In a day and age when elected officials in Washington, D.C., seem to be treating the American people more like turkeys than bosses, I offer this Thanksgiving Day cartoon as representative of how many Americans feel on this special day.

Radical left-wing cartoonist Ted Rall -- who reveled in dismissing American servicemen as "idiots" -- was recently laid off. Editor & Publisher reported the story in an April 22 article: NEW YORK Chalk up one more wildly talented cartoonist to be victimized by the economy. “I’ve been laid off,” reads the headline on the blog of cartoonist Ted Rall, president of the Association of American Editorial Cartoonists. Rall, an editorial cartoonist for Universal Press Syndicate, has served as editor of acquisitions and development at United Media for the past two years. “My job was finding new talent -- comic strip...

"He's superman at the moment - young, black, good-looking, progressive," says British cartoonist Andy Davey. So perhaps it's not surprising you have to look hard to find an unflattering cartoon of the new US president. With the end of his first 100 days in sight, the Political Cartoon Gallery in London is putting on an exhibition of original cartoons of Barack Obama. It charts his rise as an outside candidate for the Democratic Party nomination to his first few months in the White House. The founder of the gallery, Dr Tim Benson, says he's assembled more than 60 cartoons from...

The cultivated inside-the-Beltway paper suggests we ship all the Cubans back to Fidel. The Washington Post specializes in detecting racism that is undetectable even by the most vigilant Politically Correct Policeman -- then self-righteously denouncing its alleged perpetrator. Let a sports team owner defend his team's name (Redskins) and the Post pounces: "Redskins is not a term fashioned by American Indians." Let Bill Bennet, who has spent a lifetime idolizing Martin Luther King Jr., make an oblique reference to black crime rates and a Post editorial promptly brands him "the poster child for racism." A WaPo editorial even sniffed out:"Yellow-peril...

An exhibition of more than 200 cartoons about the Holocaust opened Monday as Iran's response to last year's Muslim outrage over a caricature of the Prophet Muhammad in a Danish newspaper. The display, showing 204 entries from Iran and abroad, was strongly influenced by the views of Iran's hard-line president, Mahoud Ahmadinejad, who drew widespread condemnation last year for calling the Holocaust a "myth" and saying Israel should be destroyed.

WE ARE ALL DANES NOW! Hindus consider it sacrilegious to eat meat from cows, so when a Danish supermarket ran a sale on beef and veal last fall, Hindus everywhere reacted with outrage. India recalled its ambassador to Copenhagen, and Danish flags were burned in Calcutta, Bombay, and Delhi. A Hindu mob in Sri Lanka severely beat two employees of a Danish-owned firm, and demonstrators in Nepal chanted: ''War on Denmark! Death to Denmark!"In many places, shops selling Dansk china or Lego toys were attacked by rioters, and two Danish embassies were firebombed. It didn't happen, of course. Hindus may...

UPDATED: The Cartoon War: A Collision of Values Filed under: General — site admin @ 8:19 am Nope, it’s not a “row.” It’s a war.At first take the name The Cartoon War may suggest something comic, exaggerated, or surreal. Those elements are in play– definitely in play. Cartoon and War are a collision, words that should not appear in the same serious sentence. They are a collision of values. But that’s the core of this, isn’t it? Likewise, the very real violence and anger add a heavy, instructive irony. The war between open and closed societies is not superficial,...

Go here http://villagevoice.com/news/0447,sutton,58615,9.html to see an utterly biased, disgusting characterization of those who are happy with President Bush's win as gap toothed, wife beating rednecks. I hesitate to post this in humor because it is NOT funny. Laura Ingraham is talking about this right now. I apologize if this has been posted. I did search but did not find it.

(CNSNews.com) - A nationally syndicated cartoonist, criticized for allegedly using racist themes to mock Secretary of State designate Condoleezza Rice, told CNSNews.com that his comparison of Rice to the black maid Prissy in the film "Gone With the Wind" had nothing to do with race but came about "because [Rice] lied about a war." "It's got nothing to do with the fact that she's black or anything else ... or even Republican," cartoonist Jeff Danziger told CNSNews.com. "She lied about ... or she was wrong and didn't know it, in which case she shouldn't be there." Danziger said the...

Nobody bites at auction for Doonesbury comic strips PORTLAND - Remember those Doonesbury comic strips that made fun of Portland's school funding problems? On Friday, supporters of Measure 26-48 were ready to auction off three more of Gary Trudeau's original strips. All the proceeds were meant to help out the Portland School District. There was only one problem - no one made a bid. However, that did not stop the measure's supporters from pushing their message about the upcoming election. "Anybody in Multnomah County can go and drop their ballot off. We need to have people do that. This...

LONDON - The Israeli Embassy in London has sent a strongly worded letter of protest to The Independent, following an editorial cartoon yesterday by Dave Brown, depicting Prime Minister Ariel Sharon biting the flesh of a Palestinian baby. In the cartoon, Sharon says: "What's wrong? Have you never seen a politician kissing a baby?" The background shows Apache attack helicopters sending missiles from the cockpit with the message "Vote Likud." In her letter, Shuli Davidovich, the embassy's press secretary, writes: "As Britain commemorates National Holocaust Day, I am shocked that The Independent has chosen to evoke an ancient Jewish stereotype...

'It is not the cartoon's skewed picture of the Middle East conflict that is at issue. It is the use of the classic "blood libel" of Jews murdering gentile children for their blood' I am not easily offended, much less shocked – at least not by media coverage of Israel and the Middle East. For though I have edited the oldest and most influential Jewish newspaper in the world for the past dozen years, for a dozen years before that I was a foreign correspondent, often a war correspondent – beginning in the late 1970s in the Middle East and...

On Sunday morning, as I listened to radio and TV news bulletins and leafed through the papers, one story stood out as a subject for the next day's cartoon: Ariel Sharon's attack on Gaza City. It was not the first time I had been prompted to criticise Sharon. But what stood out was the timing – the thought that the assault was not unconnected with the approaching Israeli election. The task was to create an image illustrating that, although the missiles had been targeted at Gaza, the message was aimed squarely at the Israeli electorate. My starting-point was the newsreel...
