MILFORD — Police estimated 2,000 to 2,500 people, not including those in a motorcycle procession, paid tribute to Matthew Denice with a vigil at Draper Park last night. Last Saturday, the 23-year-old local man was killed in a horrific accident allegedly involving an illegal immigrant from Ecuador. Mr. Denice's brother, Michael, said the motorcycle rally en route to the vigil was coordinated by Matthew's friends and fellow bikers. Mr. Denice's death has renewed a debate over illegal immigrant deportation policies, but Michael Denice said the family wanted the night to be about honoring Matthew, with drunken driving and immigration to...

No, not that Obama, silly. Boston talkmeister Michael Graham points to the story of Onyango Obama, a 67-year-old illegal alien from Kenya, arrested Wednesday night in Framingham for drunk driving after he almost crashed into a police car. The original news story reports that he had been ordered deported but absconded, along with hundreds of thousands of others whom the immigration service has announced it will no longer look for. Presumably he was identified by a means other than Secure Communities, which has not been activated in that jurisdiction, because of the governor’s opposition. But even if Secure Communities were...

It’s going to take some politician’s kid getting killed by a drunken illegal alien before the hacks finally figure out that there’s a mighty big problem here. You know what happened in Milford on Saturday night. A totally smashed illegal from Ecuador is accused of running a stop sign and mowing down a 23-year-old American on a motorcycle, and then proceeding to drag him, screaming, under his truck for a quarter mile. When the illegal finally ran off the road, the American became disentangled. He was still alive. But then the illegal backed his truck back over him, according to...

A man charged with four counts of intoxication manslaughter is an illegal alien who only a few weeks ago was arrested on another alcohol-related charge, officials say. Roberto Castillo, 19, remained in the Washington County jail this morning under $2 million bond after authorities say he slammed into another vehicle at the intersection of Highway 36 South and FM 109 about 1:30 a.m. Sunday. Authorities said Castillo’s pickup truck struck a 1998 Mustang carrying four people, who all died from injuries they suffered in the crash. Their identities had not yet been released this morning. Authorities were carefully piecing together...

Flores was booked into the Vista jail on various charges, including felony hit-and-run, drunken driving, driving on a suspended license, resisting arrest and felony evading with injury, according to police. Huge increases in deportations of people after they were arrested for breaking traffic or immigration laws or driving drunk helped the Obama administration set a record last year for the number of criminal immigrants forced to leave the country, documents show. The U.S. deported nearly 393,000 people in the fiscal year that ended Sept. 30, half of whom were considered criminals. Of those, 27,635 had been arrested for drunken driving, more than double the 10,851 deported after drunken driving arrests in 2008, the last full year of the Bush administration, according to Immigration and Customs Enforcement data provided to The...

The outcome of the case and the videotaped beating by officers, sparked the L.A. Riots. Moreno Valley police stopped King on Frederick Street near the Moreno Valley town center. He was taken into custody at the Moreno Valley police station. He is being evaluated for possible intoxication, but has not been booked in Riverside County jail.

PROVIDENCE — House Republican Leader Robert Watson, the trenchant and bitingly acerbic leader of the tiny GOP bloc in the overwhelmingly Democratic House of Representatives in Rhode Island, is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and marijuana possession after a random stop by Connecticut police as he was driving his pickup truck through a checkpoint in East Haven, Conn., Friday night. A police report said his eyes were “extremely glassy and bloodshot,” his speech slurred, and he had difficulty performing a series of sobriety tests. After handcuffing Watson and placing him under arrest, the arresting police officer...

Ah, it's been too long since we've had some good ol'-fashioned Rick Sanchez-brand inanity. On a hunch -- do we know our man or what? -- we checked the revision history of the Wikipedia page for Sanchez, the former WSVN-turned-CNN anchor who is currently unemployed after calling Jon Stewart a "bigot" and implying that Jews control the media. So this past February 7, a Wikipedia user named Rsanchez1381 changed the description of Sanchez's 1990 DUI accident, in which he struck a pedestrian outside Joe Robbie Stadium. The victim was paralyzed and died five years later. Sanchez's BAC was .15, above...

I often see DUI cases or the like where the driver borrowed someone's car so they could drive despite the fact the have no license and/or are suspended. Why is it the owner of the car is never charged as an accessory to a crime? If the owner did not file a police report of their car being stolen and the driver has keys, the presumption of guilt and burden of proof should be on the owner of the car. (How else would another person be driving the car?)
