A Florida woman is accused of suffocating her 4-year-old daughter and then tossing her body in a dumpster, police said. Tina Farrington, 31, was held without bond Monday at the Miami-Dade County jail on a first-degree murder charge, officials said. According to an arrest report, Farrington told police she was at her home on Halloween night with 4-year-old Tania Paige and another child when she became upset with the girl. Farrington lured Tania and her brother to a bedroom, according to police, and then used a pillow to suffocate her.

AUSTIN (KXAN) — A newborn girl was found in a dumpster in north Austin Wednesday morning and now police are trying to piece together what happened. In an afternoon press conference, Austin police said the child is in fair condition. The dumpster was located at the Mira Vista Apartment located at 9601 Middle Fiskville Rd., which is near Rundberg Lane. Austin police say they responded to a check welfare call around 6:55 a.m. after a passerby spotted the infant. A witness who saw the baby tells KXAN the girl still had her umbilical cord attached.

McCRACKEN Co, Ky - The teens who left their baby in this dumpster will serve one-year supervised probation. A judge sentenced 16-year-old Casside Cherry and 18-year-old Trevon Elmore on Thursday. The teens went to trial as adults, because they faced an attempted murder charge. The jury dropped that charge and found them guilty of only class d felonies, so the judge sentenced them as juveniles. That means he couldn't give them more than 90 days in jail. They already served that amount of time. Both sides debated over this for most of Thursday's hearing. Prosecutor Carrie Ovey-Wiggins pushed for 90...

PHILADELPHIA, The city of Philadelphia is cracking down on "Dumpster pools" after a pair of residents devised the idea as way to escape the summer heat. One Dumpster pool organizer told CBS Philadelphia that the adults-only block party was initially well received by the community. "It was lined with pool noodles and double tarped. It was a 21 and older thing, so we didn't have to worry about any kids wandering in," he said. "The public loves it. I've seen so much good feedback and support." The organizers successfully obtained a permit to acquire the Dumpster, but the Department of...

A West Philadelphia neighborhood has lost its block party privileges, and others around the city will have to find an alternate form of aquatic entertainment after the Philadelphia Department of Licenses & Inspections came down with a firm – if obvious – edict: Residents are not allowed to tap into fire hydrants to turn dumpsters into swimming pools. "We are not screwing around, Philly," the Department of Licenses & Inspections wrote, listing several reasons why "you shouldn’t swim in a receptacle most often used for waste." City officials said they were obliged to make that declaration after several residents in...

Trump is a guy a lot of people dislike.  How many times have I read comments on FR about Trump being "full of himself", "an ego maniac", a "blowhard bragger", and so forth. And yet his fans see the opposite.  They enjoy listened to Trump talk about his accomplishments and at the rallies they laugh with him about his braggadocious ways.  They enjoy seeing his handsome family, his opulent apartment, the Trump jet, the helicopter -- even the Darth Trump parody which makes fun of Trump's bragging style. So what's going on?  What do Trump's fans see that his...

An ongoing lawsuit has pried loose new records linked to a family of Sarasota Saudis who left home in a hurry just before 9/11. It was Halloween night, 2001. The horrors of 9/11 were still fresh on the the minds of Americans. At a time when everyone was on edge, the sight of a man disposing documents in a dumpster behind a Bradenton storage facility aroused suspicion. Summoned to the scene, Manatee County sheriff’s deputies confronted the man, who had a Tunisian passport. According to FBI records, authorities searched the dumpster and found “a self-printed manual on terrorism and Jihad,...

An angry mob was waiting outside of Ukraine's parliament today, and they were not playing games. When they spotted Economic Development Party member Vitaly Zhuravsky leaving the building, they grabbed him and threw his ass right into a dumpster. It's not clear exactly what Zhuravsky did to deserve getting himself thrown into a garbage receptacle, but as NBC News points out, it probably had something to do with the fact that he has a history of trying to pass bills that would crack down on anti-government protests. He's also the kind of dick who sues the press for saying mean...

Rather than using dumpsters as a home for gardens or pools, designer/builder/artist Gregory Kloehn has decided to repurpose one into... an actual home. HGTV profiled him for an episode of "You Live In What?", in which Kloehn show off his forest green and red micro (trash) dwelling, which took six months to kit out. It's got a toilet, stove, and sink, as well as a sloped roof that can be levered up to reveal windows and doubles as a deck for seating. There's also a grill that, when in use, protrudes off of the side of what is essentially a...

You never know what you'll find next to a Dumpster. That's where Chris Gulley of Rock Island spotted two authentic Cherner chairs, designed in 1958 by Norman Cherner and manufactured by the former Plycraft Inc. of Lawrence, Mass. Gulley didn't know that immediately, though, on that day about 11 years ago when he was driving down Harrison Street in Davenport. All he knew is that the two chairs he saw sitting next to a Dumpster in an alley were very unusual-looking and that he wanted them. "I knew instantly they were special, and I about killed us both turning the...
