home. Without...

CRAWFORD — When peace activist Cindy Sheehan returns here next month to protest the war in Iraq, she won’t be a guest. She’ll be one of Crawford’s newest residents. Sheehan’s peace group, Gold Star Families for Peace, said on its Web site Thursday that Sheehan had purchased five acres on State Highway 317, about a half-mile north of the sole traffic light here. County records indicate she is acquiring the property through a third party who himself recently purchased it. On her Web site, Sheehan says she’s already planning to mount next month’s war protest on the property, again timed...

President Bush was in no mood for diplomatic niceties at the G8 summit, judging by remarks made to Tony Blair as the leaders of the world's most powerful industrial democracies sat down to lunch today. Unaware that a microphone at the summit was switched on, Mr Bush, chomping a piece of bread, used the opportunity to suggest a way out of the latest criss in the Middle East. "See, the irony is what they really need to do is to get Syria to get Hezbollah to stop doing this s***," he said. Mr Bush also hinted that Condoleezza Rice, the...

Tuesday, June 26th, the Associated Press carried the story that a scientist in Canada had discovered that “having several older brothers increases the likelihood of a man being gay”. Hundreds of papers carried the story that unambiguously led the reader to believe that this was new evidence of a “biological basis for sexual orientation.” ....

*** Due to disappointing ticket sales, the country-pop trio is postponing as many as half the 42 dates announced for their coming "Accidents and Accusations" concert tour, which starts July 21. After playing 11 U.S. shows, the Chicks will for the moment steer clear of cities like St. Louis, Los Angeles and Jacksonville, Fla. *** It isn't clear that any one factor has caused the trio's recent problems, but there are plenty of candidates. The conventional wisdom has held that they were hurt by lead singer Natalie Maines's 2003 comments to a British audience that the band was "ashamed" that...

The Comptroller of the state of New York told a group of graduating seniors at Queens College last Thursday that Senator Chuck Schumer would “put a bullet between the president's eyes if he could get away with it." The Comptroller, Alan Hevesi, intended it as a compliment to Schumer who had just addressed the families and members of the graduating class and was listening to Hevesi....

The Dixie Chicks' Natalie Maines apologized for disrespecting President Bush during a London concert in 2003--but not now. "I don't feel that way anymore," Maines tells Time magazine. "I don't feel he is owed any respect whatsoever." As war in Iraq loomed, Maines had said: "Just so you know, we're ashamed that the President of the United States is from Texas." That led to death threats and a backlash from other country stars, including Toby Keith. It also stalled what until then had been the group's smashingly successful career. With their new album, "Taking the Long Way," hitting stores today,...

Da Vinci Code actor: Bible as much "fiction" as the movie. In a Wednesday Today session in Cannes, France with actors and producers of the Da Vinci Code movie, Matt Lauer asked about how, given how many want the movie to be clearly labeled "fiction," they would have "felt if there was a disclaimer at the beginning of the movie? Would it have been okay with you?" Actor Ian McKellen replied: "Well I've often thought that the, the Bible should have a disclaimer in the front saying, this is fiction. I mean walking on water? I mean it takes...

Jeers, hisses and laughter was not "Canned", and what must have been a real disappointment for Tom Hanks who always looks surprised because of his facelift. The movie "The DaVinci Code", which is based upon a fictional story about how Jesus and Mary Magdalene were married and had a child, takes two and a half hours to finish, but only thirty minutes to put a number of the audience to sleep, only to be awakened by laughter, where laughter is not appropriate or planned.According to reports some people walked out during the movie's closing minutes, and when the credits rolled there...

You'll hear a lot of mottos in the military. One key phrase is "hurry up and wait," which definitely applied to the friends and families of 29 Marines returning from Iraq Tuesday. They spent a couple extra hours waiting at Fort Snelling because one Marine had to spend a couple extra hours at a Los Angeles airport. "My surprise was when he told me he wasn't making the flight with the rest of his unit," says Terry Brown, mother of Staff Sergeant Dan Brown. Brown, who has now served two tours of duty in Iraq, couldn't get through LAX security....

In September of 1993 an ambitious young senator, fresh off his first reelection to that seat, took the Senate floor to discuss a contentious issue: immigration reform. With clarity and purpose the senator took a hard line on the issue. It appeared that no amount of political correctness or external political calculations could sway him. “In 1986, we granted amnesty--and I voted against that provision in law--we granted amnesty to 3.2 million illegal immigrants,” said the upstart. “After being in this country for 10 years, the average amnesty recipient had a sixth-grade education, earned less than $6 an hour, and...

WASHINGTON (March 23) — Vice President Dick Cheney may be a rock star only to his most ardent Republican supporters, but he has on-the-road demands just like the Rolling Stones. Still, Mr. Cheney appears easier to please than Mick Jagger or Keith Richards. At least that was the evidence from "Vice Presidential Downtime Requirements," the heading of a document posted Thursday on the Smoking Gun Web site and confirmed as authentic by Mr. Cheney's office. The document listed 13 requirements. Among them were these: All televisions sets in Mr. Cheney's hotel suite should be tuned to Fox News, all lights...

March 7, 2006 -- AIR America is close to losing its New York flagship station - knocking Al Franken and his liberal colleagues off the air on their second anniversary. The network has a two-year lease with WLIB (AM 1190) that is reportedly set to expire April 1 - and at least one reliable report says it is "extremely likely" the deal will not be renewed. Losing its New York outlet would be a serious blow to the fledgling liberal radio network. "Radio Equalizer" blogger Brian Maloney - who blew the whistle on questionable loans to the lefty network last...

Turkish blockbuster depicts US forces as ‘wolves’ By Benjamin Harvey, Istanbul IN the most expensive Turkish movie ever made, US soldiers in Iraq crash a wedding and pump a little boy full of lead in front of his mother. They kill dozens of innocents with machine gun fire, shoot the groom in the head, and drag those left alive to Abu Ghraib prison - where a Jewish doctor cuts out their organs, which he sells in New York, London and Tel Aviv. Valley of the Wolves Iraq - set to open in Turkey today - feeds off the increasingly negative...

OAK PARK HEIGHTS, Minn. (AP) - A convicted sex offender who tried to pass himself off as a teenage member of English nobility says he just wanted some respect. But his story came unraveled when some high school journalists uncovered his past. Joshua Adam Gardner, 22, visited Stillwater Area High School three times in December and January, posing as "Caspian James Crichton-Stuart IV, the Fifth Duke of Cleveland" and telling students he was 17 and was interested in attending the school. He also claimed to be 27th in line for the British throne. "Becoming 'Caspian,' I was given respect," Gardner...

The probe is the latest in a series of controversial investigations into leaks of classified information during the Bush administration, including the disclosure of a CIA agent's identity that has resulted in criminal charges against former vice presidential adviser I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby. The Justice Department has also opened a probe into whether classified information was illegally disclosed to The Washington Post, which reported on a network of secret CIA prisons in Eastern Europe and elsewhere.

1. Sen. Lincoln Chafee (R.I.) Once approached by Democratic Leader Harry Reid to switch parties, Chafee has long supported liberal policies. Also was the only Republican in Congress not to endorse the President’s reelection and one of three who tried to gut Bush’s tax cuts. 2. Sen. Olympia Snowe (Maine) A self-described “centrist,” Snowe scored a 100% pro-choice voting record as scored by NARAL and consistently votes with Democrats on social issues. 3. Sen. MSNBC's talk show host Chris Matthews is a man who obviously: (1) Believes he is the smartest man on television; (2) Enjoys bullying women such as Michelle Malkin; (3) Enjoys bullying senior citizens who may not be as quick with the mouth as he is; (4) Is irrelevent except for a few of his fellow moonbats who actually believe he's a mental giant; (5) Is of the opinion that he's really competition for Fox News Channel's lineup. During a speech he gave in Canada at the University of Toronto, Matthews did what most American liberals do when in a foreign...

MSU professors link hunting with sexual violenceBy Page W. H. Brousseau IV Three female Michigan State University professors studied the magazine "Traditional Bowhunter," and concluded that hunting is a form of sexual violence with animals substituted for women. They describe hunting as, "erotic heterosexual predation, sadomasochism, restraint for aggressive sexual energy, and allied with the abuse of women." I think I need to take up bowhunting. The article entitled, "Animals, Women and Weapons: Blurred Sexual Boundaries in the Discourse of Sport Hunting" was published by the Society & Animals Forum. The genesis of the article was the 2003 video "Hunting...

Prague, 6 October 2005 (RFE/RL) -- Known popularly as the “Spanish flu,” it killed more people, more quickly, than any other known epidemic in the history of mankind. In just one year, from 1918 to 1919, as many as 50 million people around the world succumbed to the flu pandemic. For decades, speculation abounded about what exactly caused the catastrophic outbreak. Now, scientists in the United States led by Dr. Jeffery Taubenberger, of the Armed Forces Institute in Washington, and Terrence Tumpey, of the Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta, say they have resolved one of the great medical mysteries...

October 5, 2005 -- THE producer at the center of last year's "Memogate" scandal at CBS News says she was derailed by a vast right-wing conspiracy. The producer, Mary Mapes, is one of four CBS staffers fired last January in the wake of the scandal. She is convinced she was the victim of a group of loosely associated Internet bloggers "with a harsh political bent" who pounced on CBS News minutes after the airing of the now-infamous Texas Air National Guard story on "60 Minutes 2" in September 2004... "Within a few minutes, I was online visiting Websites I had...

A driver for the Rev. Al Sharpton led Ellis County sheriff's deputies on a nine-mile chase at speeds up to 110 mph before state troopers stopped the car, authorities said. The driver was rushing Sharpton to the airport after his visit with anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan on Sunday at her camp outside President Bush's ranch in Crawford. The car carrying Sharpton and two other passengers was clocked doing 110 mph in a 65 mph zone on Interstate 35 in Ellis County in North Texas, said Lt. Danny Williams. The car ignored deputies' attempts to stop it and continued speeding and...

A leading Republican senator and prospective presidential candidate said Sunday that the war in Iraq has destabilized the Middle East and is looking more like the Vietnam conflict from a generation ago. Nebraska Sen. Chuck Hagel, who received two Purple Hearts and other military honors for his service in Vietnam, reiterated his position that the United States needs to develop a strategy to leave Iraq. Hagel scoffed at the idea that U.S. troops could be in Iraq four years from now at levels above 100,000, a contingency for which the Pentagon is preparing. "We should start figuring out how we...

'Oddball rodent' in Laos takes scientists by surprise By John Noble Wilford The New York Times THURSDAY, MAY 12, 2005 They live in the forests and limestone outcrops of Laos. With long whiskers, stubby legs and a long, furry tail, they are rodents but unlike any seen before by wildlife scientists. They are definitely not rats or squirrels, only vaguely like a guinea pig or a chinchilla. And they often show up in Laotian outdoor markets being sold for food. There, visiting scientists came upon the animals and determined that they represented a rare find: an entire new family of...
