Of all the campaign surrogates on the trail this cycle, Rick Santorum can legitimately claim the biggest. His most faithful supporters are the Duggars, the stars of the television reality show “19 Kids and Counting.” They include parents Jim Bob and Michelle and their 19 children, ranging in age from 24 to two. Members of the clan follow Santorum from stop-to-stop, collecting donations from supporters and talking up the former Pennsylvania senator’s values and policy stances. The Duggars themselves often serve as a second attraction to the candidate, signing family autographs with Bible verses. The Duggars are a longtime television...

An Open Letter to Rick Santorum: Dear Senator: As a strong, common-sense Conservative, I have a favor to ask of you. Could you please consider not answering, off the cuff, every question thrown at you? Would you please engage your brain before putting your mouth in gear? I’m beginning to see now, how, as an incumbent, you lost your Senate seat by 18 pecentage points to the brain-dead Bob Casey. Women vote Senator; and, they vote in large numbers. Now, please consider this common-sense observation from a Conservative male: Women have been in combat for years now. Women have used...

Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar of the hit TLC reality television series “19 Kids and Counting” told The Daily Caller why they are supporting former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum for president. “Most definitely Rick Santorum has a proven track record for family values and definitely for life,” Mrs. Duggar told TheDC at CPAC. “We feel like he has consistently stood for life.” “He authored the bill to ban partial birth abortion, whereas Romney in Massachusetts with Romneycare, there actually is allowable in the state — still today — $50 abortions for any pregnant woman and that was under the care...

“This year’s Presidential race outcome will set the course of America for the next several years!” said Michelle Duggar in a statement. “Santorum is a pro-life, Christian conservative with the family values and common sense business perspective that we need to get our nation back on track, to create jobs and to stand for what is right! Rick has a proven track record as a leader in the US Senate he fought to end partial birth abortion, he has stood for defining marriage as between a man and a woman.” Duggar said that the family also appreciated Santorum’s support for...

Opinion Print Article | Email Friend | Reprint Permissions Pro-lifers, the tide just turned by Jennifer Fulwiler Tue Dec 20, 2011 16:19 EST Comments (9) December 20, 2011 (NCRegister.com) - As you’ve probably heard by now, the Duggar family lost their precious daughter Jubilee Shalom on December 8th at 20 weeks gestation. They held a memorial service for her last Wednesday, which has generated even more discussion than the original announcement that they were expecting their 20th child. At the service, the Duggars chose to display some professional photographs of the baby’s hands and feet. Someone leaked the pictures to...

When the Duggar family announced last week that the baby Michelle was carrying had died in utero, it seemed the Internet couldn’t have any less sympathy toward the fertile-to-a-fault brood. Commenters right here on Salon called them “an obscenity” who are “unfairly crowding the planet with [their] disgusting obsession” and “selfish, polluting choices,” who were, in essence, “asking for it.” Then the Duggars really ticked people off. Making good on their promise to both name and hold a memorial for the baby, the Duggars had a service Wednesday for the child they named Jubilee Shalom Duggar. At it, they shared...

When I was researching the Duggars – wanting to make sure I wrote their personalities correctly, I read some of the junk out there. In the midst of all the bizarre misinformation on the Duggar family, I remember a few referencing the idea that these kids are missing out. That couldn't be further from the truth. My wife and I spent considerable time talking with the older Duggar kids. I'll never forget this moment: Sitting there talking to the three teenage girls in the house, Jill, Jessa and Jinger. And it hit me: These girls are experiencing freedom almost no...

The latest issue of People magazine features a cover story about the famously large Duggar Family along with a chilling question: “How Many Kids Are Too Many?” The moment I heard that Josie, the Duggars’ 19th child, was born prematurely, weighing only 1 lb. 6 oz., I knew the stars of the TLC reality series 19 Kids and Counting would face some harsh criticism for continuing to have children despite the risks. But really? This couple was facing some pretty tough criticism already. Every time the Duggars announce a new pregnancy or welcome a new baby, the comments sections...

Sometimes, 18 kids is simply not enough, so Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar of Tonitown, Ark., are expecting a new addition to their household this spring. That's right, at that point they will have five more children than Nadya "Octomom" Suleman and 11 more children than Jon and Kate Gosselin. Wow. "We are so thrilled," says Michelle, 42. "We just can't believe it is happening." You can't, Michelle? Not after the previous 18 times you were pregnant? Her husband, Jim Bob Duggar, 44, agrees: "I never gets old. We are so grateful for each child. We look forward to our...

You guessed it -- Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar were just thrilled to announce that they're expecting their 19th child. As usual, Viera just oohed and ahhed over the fantastic news, which comes only a few months after the eldest Duggar kid, Josh, announced that his new wife Anna is expecting their first child.

Santa Claus will be busy trying to supply presents for this family. An American woman has given birth to her eighteenth child - and her husband says the couple want still more children. The fact that they are only giving their children names beginning with the letter 'J' has not slowed them up one bit. Last night Michelle delivered the baby girl by Caesarean section at a hospital in Arkansas. The baby, named Jordyn-Grace Makiya Duggar, weighed 7 pounds, 3 ounces (3.26 kilograms) and was 20 inches (51 centimetres) long. "The ultimate Christmas gift from God," said Jim Bob Duggar,...

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — It's a happy Mother's Day for an Arkansas woman — she's pregnant with her 18th child. Michelle Duggar, 41, is due on New Year's Day, and the latest addition will join seven sisters and 10 brothers. There are two sets of twins. "We've had three in January, three in December. Those two months are a busy time for us," she said, laughing. The Duggars' oldest child, Josh, is 20, and the youngest, Jennifer, is nine months old.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - It's a girl — again — for the Duggars. Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar welcomed their 17th child, and seventh daughter, into the world Thursday. Jennifer Danielle was born at 10:01 a.m. at Saint Mary's Hospital in Rogers, Ark., the Duggars said in an interview. Jennifer weighed 8 pounds, 8 ounces and arrived five days after Michelle's due date. Less than 30 minutes after giving birth, the Duggars already were talking of having more.
