CNN has issued an apology for playing a song titled “Stupid Girls” before a segment about Sarah Palin. “The music selection was a poor choice and was not intended to be linked to any news story. We regret any perception that they were planned together,” a CNN spokesperson told the blog site Mediate. The song by Pink was the lead-in to a story about the former Alaska governor and 2008 GOP vice presidential candidate supporting Chick-fil-A President Dan Cathy, who is facing public backlash for opposing same-sex marriage.
  • If a Republican said this, the media would rightfully brand it anti-Semitism

If a Republican accused Jews of voting for a Democrat because they're rich people and want a tax cut, what do you think the reaction would be? I think that Republican would rightfully be branded an anti-Semite. But when a Democrat makes a comment like that, it slips right under the media's radar range. Especially when the Democrat is none other than Queen Nancy Pelosi. Let's go to the videotape. The part I want you to see is between 6:00 and 7:50. More below the fold.

The Muppets are ending their relationship with fast food restaurant chain Chick-Fil-A in a show of support for gay marriage, the creators of the puppet troupe said on Monday. "The Jim Henson Company has celebrated and embraced diversity and inclusiveness for over fifty years and we have notified Chick-Fil-A that we do not wish to partner with them on any future endeavors," the company said in a statement posted on their official Facebook page. The Henson company, named after the creator of lovable characters like Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy, supplied their Creature Shop Muppet toys to Chick-Fil-A for...

An Arapahoe County Court judge has granted a request to seal the case against James Holmes, the 24-year-old shooter who killed 12 and wounded 50 during a screening last night of "The Dark Knight Rises." The motion, filed in Arapahoe County court, asks for the records in the case to be sealed, including search warrants, affidavits, orders and the "case file." ... disclosure of the court records would be "contrary to public interest" and "could jeopardize the ongoing investigation."

(CBS News) With pressure building on Mitt Romney to release more of his past tax returns, Ron Paul on Tuesday added his voice to the chorus of people - including some Republicans - who say Romney should just bite the bullet and release the returns, according to Politico. "Politically, I think that would help him," said Paul, Romney's former Republican presidential rival, in an interview with Politico. "In the scheme of things politically, you know, it looks like releasing tax returns is what the people want." Democrats and the Obama campaign have relentlessly hammered Romney in recent days for his...

Tultitlan, Mexico (CNN) -- Neighbors on this tiny, sun-soaked street know each other's names. They pray together at a church with stained-glass windows that they can see from their front steps. But for years, they say, immigrants have been pushing their community apart. Residents here say they stopped feeling safe when strangers started lingering on street corners and leering at locals. They created neighborhood watch patrols to keep crime in check. "It's not that we're against immigrants," Osvaldo Espinosa says. "We just want them to get rid of that house." 'Train of death' drives migrant American dreamers It's the kind...

Lawyers for several groups which are opposing the state's voter i.d bill have raised their estimate of how many otherwise eligible Texas voters would not be able to cast ballots if the law were implemented, 1200 WOAI news reports.   Assistant U.S. Attorney Elizabeth Westfall, representing the Justice Department, told a federal appeals court panel in Washington that 'as many as 1.4 million people' lack the appropriate government issued i.d. needed to vote under the Texas law.   That is up from the 600,000 people that Attorney General Eric Holder said would be 'disenfranchised' if the law is implemented.   Westfall gave...

The U.S. Air Force is considering whether to revamp basic training for recruits, including separate training for women and men, following the worst U.S. military sex scandal in 16 years involving a dozen male drill sergeants accused of abusing women. Twelve male military training instructors at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, the home of all Air Force basic training, are under investigation for seeking sexual favors from female Air Force trainees. Six instructors have been referred to court martial on charges ranging from attempting to have a sexual relationship with a recruit to adultery and aggravated sexual...

Mitt Romney has so far released only one year of tax returns (2010), plus an estimate for 2011. This stands in stark contrast to his father, Michigan Governor George Romney, who released 12 years of tax returns when he began running for President in 1967. As his father said at the time, "One year could be a fluke." So the questions remain about what is in Romney's older returns. Two stories this week and last have ratcheted up the pressure. One is a recent web exclusive for "The Last Word with Laurence O'Donnell" where David Cay Johnston has five...

SACRAMENTO (Reuters) - The California Senate on Thursday passed a bill supporters dub the "anti-Arizona" law, which seeks to shield illegal immigrants from status checks by local police and challenges Republican-backed immigration crackdowns in other U.S. states. The Democrat-led state Senate voted 21 to 13 for the California Trust Act, which blocks local police from referring a detainee to immigration officials for deportation unless that person has been convicted of a violent or serious felony. The bill has the backing of about 100 immigrant rights groups, police chiefs and mayors. It has already passed the state Assembly in a 47-26...

David Corn has a report out this morning that pushes the continuing attacks on Mitt Romney's tenure at Bain Capital forward not just because of the business it involves — disposing of aborted fetuses — but because it extends the length of time he worked at Bain. According to Securities and Exchange Commission documents, Romney was involved in Bain's investment in a company called Stericycle in late 1999. What did Stericycle do? Well, it was a fast-growing, profitable medical waste company. But it also had some problems, such as getting fined for keeping body parts and dead animals in unmarked...

Natasha Smith planned to be in Cairo today to see Mohammed Morsi take his oath as Egypt’s first Islamist president. But the British journalist was forced to leave the capital city prematurely, she reported, “following a horrific sexual and physical attack in Tahrir Square.” It is just the latest, sickening evidence that Islam is not the “religion of peace” its adherents claim. Smith’s attack occurred earlier this week as she was making her way to Tahir Square, where a throng had gathered to celebrate Morsi’s historic election. Though Smith was “accompanied by two male companions for safety,” they could not...

ROCKFORD, ILLINOIS, June 18, 2012, (LifeSiteNews.com)—A school bus covered in pro-life images that used to drive children to a local abortion clinic to pray was firebombed Friday night, report local advocates, who say the media have been negligent in covering the incident. The bus, owned by Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Academy, suffered extensive damage after vandals threw more than one device through the vehicle’s windows. Photos show some of the seats reduced to little more than metal frame and ash. The driver’s area was also bombed, and appears to be unusable. The bus is well known in the...

U2 guitarist may get a second chance at Malibu mansions Lobbyists who worked on the Edge's project are urging legislators to approve a measure that could clear the way for his development, which the Coastal Commission rejected. SACRAMENTO — The California Coastal Commission rejected a controversial proposal last year by U2 guitarist the Edge to build five mansions on a scenic bluff above Malibu, saying that it would scar a rugged ridgeline and harm sensitive habitat. Instead, they offer absurd explanations that, in my opinion, only prove what sniveling weasals (sic) they really are:
