We wrote here about left-wing radio host Ed Schultz, who denounced John McCain as "a warmonger" in the course of introducing Barack Obama at North Dakota's State Democratic Convention Friday evening. Now, CNN has compounded the offense by inviting Schultz on the air to explain why he thinks McCain is a "warmonger." The network gave Schultz more than four minutes on-air to amplify his smear, without inviting anyone from McCain's camp to participate or respond. Unbelievable. You can watch it here.

Ed Schultz is the Fargo-based left-wing radio talk show host who was at one time a Republican. He touts himself as providing straight talk from the heartland. Need more proof appeasement doesn't work? As Clear Channel's learning the hard way, placing low-rated Air America programming on several dozen AM stations nationwide, has failed to placate left-wing activists. They've long accused the company of being the "Wal-Mart" of radio, with a right-wing programming bent, to boot. Until the company removes conservative programming from KNEW-AM, the Bay Area's Youth Media Council says it won't ease up. According to indybay.org, FCC broadcast license challenges are being filed against all of their area stations, except KQKE-AM, the Air America outlet. Air America has since gone out of its way to put those unpleasant memories into the distant past. But they're not the only liberal talk radio game in town, with other syndication companies in the mix. The somewhat mysterious Democracy Radio has also been involved in this effort, with ownership of the Fargo, North Dakota-based Ed Schultz show, in partnership with Denver-based Jones Radio Networks.
