I thought he’d only been at it for two weeks but apparently it’s a longstanding thing. See, “D” stands for “Democrats” but it also stands for “drive,” and that’s what you want to be doing when you’re in a car. Whereas “R” stands for both “Republican” and “reverse,” and no one wants to be doing that. So there you go. You’re now set for the midterms. Remember: Crushing deficits and near-double-digit unemployment = drive. Wingnut = reverse. It has since become the Mr. Potato Head of campaign stump speech metaphors. The president keeps expanding on it. This week, as he...

This was posted at conservativecave and it needs to go viral. The youtube is 1:35 long and it shows Democrat County Supervisor Peggy West of Milwaukee talking about boycotting Arizona, she says she would have to look twice at this type of law if Arizona was like Texas and shared a border with Mexico. It's pointed out to her later in the video that Arizona does share a border with Mexico but we don't get to see her reaction http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WQp8M0bkarM

My son was on the phone for hours last week, negotiating, sometimes even arguing, with his friends. The prom was coming up and his gang was trying to figure out where to go post-party, whether they should rent a limo, or buy corsages for their girlfriends. (My son's girlfriend does not want a corsage: The pin will leave marks on her dress, she says. Good for her. Less money for me.) The whole thing has become ridiculously expensive; when my daughter graduated from high school four years ago, we went from store to store gown shopping and it was a...

After Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich had an embarrassing appearance on "The Daily Show," many had a good laugh. The Associated Press even reported on it: Blagojevich says he didn't realize "The Daily Show" was a comedy spoof of the news when he sat down for an interview that ended up poking fun at the sometimes-puzzled Democratic governor. CNN also picked up the wire story, but decided to change an interesting detail: Blagojevich says he didn't realize "The Daily Show" was a comedy spoof of the news when he sat down for an interview that ended up poking fun at the...

NEW YORK -- Vice President Dick Cheney's feud with Democratic Rep. Charles Rangel was perpetuated Wednesday when the 75-year-old congressman said Cheney "ought to be ashamed of himself" for a remark about his age. Months of verbal attacks from Rangel turned into a back and forth on Monday when the 64-year-old vice president said Rangel is "losing it," later adding that "Charlie is a lot older than I am, and it shows." After an appearance at City Hall on Wednesday, Rangel was asked when the dispute would die. "I think it ends when he apologizes for attacking me as a...

I once had a friend named Fred who did some professional wrestling for a brief time. It was an amazing experience to visit Fred’s apartment because it was always filled with incredibly UGLY women who were like Fred’s sex slaves. They catered to his every whim. On top of that they gave him money and whatever else he asked. Finally I asked Fred about this and he told me that he discovered that it was really easy to get really ugly women to do whatever he wanted. It was simple. Fred was actually a fairly good-looking guy so he...

Whoppers: In "The Aviator," Howard Hughes is depicted coming to Katharine Hepburn's rescue after she's ended their affair. Hughes learns that a sleazy Hollywood tabloid is about to publish incriminating photos of her with Spencer Tracy. Hepburn's new lover is married, and Hughes realizes that the publicity could ruin her career. There's a dramatic scene of Leonardo DiCaprio as Hughes negotiating for the negatives, which ultimately are handed over in return for stock in his airlines. The only problem is none of this happened. "The Aviator" -- a Golden Globe winner for best drama and a sure bet to score...

WASHINGTON -- Sen. Charles Schumer, fresh in a new leadership role among Democrats, found himself at odds with some of them Thursday, including Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, over a ceremonial counting of President Bush's re-election victory. Schumer, D-N.Y., was tapped late last year to head the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee and began the day touting the DSCC's lack of debt heading into the 2006 elections. The achievement was largely overshadowed by an objection to Ohio's electoral vote tallies by Rep. Stephanie Tubbs Jones, D-Ohio, joined by Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif. Some Democrats have complained that voting problems in Ohio, where...

RICHMOND - Fort Bend County Republicans censured precinct chairwoman Bev Carter and asked her to resign because of her criticisms of U.S. Majority Leader Tom DeLay and her endorsement of his Democratic opponent in her newspaper column. Carter, the founder and publisher of the weekly Fort Bend Star, said she will not quit the post she has held since 2002. "They can't make me resign. The only people who can make me resign are my voters in my precinct," Carter said Friday. Fort Bend County Republican Party Chairman Eric Thode said he thinks Carter, who regularly skewers the county's leaders...

DUmmie Demoralization is proceeding apace as you can see in this THREAD titled, “I'm Starting to Just Not Care Anymore - I'm Just All Cared Out.” This thread follows on the heels of DUmmie Doohickie giving up on his highly entertaining “I Believe” threads. The big difference between DUmmie Doohickie and the author of this thread, DUmmie MaryH, is that at least Doohickie left on a positive note while MaryH sounds completely demoralized. Also I think DUmmie MaryH is an AUTHENTIC DUmmie while I have my suspicions that Doohickie is really a Freeper Troll who took a bunch of...

In case you missed it, there was a great New York Times ARTICLE published today titled, “Myths Run Wild in Blog Tsunami Debate.” The article revealed how among the many other insane DUmmie theories, they also suggested that Bush was somehow responsible for causing the Indonesia earthquake and the following tsunami. The only real gripe I have with the author of this piece, John Schwartz, is that he did NOT mention the DUmmie FUnnies in his story. Instead he turned for a conservative comment about the DUmmies to an editor of http://www.wizbangblog.com/. Hopefully, if Mr. Schwartz writes more articles...

CHICAGO -- Another personal injury lawsuit was filed Monday against the Dave Matthews Band connected to an incident last summer where a tour bus believed to belong to the band dumped human waste onto a boat of architectural sightseers. The latest lawsuit was filed in Cook County Circuit Court by attorneys for Michael Scarpelli, Denise Scarpelli, Anthony Scarpelli, Lisa Panaro, and Larry Panaro, against the Dave Matthews Band and the alleged driver of the bus, Stefan A. Wohl. The suit claimed that at about 1 p.m. on Aug. 8, Wohl was driving a Dave Matthews Band bus to a hotel...

Recently found this encouraging note at DU:Open Letter to All Election Fraud Hunters: You are a small group with little coverage except negative. You are up against huge obstacles that are trying their best to thwart your work, and their methods are becoming more and more criminal with each day. You are fighting a group of people who think and act like organized crime: Perpetrate the massive crime, hide the evidence, and destroy those who persist in fighting--sometimes professionally and sometimes literally. You are fighting belligerent officials who have power and are abusing it, either by illegal actions or misuse...

Courtesy of Newsweek, mainstream media’s pet blogger Wonkette takes a cute little slap at the bloggers who broke the Dan Rather fraud story: Fast Chat: The Wonkette. What did you think of the bloggers’ role in the Dan Rather affair?I think they did a disservice to the debate because they made the debate about the documents and not about the president of the United States. There was another half to that story that had to do with verifiable events of what Bush may have been up to. While blogs like LGF were doing a “disservice to the debate” by exposing...

Paraphrasing from memory here so forgive me, please. Listening to Mark Belling here in Wisconsin. A woman wrote to him about her experience at Walmart on 27th & Layton. Her husband is in Kuwait and will be missing his second Christmas in a row. She took her FOUR kids to Walmart to see Santa. Her one daughter was asking her all week if Santa will see her daddy when he flies over Kuwait, and she told her to ask Santa when she him. Little girl sat on Santa's lap, asked if he was going to Kuwait and he tells here...

Former "This Week" host and National Public Radio veteran Cokie Roberts blamed conspiracy filmmaker Michael Moore on Sunday for causing Sen. John Kerry to lose the presidential election. "I think Michael Moore actually had a very major impact - a negative impact - on the Democratic Party," Roberts told NBC's "Chris Matthews Show." "I think he exemplified all of the things that people hate about Democrats. And the fact that he was - it was a hate-America-first campaign and that hurts the Democrats every time." Adding insult to injury, Roberts also contended that Moore's "physical appearance did not help."

HOLLYWOOD has-been Chevy Chase lashed out at President Bush at a liberal love-in Tuesday night, calling the commander-in-chief a "dumb f - - k." Chase was master of ceremonies at People for the American Way's Defender of Democracy awards gala at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. But the organization got more than it bargained for when Chase went off the rails in a potty-mouthed rant, the Washington Post reports. "This guy in office is an uneducated, real schmuck," Chase fumed, "and we still couldn't beat him with a bore like [John] Kerry." He then joked about Cabinet changes,...

He said Kerry "feel very comfortable" about his decision not to challenge the outcome in Ohio. "We know we are not going to overturn the election," McAuliffe said.
