Cunning News Network - How CNN Propagandized The Boston Bombing

“Most voters still get their news from television,” a Rasmussen survey sadly reported before dropping the big bomb. “[They] consider the news reported by the media generally trustworthy.” Any serious student of media and propaganda rapidly comes to the conclusion that if one strives to be misinformed, they must watch the evening news. This is nothing new (and hence not news). Long ago a wag opined “Trying to be a first-rate reporter on the average American newspaper is like trying to play Bach's St. Matthew's Passion on a ukulele.” Little changed when news quit being produced with ink and started...

CNN Gets 'Fooled' by a Palestinian Child's Death; Real Story Is Hamas Barbarity Against Own People

A video at CNN with reporting by Sara Sidner from Gaza tells us "how a small child became a symbol of civilian casualties." Some of her narrative: A scene no parent should ever have to endure" "Four year-old Mahmoud Sadallah lies dead in the arms of a neighbor, a child of Gaza, another victim of an airstrike" "we saw no evidence here of military activity." There's even a scene where Ms. Sidner reports having to flee where she is currently reporting because "there are airstrikes" and "rockets" Since Hamas doesn't have an air force, we're supposed to assume that Israel's...

Children blame ‘Mom and Dad’ for electing Mitt, sing about Romney letting sick people ‘just die’

A new video from the founders of a celebrated advertising agency features children “of the future” singing about the aftermath of a Mitt Romney presidency: A world where sick people are required to “just die,” the atmosphere is “frying,” gays can be “fixed” and “oil fills the sea.” The children, who stare blankly at the camera throughout the video, even take pains to explicitly mention that they blame “mom and dad” for all those horrors. The video — produced by the founders of the advertising agency Goodby Silverstein & Partners, which came up with the famous tagline “Got milk?” and...

Tina Brown Says Her Newsweek Cover Conveys Michele Bachmann’s ‘Intensity’

Newsweek has been catching a lot of flak today for its latest cover, in which Michele Bachmann is shown with an expression you might see on the face of a serial killer who has just spotted a new victim. Newsweek editor Tina Brown disagreed in a tweet today, contending that "Bachmann’s intensity is galvanizing voters in Iowa right now and Newsweek’s cover captures that." Really? It looks like it conveys, "This woman needs an exorcist."

The 'Titanic' and 'Avatar': A Curious Obsession with Nazi Sympathizer Leni Riefenstahl

Robert von Dassanowsky, the director of Film Studies at the University of Colorado, acutely noticed back in 2001 that James Cameron's epic movie Titanic is based on the German mountain films that Riefenstahl starred in. Although largely ignoring Riefenstahl's compromised relationship with the Nazis, von Dassanowsky makes a compelling case that Cameron's Titanic is a German mountain film set upon the sea ice of the North Atlantic. Von Dassanowsky even went so far to strongly suggest that the heroine in the Titanic, Rose, is actually based on Riefenstahl's personal character. He then intimates that Cameron may have indeed directed the...

NYT: Empty Skies Over Afghanistan

THE Taliban have found a way to beat American airpower. And they have managed this remarkable feat with American help. The consequences of this development are front and center in the current offensive in Marja, Afghanistan, where air support to American and Afghan forces has been all but grounded by concerns about civilian casualties. American and NATO military leaders — worried by Taliban propaganda claiming that air strikes have killed an inordinate number of civilians, and persuaded by “hearts and minds” enthusiasts that the key to winning the war is the Afghan population’s goodwill — have largely relinquished the strategic...

From Abu Ghraib To Kabul, Blackwater Members Are Drunk (propaganda)

An American newspaper has revealed a new scandal committed by Blackwater (actually it was Armor Group - foreign 3rd world personnel) security guards protecting the American Embassy in the Afghan capital city of Kabul. The newspaper published a report titled ‘This is what our children are doing abroad’. The report said, “They are drinking vodka and peeing on themselves like animals. They intentionally run outside naked and then pour vodka over each other’s asses.” The newspaper wondered, “What makes the Pentagon deal with these ‘special companies’ that cause harm and kill in a criminal way?” The newspaper noted, “Their ‘gay...

Will Americans Tune To Al Jazeera?

Middle East news giant Al Jazeera has gained its first big foothold in the U.S. TV market. Now it has to overcome perceptions of bias. At the headquarters of the Al Jazeera news network in Doha, Qatar, staffers were getting ready for the big news event of the day: Barack Obama's speech in Cairo. "Watch, he's about to announce he's converted to Islam," joked one of them. More Arabs watched Obama's speech on Al Jazeera (the name means "the island") than on any other news network. The Arabic language channel boasts 53 million viewers--CNN has 70 million in the U.S.--while...

Iran state media: Hey, maybe a protester killed Neda

Yeah, could be. None of them have guns, and as far as I know, not a single Basij or cop has been shot by a protester despite a full week of brutal beatings and killings. But aside from that, the theory’s airtight. "And now, the Iranian government is apparently claiming that rioters were responsible for Ms. Agha-Soltan’s death. The government-run Islamic Republic of Iran News Network (IRINN) reported that a “reliable source” confirmed after examining the bullet and the way Ms. Agha-Soltan was shot that rioters were responsible for her death, and that a number of people had been arrested...

Anchor Contessa Brewer introduced the piece by asserting, "The White House is warning that a bad economy, combined with the election of the nation's first black President, could draw new extremist right-wing members, especially war veterans, to a dangerous cause." An onscreen graphic behind her featured a red and blue Republican elephant and fretted, "New Right-Wing Threat?"

Reuters Knowingly Reports Lie About Binghamton Shooting -- The Taliban Did It

Why would Reuters pass this Taliban propaganda off as news?
Maddow Buys Into North Korean Gitmo Propaganda

How gullible is Rachel Maddow? Plenty, apparently. The MSNBC host has bought into North Korean propaganda on Gitmo. On last night’s show [MSNBC video here], Maddow told the story of two American reporters being held by the North Koreans. In response to inquiries on how they are being treated, the North Koreans reportedly said: “we are not Guantanamo.” That plunged Maddow into a bad bout of Bush-Cheney Derangement Syndrome. According to her, until we expunge the supposed stain of Gitmo and Bush admin policies on dealing with suspected terrorists, we will never have the moral authority to condemn the abuse...

Famous Obama ‘Hope’ Image Stolen?

So, where exactly did the communist graphics inspired artist Shepard Fairey get the image of Obama for his ubiquitous “Hope” poster featuring a confident, young Obama intently staring off into the distance for glorious leader’s future, anyway? Turns out the celebrated artist stole it from an Associated Press freelance photographer and never bothered to acknowledge where he got it in the first place.
CNN republishes fake atrocity video (sourced from Hamas’ webmaster)

Yesterday evening, I wrote about CNN’s use of an obvious fake video ( see here : http://hotair.com/archives/2009/01/08/cnn-stung-by-fake-atrocity-video), sourced from Hamas’ webmaster, of an alleged Israeli attack on two young boys playing on a roof. After being exposed by blogs, CNN took the video down without any explanation. As of 4:30 pm ET today, though, the video has returned to CNN’s site ( SEE HERE : http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/world/2009/01/07/holmes.gaza.boy.cnn ), although they seem to have turned off the embedding for it.
Ok, I'll admit, I'm up late. At 4:00 ABC's World News Now ran their headlines. First teaser: A flyover view of midtown Manhattan leading into Times Square. Focus on the video board above the US military recruiting station. A heads-up display appears and an explosion takes place over Times Square. Voice over says,"Mideast Attacks; Israel Pounds Gaza Two Days In a Row..." Then the scene shifts to Gaza.OK, here's the deal. I'm not crazy. Fairey is a pretentious, arrogant, pompous, self-indulgently and sickeningly hip Socialist as the video demonstrates. I came across this video of him at his show in D.C. in Oct. The name of his show: "Regime Change Starts at Home". It's really not that long, 5 min. or so.
