    California New Law.. Warrantless Searches Starting next year police here in California will have power to search without a warrant. The circumstances are limited, but the principle isent. Thanks to a bill signed by Governor Brown, police can search for pirated copies of movies and compact discs. The idea is to cut down on stolen intellectual property. The warrantless searches will be allowed at 'plants' that make commercial copies of CDs and DVDs. Some wonder if that violates the Fourth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution dealing with Search and Seizure. Others wonder if one day the law will expand.....
