The libertarian novelist, journalist, humorist, and philosopher Robert Anton Wilson died at about 4:50 this morning, Pacific Coast time. As far as I'm aware, the last thing he wrote was this, posted on his blog last Saturday: Various medical authorities swarm in and out of here predicting I have between two days and two months to live. I think they are guessing. I remain cheerful and unimpressed. I look forward without dogmatic optimism but without dread. I love you all and I deeply implore you to keep the lasagna flying. Please pardon my levity, I don't see how to take...

Robert Anton Wilson, co-author of the cult classic "The Illuminatus! Trilogy," a science-fiction series about a secret global society, has died. He was 74. Wilson died peacefully of natural causes at his home Thursday in Capitola in Santa Cruz County, his daughter Christina Pearson said Saturday. Post-polio syndrome had severely weakened Wilson's legs, leading to a fall seven months ago that left him bedridden until his death, Pearson said. Wilson wrote 35 books on subjects such as extrasensory perception, mental telepathy, metaphysics, paranormal experiences, conspiracy theory, sex, drugs and what he called quantum psychology. He wrote the "Illuminatus" trilogy with...

Luhman and his colleagues used the Hubble Space Telescope to photograph an object, about 10 Jupiter masses, orbiting the star CHXR 73. The orbiting object's mass alone would typically identify it as a heavy planet spawned from a disk that once surrounded this young star. However, the newfound object lies about five times as far from CHXR 73 as Pluto's average distance from the sun. Theory suggests that a gas-and-dust disk isn't likely to contain enough material that far from a star to make a planet... Distinguishing between brown dwarfs and planets is important, says Luhman. A brown dwarf could...

A distant, icy rock whose discovery shook up the solar system and led to Pluto's planetary demise has been given a name: Eris. The christening of Eris, named after the Greek goddess of chaos and strife, was announced by the International Astronomical Union on Wednesday. Weeks earlier, the professional astronomers' group stripped Pluto of its planethood under new controversial guidelines. Since its discovery last year, Eris, which had been known as 2003 UB313, ignited a debate about what constitutes a planet. Astronomers were split over how to classify the object because there was no universal definition. Some argued it should...

In this war freedom should come first not after! In New Hampshire the Motto is Live free or Die! I don't need Bush spying on law abiding americans and taking our freedoms. Anyone who surrenders a square inch of freedom to the government in the name of saftey is a traitor and should be treated like one! Let the Bush Fashists all drop dead! Filthy Commys! LET FREEDOM RING!

Music Teacher Must Register As Sex Offender CLACKAMAS, Ore. -- A former elementary school teacher convicted on 20 counts of encouraging child sex abuse learned his sentence Monday. Gregg Ritchie (pictured) was sentenced to two years probation. He will also register as a sex offender and pay a $12,000 fine. Ritchie taught music at Oak Grove Elementary School in the North Clackamas School District. He was arrested in September after an investigation uncovered child pornography on his computer. He maintained that the images were there by accident.

Fellow Americans, there comes a time every mans life when we must give up ourselves before we are worthy to recieve. There comes a time in this war on terror when in order to protect liberty, we have to give it up in the mean time for safty. That's right folks. Today, Americans have forsaken the creator for the creation and have decided that they would value our "civil liberties" than protecting western civilization and rich white people from the tender mercies of radical Islamic terrorists. Selfish liberals insist and whine that Bush has no right to spy on Americans...

After reading all of the crap that people have been saying regarding Adult Private Social Clubs, I felt that I had to post an article and give my opinion. I am sick and tired of all the religous groups that are saying that there are drugs, prostitution, minors, non-consenting people, and just immoral people at these clubs! First of all, who do these people think they are to decide what is morally right or wrong for me? I believe that I have a good set of morals. I am a law abiding, tax paying citizen, I work full time and...

who needs freedom anyway? I mean, look at what it's doen to us. America has more crime, more poverty, and more problems than any other country in the world all beacuse of freedom. The freedom to do what we want but shouldn't there be limits? Especially now that we are at war? Allowing the liberals to smear our soldiers and to sympathize with arabs is demoralizing. We never had this problem in WWII. We just threw them into camps if they messed up. Back when this country was young, we had no freedom. Everyone went to church, women did what...

What am I hearing? I never get on these forums so I have no Idea what proper ettiquette is, or who this comment is dirrected to. (Cant tell who was talking and who was responding.) But, by the name I chose to use Im sure my stand is obvious. Dad Accused of Giving Son Regents Answers By FRANK ELTMAN, Associated Press Writer Mon Jun 27, 5:37 PM ET NEW YORK - An assistant principal at a Long Island high school was arraigned Monday on a misdemeanor charge of official misconduct after allegedly giving his son the answers to a global history Regents exam last week, state officials said. According to Spitzer and state Education...

I am trying to start a recruiting campaign to help out our military with their current recruiting shortage. One of my buddies is working as a recruiter right now and he told me about all the problems he is facing. I figured FR would be the best place to come to put something like this together because of the political leanings and the willingness to stand up and fight against terrorism. I've been here before and mostly perused the site without joining but i thought this was important enough to join. Basically what i am trying to do is start...

Why do we sit behind our computers? Why not enroll? Who is with me? The real message we can send to the left is to enroll in the military. Who's coming with me? I am going this afternoon. Stand up for your President and this country. Stop being an armchair supporter. Lets mobilize. Who's with me?

A Campobello teen is accused of raping one neighbor's dog and another neighbor's two little girls. Now the dog has died and charges against the teen have been upgraded. After receiving word that the dog died possibly because of the rape. Fox Carolina called the Solicitor's office to see if now new charges would be filed against the teen. An hour later Solicitor Trey Gowdy called to say that the charges will be upgraded to the "most serious animal cruelty charges they have on the books." The dog's owner Sylvia Jones says, "At first when it happened, I couldn't eat...

Once more we have been granted a look into the dark abyss of Left-wing character. It is an abyss of inarticulate invective, obscenity, and hatred. It is a vacuum of immense proportion completely devoid of morality, logic, or intellect, fed by the paranoid delusions generated by marijuana befogged brains filled with the misinformation fed to them by their Leftist programmers; parrots spouting the latest hateful mantras. For a look into this frightening world of irrationality, you need only visit my previous post titled, Cindy Sheehan: Are Those Crocodile Tears? , and read the comments left by them. I hope you...

I am absolutely outraged and believe the entire bush and blair administrations need to be put in shackles and tried for war crimes in the Hague. Impeachment should begin in the US immediately for bush, cheney and most of their cabinet. These outrageous, deadly actions makes Watergate seem insignificant. Everyone in CONGRESS who has supported the bush administration over the lies and deceptions of the illegitimate Iraq War should resign immediately or also face impeachment. bush and his administration and blair and his administration should also be tried along with Sadam. Does the United States House of Representatives need anything...

I often hear Rush and other conservatives talk about seminars that liberals can attend to be instructed on how to call conservative talk shows, post on conservative websites, etc. The problem is that I have never seen such a seminar. No other liberal I know seems to know how to find one either. So I am thinking that maybe you are the ones to ask about them.

My uncle the pastor was just preaching this morning at church about a bunch of stuff iun the bible. I was wondering if you could help me understand some of it though im new. First of all Im confused about a passage of scripture about cain. It said he had a wife but where did he get it? I heard Ken ham say somthing about that but I forgot the answer. Second, I heard that Choo Choo trains that go backwards were in the bible and were considered satanic. Is that true? Finally I was wondering about if in Israel...

Folks, Zenit.Org is featuring an interview with Massimo Introvigne, director of the Turin-based Center for Studies in New Religions, regarding the existence of the so-called "Illuminati," and their links to the Freemasons, the Knights Templar, etc., as well as the resurgence of their myth in Dan Brown's "historical" novels, Angels and Demons and The DaVinci Code. This is my favorite quote:Those who want to persuade us that a secret Illuminati cabal did lead the world from the Renaissance to the 19th century, and continues to do so today, have a very difficult burden of proof, and never even came close...

(Robert Anton Wilson is the author of "Illuminatus Trilogy" and many other books) -------------------------------------------------- Position Paper #1 After refusing many pleas to run for governor, I have reconsidered and now enter the race as an unofficial write-in candidate. After all, why shd I remain the ONLY nut in California who ain't running? My party, the Guns and Dope Party, invites extremists of both right and left to unite behind the shared goals of 1) Get those pointy-headed Washinton bureaucrats off our backs and off our fronts too! 2) guns for everybody who wants them; no guns for those who don't...

Let's face i, governments and unions are agents of THEFT and to a large degree, they are the bagmen of the middle class. They distort the markets for labor and trade so that some people are able to TAKE more resources out of the pockets of the owning class than they are entitled to. It makes me sick. Most of the people in the “middle class” in America have no business having what they have. If the just, God-given market forces were left alone, those thieves would be living in the shacks their productivity entitles them to and the wealthy...

There is an internet vandal who defaces Free Republic with very gross pictures (homosexual sex and stuff from rotton.com) as well as posting "ALL YOU F***** N*****S & JEWS SHOULD BE LYNCHED".He pings a variety of people to his post, ensuring that the trash is still in their My Posts lists. To me, this isn't the milder form of harassment that Eschoir engaged in so many years ago. The very worst he would do is ask if you ever committed sodomy, and he once used the screen name "Paula Jones Tw*t". This is mild. What this sick piece of work is doing...

'Here it is. The smoking gun. The memo that has "IMPEACH HIM" written all over it. 'The top-level government memo marked "SECRET AND STRICTLY PERSONAL," dated eight months before Bush sent us into Iraq, following a closed meeting with the President, reads, "Military action was now seen as inevitable. Bush wanted to remove Saddam through military action justified by the conjunction of terrorism and WMD. But the intelligence and facts were being fixed around the policy." 'Read that again: "The intelligence and facts were being fixed . . . ."

MISSOULA— The Missoula police officer who was shot in the chest and leg Wednesday night was saved by his bulletproof vest and the keys to his handcuffs. The keys, which Officer Rick Stevenson kept in the breast pocket of his uniform, deflected the first bullet, which then shattered and sent shrapnel into his arm, Missoula Police Lt. Mark Muir said Thursday. "His vest absolutely saved his life," Muir said. The second bullet struck Stevenson in the leg, breaking but not shattering the bone. Stevenson is being treated at St. Patrick Hospital and is recovering well, Missoula County Sheriff's Capt. Susan...

I drove out to San Francisco yesterday and spent the night there so as to be ready for court this morning—nothing major at all, just a minor misdameanor.

San Francisco is a kind of heaven. Not the boring sort of cotton-wadded hell that they told you about in Sunday school, but a vibrant, living place with lights and style. It is the only city I know, with the possible exception of Boston, that has a personality. Los Angeles has no personality; just plastic surgery. But San Francisco is alive. I consider it proof, by the way, that liberalism is better than conservatism. No sane person would prefer to live in Salt Lake City than San Francisco.

It's really hard to extract any truth from FR. Here's another shot. I've heard a lot about judicial activism and maliciously liberal judges, but have not heard exactly what they have done. I am a kid whose beliefs have not solidified yet. My parents are very conservative and want me to turn into one too. So I come to this website to learn about the movement, but all you guys do is yell about things that don't seem wrong to me. Here's my question: would is be possible for anyone here to write down 20 liberal usurpations, 20 times that...

Many argue that communism will never be possible because of "human nature". The essence of this false argument is the belief that a communist society would consist of an all-powerful central government that would tell everybody what to do--and would therefore undermine the creative initiative of individuals and the search for happiness. • This argument is based on two false assumptions: (1) It assumes that a communist society will look like the former Soviet Union, or the current China, North Korea, etc (ie: corrupt police states with a feudal-style ruling class) (2) It assumes that people will only work in...

this site is whacked. The whole website claims to oppose somthing with one side of it's mouth and then goes around supporting basically the same thing. You all claim to oppose Islam but advocate the same things they do. You even worship the same god they do. You claim to support free speech and religious liberty but demand that the seperation of church and state that has protected religious freedom be torn down and anyone who says anything critical about Bush, Rush or any so called conservative thrown out. You claim to oppose media biased but are far more biased...

Would one of you rightists please explain to this liberal, card-carrying member of the ACLU why George W. Bush is ignoring our border security and allowing a bunch of Wal*Mart shopping goobers to do the job that us taxpayers have paid the U.S. Border Patrol to do? What gives, cons? We on the left thought that you apologists were all for our national security interests. Has your patriotism become as selective as your morality; as you people let it be known in the Terri Schiavo piety circus? Keep looking the other way, I dare you. Keep ignoring this Latino vote-gathering...

I just had a thought. You defenders of MS help me logic it out. In 1993 he received a malpractice settlement, the majority of which was for the rehabilitation of his wife- if I understand correctly? Therefore, there must have been some presumption that she could have been rehabilitated to some degree. Later in 1993, he testified that he melted down all her jewelry to make a ring for himself. All her jewelry. Why would you melt down your wife's wedding ring and jewelry, if the effort was to rehabilitate her?. Don't you think she might have wanted it, if...

We want a country where we can burn the heretics, put the gays in the labor camps, and put bibles back in our schools to get that horrible science out. Let's stop preaching this "democracy" nonsense. Democracy is for those liberal Democrat judges, not us at Free Republic. We want a theocracy, where the laws of the Lord are obeyed. I want the U.S. to be a merciless ruler of the world, no mercy for the arabs, because mercy is for liberal Democrats. So who's with me? Let's show those ACLU constitution-lovin' terrorists what America is all about! PRAISE THE...

March 24, 2005 OP-ED COLUMNIST DeLay, Deny and Demagogue By MAUREEN DOWD h my God, we really are in a theocracy. Are the Republicans so obsessed with maintaining control over all branches of government, and are the Democrats so emasculated about not having any power, that they are willing to turn the nation into a wholly owned subsidiary of the church? The more dogma-driven activists, self-perpetuating pols and ratings-crazed broadcast media prattle about "faith," the less we honor the credo that a person's relationship with God should remain a private matter. As the Bush White House desperately maneuvers in Iraq...

Gas costs so much. I cant afford it. Why want Bush do something? Don't say he can't. His daddy or his handlers could be on the phone in 2 minutes with the Rothchilds and by 1 week, oil prices would be under $20 and gas would be 1 dollar a gallon. You know it and I know it. Why want he? Do you know? Is there sombody we can call? Plaese advice.

You folks would consider me a liberal, and I am not embarrassed at the label. I certainly believe in a safety net for society and helping minorites who otherwise would not be given opportunities. I had heard about FreeRepublic and expected this site to be a sinister plotting device for crazed right wing freaks. It's really not that at all. It is mostly a chatty mix of simplicities and Bush hero worship. It's actually rather timid here, you might even say banal. I guess it's the sort of intellectually challenged place that you would expect from red state denizens who...

I post on several forums and avidly and sternly denounce the war crimes of the Bush Administration. I received an email yesterday saying I better watch it as the Bush Administration is arresting those critical of them under the Patriot Act stating they are supporting terrorism. I was told I could be detained indefinitely without arraignment. Is this true? What has this country come to.

how did we end up here? are we so involved with the day to day grind, the rush for free time to enjoy friends and family that we have ignored our duty as employers of the largest company in the world to hold accountable the employees that work for us the people just like a parent whose child has grown and become more indipendent we give more responsiblity and less oversight on the assumption that being more responsible they would never bend or ignore the rules we have set forth yet here we are complaining of taxes, rules and laws that we...
