Carlos Cascos stood his ground Sunday, disputing reports from Democratic Party officials that a review of the recount of Nov. 2 election returns showed him losing to John Wood by five votes for county judge instead of winning by 50 votes as the Cameron County Elections Department had reported Saturday night. “I look forward to continuing my work for the people of Cameron County as their county judge,” Cascos, the Republican incumbent, wrote in a press release issued at noon Sunday. Shortly after 2 a.m. Sunday, word began to spread that a review of tally sheets at the recount —...

Sarah Palin took aim at Alaska Sen. Lisa Murkowski late Friday evening, after a phone call from the senator’s camp resulted in the suspension of a local conservative radio talk show host. Palin charged on her Facebook page that one of Murkowski’s “hired guns threatened” radio personality Dan Fagan, who encouraged hundreds of Alaskans to file as write-in candidates Thursday afternoon just hours before the filing deadline – a development that was seen as a blow to the senator’s write-in candidacy. Murkowski’s media buyer, John Tracy, called Fagan’s radio station Friday to tell the station manager that he believed the...

It appears--as it has for a long long time--that Democrat “leaders” are not subject to any laws save the ones they make up…all by themselves. And as the US Department of Justice is now as corrupt as any has ever been, no one will do anything to stop the open crookedness and thievery going on in an open and “in your face” fashion. So, here are a few (at the very least) things to remember that We-the-People will probably have to look forward to on 2 November 2010: Intimidation by the New Black Panthers and Obama union thugs of--specifically--white...

As a former ACORN official turned whistleblower, Anita Moncrief knows a thing or two about electioneering. In fact, in the months leading up to the 2008 election, she had been in contact with a writer at the New York Times – Stephanie Strom – about how the Obama campaign was corrupting the voting process. Taken in the context of Michelle Obama's alleged comments inside a polling station days before the 2010 elections, the first lady has added yet another sad chapter in the questionable practices of Team Obama and the electoral process, including the case involving the New Black Panther...

The Democrat Chairman of the Chicago Board of Elections refuses to investigate Michelle Obama for her reported poling place campaigning. Democrat Chairman Langdon D. Neal and his Chicago Board of Elections are not investigating the First Lady for her, if true, complete violation of Illinois state law that strictly forbids electioneering at any polling place. The First Lady was in Chicago’s South Side yesterday, where she cast her ballot early at a voting center. However, reports soon emerged that she had actively campaigned on behalf of her husband—who is about to possibly lose both chambers of Congress and currently has...

Oh my: Michelle Obama electioneering in polling place? posted at 7:15 pm on October 14, 2010 by Allahpundit regular view When Drudge puts up the red font — with italics, no less — we’re almost obliged to blog it, aren’t we? I’m … outrageously outraged?

The Virginia State Board of Elections has unanimously adopted a policy that prohibits voters from wearing anything that expressly supports a candidate at polling places on November 4. State law has always said no campaigning, but all 134 Virginia counties had different ways of interpreting that. "Some very permissive, allowing people to wear anything in; some only removing stickers; others not allowing t-shirts, caps or anything with a candidates name," Virginia State Board of Elections Chair Jean Cunningham said. But some say even this policy leaves the door open for interpretation. "Interpreting other people's speech on their t-shirts and buttons...

I got this email from my school district (I'm on their listserv for school closings etc.) proudly announcing the appearance of Senator Obama at the high school stadium tomorrow. The entire senior high is invited along with the public. Isn't this highly inappropriate to alter the regular school schedule so students and teachers can attend a political campaign event? And why was I notified using the usual conveyence of "real" school news and information to parent? Why was I notified at all? I think the school district is overstepping its bounds and acting like a shill for the democrat candidate....

First-hand account of District 2 electioneering violations Susan Bergmann recounts a disturbing day of District 2 poll watching and electioneering violations by partisans. — • — [Editor's note: California Elections Code § 18370 forbids certain activities within 100 feet of a polling place, such as electioneering, placing an election sign, or speaking to a voter about whom to vote for.] Just two days before the election, I decided I wanted to spend Election Day as an observer. So I read some materials about election rules, charged up my digital camera, and found a friend willing to spend part of the day with...

NOT CONTENT with hypergrowth in the business world, ubiquitous on-demand software pioneer Salesforce.com is moving into politics after providing the underlying CRM program for US Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney’s ComMitt fundraising efforts. Political campaigns have traditionally been concocted using a ham-handed combination of chewing gum and string but the face of the Salesforce platform probably fits for anybody seeking a highly distributed and shareable programme that is accessible over the web. Having done the deed for Romney, Salesforce wants to productise its work in a programme called CampaignForce that will be distributed on the AppExchange trading site for Salesforce-compatible...

What are the conditions at your polling place? How is turnout? The weather? The voting equipment? Was checking in easy? Were there people outside electioneering? if so, who was there, Republicans or Democrats or others? At my polling place, thigns were slow when my wife and I went to vote about 8-ish. One of the few guys passing out literature (for the newly-Republican State Senator inmy district) was saying that the turnout had been very low. (I'm going to go over there later and see how it's going.) The only people electioneering were two guys handing out literature for the...

If an election can turn on a sentence, this could be the one: “You don't need papers for voting.” On Thursday night, Francine Busby, the Democratic candidate for the 50th Congressional District, was speaking before a largely Latino crowd in Escondido when she uttered those words. She said yesterday she simply misspoke. But someone taped it and a recording began circulating yesterday. After she made that statement at the meeting, Busby immediately said: “You don't need to be a registered voter to help (the campaign).” She said that subsequent statement was to clarify what she meant. The recording, which was...

Retired teachers now receive a maximum of $75 while state workers can get up to $120. Senator Wampler’s SB175 increases the Virginia Retirement System multiplier from 1.7% to 2% by...

The McCain-Feingold law was upheld only two years ago, but that ruling came on a 5-4 vote. ...In the Wisconsin Right to Life case, the organization launched an ad campaign last year knowing it would force a test of the law's reach. Olympia—The Evergreen Freedom Foundation (EFF) today filed a complaint with the Civil Rights Division of the U.S. Department of Justice, alleging that King County deceived federal and state authorities when it claimed all ballots for military voters were mailed on time for the November 2004 election. “After months of attempting to obtain definitive mailing records from King County through public records requests, we are now able to conclude that King County Election officials failed to meet the federal deadline for the mailing of numerous military ballots,” said EFF President Bob Williams in the complaint. The county has recently admitted it...

Note: Links show how the facts of the case this article describes correspond to patterns uncovered in San Francisco's stadium election investigation. Earlier this year in an office building in the New Orleans suburb of Metairie, witnesses were still talking about the 1996 election for the U.S. Senate in which Democrat Mary Landrieu defeated Republican Louis "Woody" Jenkins. "This nice person drove up and asked whether I was registered," one woman said to the lawyers and investigators for Jenkins. "I told him I was but I didn't feel like going. He said, 'If I paid you, would you go?' I...

All reasonable people know it -- it was well documented by various media sources throughout the 2004 election and now we have the concrete proof: Democrats and their operatives were far and away more involved in voter intimidation, fraud, suppression and, yes, disenfranchisement, than Republicans. It's not even close. But don't take our word for it liberals, read the 368-page report by the non-partisan American Center for Voting Rights yourself. The mission statement on the American Center for Voting Rights web site describes the organization in the following manner: The American Center For Voting Rights (ACVR) was founded in February...

Cobbeldick aims his sights on town's top office Thursday, August 04, 2005 By CAROLYN STEIGMAN BAY VILLAGE _ If Bruce Cobbeldick isn't elected mayor of Bay Village in November, it won't be for lack of trying. He has been campaigning at a feverish pace since first announcing his plan to run for the position in March 2004. A U.S. District Court judge on Friday struck down Washington state's new "top two" primary system, approved by voters last fall, as unconstitutional, saying it infringed on the rights of political parties to pick their own nominees for office. In a 40-page ruling, Judge Thomas Zilly said the state cannot allow voters to skip back and forth along party lines as they pick a favorite candidate for each office. Nor can it allow candidates to identify themselves by party on a ballot without that party's approval, the ruling said. The state Republican, Democratic and Libertarian parties sued in May to...

It was frighteningly easy. Within five days I was able to obtain postal ballot papers enabling me to vote 11 times in the general election - and in county council elections on the same day. No checks, no questions asked. I could, if I chose to, vote this week for candidates in areas ranging from London to York and from East Sussex to Cornwall Of course, I will not do that. The point of The Telegraph's investigation was not to steal votes, but to expose how flaws in the postal ballot system mean that the general election is, despite repeated...

FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS, Ill. (AP) - Five East St. Louis Democrats were charged in a scheme to buy votes in November's election in a federal indictment unsealed Wednesday. An undetermined number of voters were paid $5 or $10 to cast a Democratic ballot in the Nov. 2 election, court records said. The money allegedly came from the St. Clair County Democratic Committee, though there was no indication the county committee knew how the funds would be used. Federal prosecutors charged four Democratic committeemen and one precinct worker, a day after three other committeemen and a precinct worker pleaded guilty to related...

The IRS has notified a Liberty City church that it is under investigation for possibly engaging in political activity -- putting its tax-exempt status into question. The probe is related to an appearance last October by Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry and several black leaders, including U.S. Rep. Kendrick Meek of Miami, the Rev. Al Sharpton and the Rev. Jesse Jackson. The reason for the investigation, an IRS official wrote in a 10-page letter obtained by The Herald, is that ``a reasonable belief exists that Friendship Missionary Baptist Church has engaged in political activities that could jeopardize its tax-exempt status...

We're all completely familiar by now with the pretty rock-solid indications that the Democrats stole the Washington governors race - and now that we're getting proof of the rather large Democratic efforts at voter fraud, I think it is high time we started to look everywhere - and some people have started to take a look at Wisconsin. Stranded on Blue Islands gives us the whole scoop about the Wisconsin vote but I'll just note three things: 1. You can register to vote on election day in Wisconsin. 2. In Miwaukee alone, 10,000 votes cannot be verified - ie, they...

Officials are investigating how at least 35 foreign citizens, and possibly dozens more, were allowed to vote in elections in Harris county. One of those illegal voters was a 73-year-old Brazilian woman whose registration was canceled in 1996 after she acknowledged on a jury summons that she was not a U.S. citizen. But the following year she was again given a new voter card, which wasn't discovered until recently. Records show that since 1997 the woman voted at least four times in general and Democratic primary elections, most recently in November. Last year, at least 35 foreign citizens either applied...

"This is exactly the kind of issue that I think can be brought up in the contested-election statutes," Reed said. But why did he certify the election if the numbers are in doubt? "What I signed was a certification for the numbers that were submitted to us by the counties," he said. "I am not in a judicial or an investigative role here." The latest questions about King County came after the elections office released on Wednesday a list of all registered voters in the county, broken down by those who voted and those who didn't. The Republican Party, among...

With all the votes tallied after a recount in the roller coaster race for governor, Christine O. Gregoire, the Democrat who trailed in the campaign and in a previous recount, won by 130 votes as battered Republicans demanded more vote counting and vowed to use every legal weapon to reverse the extraordinary turnaround. The Republican candidate, Dino Rossi, 45, won the Nov. 2 election in the initial count by 261 votes and a machine recount by 42 votes. But a statewide hand recount completed Thursday gave Ms. Gregoire, 57, a microscopic but notable lead out of the 2.9 million votes...

Washington, DC, Nov. 9 (UPI) -- Observers watching the counting of New Mexico's 2004 provisional and absentee ballots have uncovered evidence of voter fraud, Opinion Journal said Tuesday. O.J. political diarist John Fund said the Bernalillo County clerk "told media outlets that observers had discovered instances of voter fraud" during the attempt to qualify 18,000 provisional and absentee ballots cast in last week's presidential election. "In counting the first 5,000 provisional ballots," Fund reported, "observers turned up 53 instances of individuals voting more than once. They also found four voters who were dead and dozens of felons attempting to vote....

Republicans in Michigan are breathing a sigh of relief today - and not only because President Bush won a second term, despite narrowly losing Michigan. In Detroit, mostly white Republican poll watchers dispatched to monitor mostly-black city vote counting encountered uncomfortable, racially charged situations. Poll watchers overseeing absentee vote-counting at Cobo Center, for example, reported widespread fraud in the counting of ballots. The incident raised the specter of a politically dicey GOP lawsuit, a move now less urgent given Bush's national victory. "Craziest thing I've ever seen," said one poll watcher. "They had 100 tables and just five poll watchers...

Lansing, MI - Following a criminal complaint filed in Waterford on Monday alleging the Waterford Township Clerk harassed a woman hoping to vote an absentee ballot for President Bush, the Michigan Republican Party called on Waterford Police and Oakland County prosecutors to set a precedent of fully enforcing election laws by fully prosecuting this type of voter intimidation. "This type of felonious intimidation is unconscionable," said Executive Director Greg McNeilly. "Unfortunately, this behavior is consistent with the message of hate and anger coming from the very top of the Kerry campaign. John Kerry himself constantly belittles those who don't endorse...

The secretary of state's office said there were complaints that members of liberal interest group MoveOn.Org were causing disruptions at precincts in communities scattered across the state. Kelly Chesney, spokeswoman for Michigan Secretary of State Terri Lynn Land, said several local election clerks complained about MoveOn.Org, saying its representatives wanted tables at polling places. The organization, she said, also wanted voters redirected in some cases so they passed in front of MoveOn.Org representatives.

Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani said Tuesday that he knows from personal experience how important it is to have an ample cadre of poll watchers monitoring polling places - since vote fraud scuttled his first bid to become mayor in 1989. Commenting on Election Day reports that Philadelphia voting machines were found to be stuffed with thousands of ballots before the polls opened, Giuliani said: "It happened to me in 1989." The Republican mayor told WABC Radio's John Gambling that at the time his advisors had calculated he'd need 50,000 to 75,000 extra votes just to compensate for...
