I am not an expert on campaign strategy, but I know a losing game plan when I see one. The Republican Party’s strategy in a series of special House elections this year has been to tie Democratic candidates to Barack Obama and Nancy Pelosi. How’s that working? Three straight losses, all in congressional districts President Bush carried easily in 2004. Some strategy. John McCain may well win the presidential election, but at the congressional and grassroots level, I don’t think I’ve ever seen the GOP in a more severe state of disarray. The worst result yet has come from the...

The political “hot button” issues of guns and judges have become intertwined in this election year. The fate of both issues will be decided by the candidate we elect as president. Why? Because over a four-year term, that president will likely appoint at least two and possibly three justices to the United States Supreme Court. Simply stated, this year when we elect a president, we will also cast our ballot for the next Supreme Court. Everyone concerned about the Second Amendment and judicial accountability should heed John McCain’s speech to the NRA on May 16. The presumptive Republican nominee will...

According to the msnbc polls for the Florida debate, Ron Paul won the debate with 42% of the vote. Mitt Romney came in second with 40%. Huckabee had 8%, McCain had 6% and Rudy came in last with 4%. I find it interesting that the media brushes Ron Paul support off as a joke. And immediately go to the next highest polling candidate. Ron Paul supporters continue to vote for him, so ignoring him isn't working.

With Fred Thompson out of the presidential race, who's a self-respecting conservative to go for? Could it be, maybe, perhaps, a certain Republican-libertarian from Texas? That's one question perplexing California state Sen. Tom McClintock, possibly the second-most-famous California Republican currently in office after Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger. McClintock created a stir two months when he endorsed Thompson’s presidential candidacy. Having run for governor, lieutenant governor and state controller, McClintock has shown that while he has not won a statewide contest, he can win GOP primaries, which conservatives tend to dominate. So heading into the Feb. 5 primary, McClintock’s endorsement is seen...

Supporters of Republican presidential hopeful Ron Paul are helping to bankroll the re-count of votes in New Hampshire's Jan. 8 Republican presidential primary.

It shouldn't come as much of a surprise that campaign for Republican US Presidential candidate Ron Paul is questioning results of this week's Louisiana Caucus. After all, this is the state that failed miserably to protect its citizens from the wrath of Hurricane Katrina (both before and after), pays its law enforcement officers the absolute lowest salaries, and has issued "sealed" arrest warrants for a few dozen online gambling operators after presumably coming under pressure from local casinos. The later became the State's number one priority, it seemed, following Hurricane Katrina. Go figure! Now comes word that they have botched...

— Some quotes from Thursday's Republican presidential debate in Boca Raton, Fla. ___ MIKE HUCKABEE _ On the Iraq war and President Bush: "I supported the president when he led us into this, as did the Democrats, and I think we owe him not a lot of scorn. We owe him our thanks that he had the courage to recognize there was a potential of weapons of mass destruction and rather than wait until we had another attack, he went and made sure that it wasn't going to happen from Saddam Hussein. Now, everybody can look back and say, 'Oh,...

Republican presidential hopeful Ron Paul sounds radical when he advocates the elimination of the individual income tax, a return to a gold standard, the wholesale downsizing of the federal government, and the abolition of the Internal Revenue Service and the Federal Reserve. The media and the other presidential candidates treat him as a nut. Indeed, Paul often enough opens himself up to that treatment in the flamboyant way he expresses himself. Sometimes he even seems to relish his image as a gadfly on the political fringe. But it’s time to start taking the ten-term Texas congressman seriously. He came in...

WASHINGTON – He's known as "Dr. No" for all his votes against government spending, but Texas Rep. Ron Paul isn't saying no to spending in his district. Mr. Paul, a Republican presidential candidate and physician, has requested earmarks for about 50 items, largely for water projects, according to request letters released by his office. In written requests he submitted to the House Appropriations Committee, the Lake Jackson Republican asked for $8.6 million for the Army Corps of Engineers to maintain the Texas City Channel and $10 million for the Galveston Rail Causeway Bridge. He also asked for money for a...

About an hour ago Norma McCorvey, a.k.a "Jane Roe" from the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision, formally endorsed Ron Paul at the Phoenix Park hotel in Washington. Why didn't she endorse a frontrunner like Mike Huckabee? Thank the grassroots: She saw a newspaper ad in Nevada, bought by Paul supporters, using the analogy of the frog and the pot of boiling water to demonstrate what was happening to America. "It touched my heart." That was three weeks ago, and McCorvey keynoted a pro-life Paul rally in Nevada on January 12th, but the campaign made the official announcement today before Paul...

KENNER, La. — Ron Paul, a Republican presidential contender and Texas congressman, said Monday that the Federal Reserve is to blame for the country’s weakening economy. Paul highlighted his economic remedies — abolishing the federal income tax and returning to the gold standard, among them — on a three-city tour of Louisiana. The libertarian-minded Paul was the only candidate to visit Louisiana on the eve of the state’s Republican caucuses Tuesday. The caucuses are an intermediary step in picking a favorite candidate. A presidential primary will take place on Feb. 9 and a state convention will convene on Feb. 16....

I just received a strange polling call. Without any announcement of who or what prompted the call, a robopoll looking for my presidential preference asked me to select from the slate of Republican candidates. After answering the single question, it disconnected me. No demographic questions were asked, and no explanation of the poll's sponsor was given even at the end. I checked out my caller-ID, which gave the following phone number: 877-766-7285. That takes callers to the Ron Paul for President Campaign call center. I guess we know what Paul does with the donations he received. It's curious, though, that...

It has been over 6 years since the atrocities of September 11 were committed and there are still some very basic measures that need to be taken to bring the perpetrators to justice and make America safer. I have proposed legislation to help with these efforts and will continue to fight in Congress for the safety and security of the American people. My legislation entitled The Marque and Reprisal Act of 2007 (HR 3216) makes the surgical strike option available to the President in our mission to capture Bin Laden. Our military has been pursuing him without result for far...

A Jewish Defector Warns America Introductory Note: Benjamin H. Freedman was one of the most intriguing and amazing individuals of the 20th century. Born in 1890, he was a successful Jewish businessman of New York City at one time principal owner of the Woodbury Soap Company. He broke with organized Jewry after the Judeo-Communist victory of 1945, and spent the remainder of his life and the great preponderance of his considerable fortune, at least 2.5 million dollars, exposing the Jewish tyranny which has enveloped the United States. Mr. Freedman knew what he was talking about because he had been an...

So it looks like the the online Paultard-ary will be renewed for another two months. Ron Paul scored second place in Nevada, which will likely fuel another round of conspiracy theories, delusions, and accusations of media censorship. * Although Ron Paul managed to score second, it's the least impressive second place in the entire race, but in terms of raw percentage, and in terms of the difference between first and second place. Mitt Romney earned nearly four times as many votes as Ron Paul, so it's not as though Ron is nipping at his heels. * Turnout was low. Really...

With popularity comes notoriety. That’s the lesson Ron Paul is learning as the nation observes Martin Luther King Day and the GOP presidential contender bears the burden of disparaging comments, made in a newsletter bearing his name, about the slain civil rights leader and the national holiday that honors him.

Some highlights include him explaining why he has flip flopped on the border fence, Amber Alert is unconstitutional, the North American Union is real, it is not kidnapping to take a minor across state lines without the parents knowing, and tip toeing around the neo-Nazi money while denying giving part of Alex Jones' donation back. Run time is 10 minutes. Go to the link to listen.

Most of the other candidates are out of money. Soon it will be only Romney, McCain, and Paul. The time is coming for them to pick their VP picks. I am willing to bet the first might happen before Super Tuesday in an attempt to get a bump. The buzz I have heard is around the following potential picks Mark Sanford, Gary Johnson, Judge Andrew Napolitano, John Stossel Of them all, I think that Judge Napolitano would be the best pick, from a pure ticket perspective. I know his foreign policy isn't popular on FR and this post will likely...

Last night RP’s grandson (I didn’t catch his name) interviewed Jessie Benton, RP campaign spokesman, on RP Revolution radio. Jessie said that at the end of the 4th quarter RP had 8 million in the bank. The report has not been posted at www.fec.gov yet. RP’s grandson did refer to RP getting support from a billionaire, but that’s all that was said. If the rumors are correct, this billionaire is going to air 3 - 1 hour infomercial type ads. I think 1000 – 60 second ads would be much more effective, but they didn’t ask me. The link to...

Texas Congressman Ron Paul files for GOP presidential bid HOUSTON -- Ron Paul, the iconoclastic nine-term congressman from southeast Texas, took the first step Thursday toward launching a second presidential bid in 2008, this time as a Republican. Paul filed incorporation papers in Texas on Thursday to create a presidential exploratory committee that allows him and his supporters to collect money on behalf of his bid. This will be Paul's second try for the White House; he was the Libertarian nominee for president in 1988. Kent Snyder, the chairman of Paul's exploratory committee and a former staffer on Paul's Libertarian...

READ HILLARY'S LYING DECLARATION HERE. It is as if she barely knew Peter Paul, the man who spent almost $2 million on her campaign. He was the largest donor to a senate campaign in history. Hillary has put her own daughter in a position of having to commit perjury to protect her mom's political future. What a mom. WATCH THE VIDEO. Hillary is laughing and joking with him. He is talking about an incident at Dartmouth in 1967. Hillary says to him, "Don't tell everything." Sure, Hillary remembers nothing. Oh, she might have talked to him at one of...

At the home of Zev Braun, Peter Paul had some HOME VIDEO taken of his wife and himself with the lovely, gracious, and always honorable (I know, get the barf bag) Hillary Rodham Clinton. In the video, shot in 2000, Hillary remembers a Valentines Day in 1994 when Peter sent her some incredible Amazon roses. Peter had represented Fabio and had brought him to prominence in Hollywood. He was hoping Hillary would finally send him a photo she promised to send him from the meeting he arranged with Fabio. The roses were to encourage her to send them. The photo...

Self-proclaimed alternative energy proponent Sen. Ted Kennedy has strongly opposed an environmentally friendly "wind farm” off the coast of Massachusetts – and now it appears Kennedy will have his way. A proposal before Congress would limit the construction of wind turbines and most likely doom plans for the Cape Wind Project, the nation’s first offshore wind farm. [Editor’s Note: Read the book that first exposed Sen. Kennedy’s hypocrisy -- Go Here Now.] "This is a dire moment for us,” declared Mark Rodgers, a Cape Wind Associates spokesman, who said the proposal "would be totally fatal” for the project. The Cape...

Don Quixote gets the Spanglish treatment Fri Dec 30, 1:22 PM ET MADRID (AFP) - With Spain having spent 2005 celebrating four centuries since its most celebrated author Cervantes wrote his emblematic work Don Quixote, it was only a matter of time before linguistic trends caught up with the work. So popular that it has already been translated into Esperanto, Braille and Gaelic, as well as three dozen other languages, a version in Spanglish is now to hit the bookshelves. Mexican author Ilan Stavans is behind the work in a mixture of Spanish and English which would frighten linguistic traditionalists...

As you may already know, I have announced my candidacy for the presidency of the United States of America for 2008. The American Justice Party is not yet officially registered, which I expect to achieve shortly. I have never been a candidate for any elected office. And I have no professional political experience. Why would a person of this type dare to run for the presidency, having what reasonably might be called a snowball's chance in hell of winning? I simply wish to promote a series of principles and reforms that I am sure need to be promoted, that should...

Presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich is in Madison on Monday. He spoke to an overflow crowd Monday morning in a state Capitol hearing room. The Ohio congressman got the loudest cheers for his statements opposing the war in Iraq. In his words, "It was wrong to go in, it was wrong to stay in." Kucinich also told the overflow crowd of about 150 people, including many college students, that as president he would offer free tuition at two-year and four-year public colleges. That proposal also was popular. Kucinich had words of advice for voters who like what he stands for but...

My career in television was brief -- the length of a single conference call -- but instructive. A few years back, producers of a show designed to introduce children to classic works of literature wanted some advice about Don Quixote. (Since I was then on my own quixotic quest for a doctorate in Spanish Renaissance history, they figured I had something to tell them. Being eager to supplement my graduate stipend, I let them think so.) In the draft adaptation that the producers sent me, there was one scene that I felt compelled to speak up about. Don Quixote, excited...

One day, this Iraq War will be thought of as the Intellectuals' War. That is, it was a war conceived of by people who possessed more books than common sense, let alone actual military experience. Disregarding prudence, precedent and honesty, they went off - or, more precisely, sent others off - tilting at windmills in Iraq, chasing after illusions of Saddam Hussein's weapons of mass destruction and false hope about Iraqi enthusiasm for Americanism, and hoping that reality would somehow catch up with their theory. The problem, of course, is that wars are more about bloodletting than book-learning. Tilting at...

January 4, 2003 By Monte Morin, L.A. Times Staff Writer Cruising Pacific Coast Highway in a Corvette convertible, wearing high heels, metallic eye shadow and leather pants, Lynne Meredith doesn't look much like a threat to the federal tax system. But that's how IRS officials describe her, and once she starts talking, it's easy to understand their concern. Meredith has made millions marketing the gospel of tax avoidance, the IRS says. Her message: You don't have to pay federal income taxes, ever. She preaches not to anti-government extremists but to suburbanites struggling to balance their household budgets. ....READ FULL ARTICLE...
