The U.S. economy is struggling though an "extremely modest" recovery that is proceeding "slower than hoped for," Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago President Charles Evans said Tuesday. Evans remains optimistic that a double-dip recession is not likely, but warned that the risk of a such an outcome has risen in the past few months. "Although there are some signs of general economic recovery and some evidence of home-price stabilization, we are certainly not out of the woods," Evans said to the Indianapolis Neighborhood Housing Partnership .
