If a mother is six months pregnant, is her baby considered 6 months old?

I published a story earlier today, a sad situation where a young mother and her unborn son were both killed by a drunk driver on New Year's Day. As part of the story I decided to do things differently by posting the child's age as 6 months old because the mother was 6 months's pregnant. That is something I never see anyone else do in their articles or news stories. What do you think FReepers? Not only of the article, but of this concept?

Judge brushes off excuse, sends Galluccio to prison (Blamed Toothpaste for DUI)

Disgraced state Sen. Anthony D. Galluccio’s toothpaste defense went down the drain yesterday, brushed off by a skeptical judge who jailed him for a year for violating his probation after pleading guilty to a hit-and-run. Galluccio, 42, was led away in handcuffs after Judge Matthew J. Nestor refused to buy the Cambridge Democrat’s claim that the Breathalyzer installed in his home was set off by toothpaste containing alcohol. “I didn’t think the toothpaste defense was really going to fly,” said Timothy Cruz, the Plymouth district attorney who prosecuted Galluccio. Galluccio set off the Breathalyzer as soon as it was hooked...

Polk County Deputy Violated Policy in DUI Cases

DUI Charges Against 54 Dropped Prosecutors say a Polk County sheriff's deputy may have taken shortcuts in handling investigations. By Jason Geary THE LEDGER Prosecutors have abandoned charges against 54 people accused of driving under the influence, citing concerns about a deputy's shortcuts in writing reports and conducting blood alcohol tests. Deputy Tex Thomas has made about 124 arrests for DUI since he began working last year for the Polk County Sheriff's Office. In a deposition, Thomas spoke about preparing reports by cutting-and-pasting words from previous DUI reports as a "template" rather than starting with a blank page.
Police: Twitter used to avoid DUI checkpoints

FRESNO, Calif. -- In a ritual nearly as familiar as Santa Claus and crowded stores, police agencies have again stepped up enforcement of drunken-driving laws this holiday season. Studies have found sobriety checkpoints reduce alcohol-related crashes because they create awareness about the risk of arrest. But some public-safety officials say that message might be lost on the group most at risk - young drivers. Trying to elude arrest for drunken driving, young people use technology to keep each other informed about the location of sobriety checkpoints, said Sgt. Dave Gibeault, head of the Fresno Police Department's traffic unit.
