  • Ebola: Schultz Blames Profit Motive for Texas Hospital Shortcomings

Here in the Dallas-Fort Worth area where I live, the Ebola outbreak is very much a local issue. Playing tennis with some buddies this morning, I remarked during a break: "can you imagine what a disaster this Ebola thing must be for Texas Presbyterian? Who's going to want to go there? The whole hospital could go out of business!" Pretty obvious, no? It would be akin to the financial disaster that would ensue for a restaurant if someone who dined there died of food poisoning. Well, obvious to you and me, perhaps. But not to Ed Schultz. On his MSNBC...

With the Secret Service's multiple lapses of security in the headlines, attention has naturally turned to the issue of presidential safety. Into the gap stepped Ed Schultz this afternoon, always on the lookout for the chance to turn any issue into partisan political gain for Democrats. On his MSNBC show today, Schultz gave an emphatic "yes" in answer to this question from a viewer: "do you think the hateful rhetoric from Republicans puts President Obama and his family in danger?" What happened, Ed? Just one month ago, citing a variety of concerns, Schultz declared [video] that there should be "no military intervention at all" in Iraq. Suddenly, it seems, Schultz has gone superhawk. On his MSNBC show this evening, just hours before President Obama lays out his anti-ISIS plan, Schultz said that we should not rule out boots on the ground, and should not outsource the fighting to other countries. Are even Wendy Davis' most ardent supporters detecting the handwriting on the wall? Seems like it. There was NOW president Terry O'Neill, on this evening's Ed Show, coming close to throwing in the towel. Said O'Neill: "this has always been very much an uphill battle." Translation: Davis is going down in her race for Governor of Texas. O'Neill's comment came in the context of a discussion of Davis' recent disclosure that she had, reportedly for health reasons, undergone two abortions. It does seem that Davis, down in the polls and with little left to lose, decided to double down on...

(VIDEO-AT-LINK) Ed Schultz isn’t exactly known for being an independent thinker. But the MSNBC host bucked all other voices on his ultra-liberal cable network this week by opposing President Obama’s planned amnesty for millions of illegal immigrants, declaring on Tuesday that “I don’t think any country just hands out work permits to solve an immigration problem” and calling it “a real tough sell.” The union-friendly cable host already declared his opposition to the impending move on Monday. And during a debate with progressive radio host Mike Papantonio, Schultz doubled down. “I get a little bit nervous when I even hear...

It looks like Ed Schultz knows his days at MSNBC are numbered. I mean when you are a last place show on the fourth place news network you have to know you will soon be shown the exit door. Since Big Ed knows he will be splitting the MSNBC scene, he might as well throw caution to the end.  No need to perform a humiliating reversal as he did a few months ago from being a strong Keystone pipeline supporter to opposing it in order to save a job that is pretty much lost already. Therefore there was no real...

The GOP needs to do something with these "extremists" (Tea Party)!" Then when Boehner and some others won their primaries, the MSM narrative quickly shifted (as in goal-posts): B.) Winger-left blowhard Ed Schultz got a mention on Drudge today, for sending out a Tweet that said, "Gay people were really the ones being persecuted in Hitler's Germany." While 10,000-15,000 homosexuals were likely to have died at Hitler's hands (which is 10,000-15,000 too many), Schultz blithely and blindly ignores the plain historical fact that that number pales in comparison to the six million Jews who were gassed or shot by Hitler's goons. What Schultz overlooks, perhaps out of sheer historical ignorance, is that the persecution of homosexuals in Hitler's Germany was carried out by other homosexuals. Hitler was seeking to...

The story of Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy’s armed standoff with federal authorities has become one of those seemingly local stories that ends up exploding across national media because of its convenient partisan narrative. While conservative-friendly outlets like Fox News have taken to defending Bundy’s right to raise cattle on federally-protected land, liberal ones like MSNBC have taken the government’s side, best personified by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV), who has now twice referred to Bundy’s supporters as “domestic terrorists.” But with Fox doing so much actual defending of Bundy, did MSNBC’s Ed Schultz go too far last week when...

Liberals don’t like Ted Cruz. Many hate him. But why? Is it his conservative politics? That might have something do with it. The most plausible explanation is that liberals fear any politician who dares to be non-white, non-conformist, and non-complacent, and who challenges their 1940s Rooseveltian worldview. Whenever someone like Ted Cruz comes along, liberals cling to their outdated values, and immediately set out to neutralize this threat via a process known as “othering.” According to Yahoo! No, "I'm not off my rocker," Ed Schultz told his radio listeners after making an off-the-wall prediction. Actually, two predictions -- that Hillary Clinton is a virtual shoo-in who will waltz back into the White House, and that Dick Cheney will cave to pressure from movement conservatives and run for president. As for the first prediction, I vaguely recall many pundits saying much along the same lines ... back in 2007, followed by Clinton's highly-touted inevitability fading by the month after she was blinded-sided by an obscure senator from Illinois who could work a Teleprompter like none before him. Schultz pointed to rumors he saw on Twitter, which suggested the shuffle may actually be part of a larger MSNBC strategy to gradually show him...

Ed Schultz was in seventh heaven, lionizing Elizabeth Warren [new first name 'Sheriff'] for the way she grilled financial regulators for failing to take big banks to trial. Just one teenie-weenie factoid Ed failed to mention: those two regulators he showed Warren scalding during his MSNBC show tonight were appointed by, yup, President Barack Obama. View the video here.

Remember then-obscure Senator Barack Obama's speech to the 2004 DNC? All the no blue state, no red state stuff? Fugedaboutit. Now, he's all about killing—figuratively of course—his political opponents. Schultz sees Obama for what he is: and applauds him for it, of course. On his MSNBC show tonight, Schultz repeatedly claimed--polls notwithstanding--that America is a center-left, progressive country. On Obama's coming battles over his liberal agenda, Schultz said--with a sly grin--that when it comes to Republicans, the president's plan is to "grab the jugular." View the video here.

The hits keep coming from libtalker Ed Schultz, who's kicking off the new year on a roll. First week into 2013, Schultz insisted that Bill Clinton was never tried in the Senate after he was impeached by the House. Schultz followed with the laughable claim that gun laws in Chicago, a city with some of the nation's toughest restrictions on firearms, "don't even exist." (audio clip after page break) Schultz is tripling down on his ignorance, making an egregiously false claim on his radio show yesterday while talking about whether schools should allow teachers to arm themselves (h/t for embedded...
  • Clinton Not Tried in Senate After Impeachment, Ed Schultz Comically Insists

Ed Schultz's grasp of American history in the BB era -- Before Barack -- is tenuous at best. And when Schultz is wrong about something from that ancient realm of our past, he makes a fool out of himself. On his radio show Friday, Schultz got on the wrong side of an argument with a better informed caller. Naturally, Schultz couldn't resist hanging up on the man and labeling him an idiot.

This isn't the self-imposed idiocy commonly exhibited by liberals, but a rarefied strain found in left-wing radio and MSNBC. Ed Schultz, standing astride both, embodies it. Bad enough that Schultz insisted on his radio show Friday that heck no, gosh darn it, Bill Clinton was absotively, posalutely never tried in the Senate after he was impeached during the Lewinsky scandal. This from a man whose radio program begins with the lead-in, "where truth and common sense rule." (audio clip after page break) On that same radio broadcast, Schultz dug deep to reveal he's not equipped to render a valid opinion...

MSNBC's Ed Schultz named Sandra Fluke, the Georgetown coed who told a congressional panel that students were going broke buying contraception, a "middle class hero" for advocating free contraception, Twitchy reported Wednesday. "Even more hilarious," Twitchy said, "Fluke is boasting about it and preening." "Thx 4 including me in 2012 heroes & allowing me 2 share my friend's story--interview feels like lifetime ago," Fluke tweeted. According to Twitchy, conservatives on Twitter weren't impressed. "@SandraFluke hero? What a joke! Embarrassment is more like it," one person tweeted. "@SandraFluke what have you sacrificed to be labelled a hero? You're an underachieving grad...

ED SCHULTZ, MSNBC: "If I could just put it this way: the White House is taking the Republicans to the cleaners in negotiation on this. This is a huge win for the White House, if they can get the votes on this. And that's why Schumer is coming out, saying that there's going to be strong Democratic support here. This is a big win for the Democrats, no question about it. A big win for America. This underscores the vote on November 6th, there's no question about it."

Liberals always say they don’t want to take away guns. But give them an awful tragedy like the Newtown, Conn. shooting and they get bolder and more honest. MSNBC host Ed Schultz showed a rare bout of such honesty during a brief Twitter exchange Saturday. Schultz asked “Why should anyone own an assault rifle ?” and followed it up by saying “it's the confiscation of these types of weapons that counts and will have an impact.” “The Ed Show” host wasn’t done his attack on gun rights. “The NRA needs to state the case why assault weapons are needed by...

Ah, Thanksgiving. A time for Americans to come together, be grateful for their blessings—and tell people with different politics to stuff it? That's apparently Ed Schultz's take on the holiday. On his MSNBC show this evening, gloating over his presumption that taxes will be going up on the top 2%, Schultz sent this warm 'n fuzzy message to John Boehner: "think about it over your turkey and stuffing Speaker Boehner. And by the way, you can put some gravy on that--and you know the rest of the sentence." View the video here.

On MSNBC's Ed Schultz program Friday night, the former chief of staff for Colin Powell, retired Army Col. Lawrence Wilkerson, said, of the Republican Party, "My party is full of racists ... and the real reason a considerable portion of my party wants President Obama out of the White House has nothing to do with the content of his character, nothing to do with his competence as commander in chief and president, and everything to do with the color of his skin ... that's despicable." Wilkerson's allegation followed his former boss's endorsement of President Obama for a second term. The...

Appearing on Friday's NBC Today, left-wing MSNBC host Ed Schultz desperately tried to explain away President Obama's bad debate performance: "I think that there were so many lies coming across that stage, and so many inaccuracies, it was hard for the President to comprehend it and decide which one he wanted to attack first." [Listen to the audio or watch the video after the jump] Co-host Savannah Guthrie called him out on the liberal talking point: "That sounds a little bit like you're making excuses for the President." Schultz doubled down on his lame attempt to defend the President: "[Romney]...
