In the very midst of the Paris bloodbath Friday night, Salon Magazine published a shameful piece suggesting that the blame for such horrific terrorist attacks falls on the “incendiary rhetoric” of America’s conservative movement and “right-wing media” for using strong language against progressives.Such rhetoric, Salon warned, “does not float in the ether of the public discourse, harmless and unacknowledged. No, it does in fact lead to action.”In a bizarre comparison, the author of the rambling essay, Chauncey Devega, said that conservative criticism of the Black Lives Matter movement necessarily leads to violent uprisings like the one in Paris, and therefore...

Saturday nights are for parties, friends, and trips to the movies. Politics? Hardly. Yet, the Democratic National Committee decided to schedule the second Democratic presidential debate for tonight in Iowa. Because of the stunning tragedy in Paris, the debate discussion has been modified to focus largely on foreign policy and national security. The RNC, unsurprisingly, believes the Democrats' decision to host a debate on the weekend is an obvious attempt to shield Hillary Clinton from any kind of challenge on her path to the primary. Here's Communications Director Sean Spicer's take on it: If a tree falls in the middle...

At the University of Missouri, student activists succeeded this week in forcing the resignation of President Timothy M. Tim Tai, a University of Missouri student, got a freelance assignment from ESPN to photograph the reaction of victorious activists at the tent city they set up in a public area of campus. As a matter of law, he had an indisputable First Amendment right to photograph events transpiring outdoors on public property. The Business Development Committee on Tuesday stalled the seven-year deal with a new franchise of the popular chicken chain for two weeks. "I think the airport also has a question about our reputation," said Robin Kniech, a Denver City Council Member, during Tuesday's meeting. If you are not, then you are probably as disgusted as I am with the outright lying that goes on in the name of "news reporting" from the cultural Marxists and other elements of the radical Left. There have been two times in our history in which Americans have been firsthand witnesses to the destruction of a republican government and its replacement with a fascist system. The first of these was in Germany in the 1920s and 1930s; the second we are seeing here and now. As you read Hitlerland, by journalist Andrew Nagorski, the parallels between the two sets of events can appear to be quite uncanny. Indeed, today's American Left, the progressives and the social justice warriors and the rest, bear an eerie resemblance to the Nazis who came to power out of the decaying...

Left-wingers and progressives in America are becoming insufferable, are they not? It's quite apparent that they have no desire to "live and let live," but want to force their delusions off onto everyone else. You will live, think, and do as the Left tells you, whether you like it or not. Even in the pettiest of way, they can't help themselves. In a civil, consensual society there exists an unspoken yet very real social contract which serves to make that society possible. No matter what disagreements we may have over politics, religion, or anything else, at the end of the day, we're part of the same society, and we deal with each other in a way that maintains the civility and stability of that society. At least that used to be the case. However, this civil consensus, which has been eroding for at least a decade, has pretty much broken down completely, much of it within the last few weeks. And...

If the United States were a "civilized country" like those in Europe, Tanya Cohen wrote for Thought Catalog, then Robertson, a reality show star on A&E's "Duck Dynasty," "would have been taken before a government Human Rights Tribunal or Human Rights Commission and given a fine or prison sentence for the hateful and bigoted comments that he made about LGBT people." House Republicans sued the Obama administration on Friday over its implementation of President Barack Obama's health care law, saying he had overstepped his legal authority in carrying out the program. GOP lawmakers filed the lawsuit in federal district court in Washington the morning after Obama announced unilateral executive actions to expand protections for millions of immigrants who came to the U.S. illegally. The Internal Revenue Service is used to being universally disliked every April 15. But this year, the widespread denunciations have started early, and for good reason. In November, the agency issued proposed new rules that are supposed to keep social welfare organizations from abusing their legal privileges by engaging in excessive electioneering. The effort came in response to complaints from Democrats about a 2012 surge in political spending by such tax-exempt groups, by the conservative Koch brothers and others to influence elections. The IRS wants to curb such efforts, and it doesn't display much concern about the likely effect on...

Christian baker in Colorado refused to bake a cake for a gay wedding. A judge is now ordering him to do so or face financial penalties. Surely there are plenty of bakers who would bake a cake for David Mullins and Charlie Craig, the gay men who wanted the cake. But they went to Jack Phillips of Masterpiece Cakeshop in Denver, CO. When Phillips declined because of his religious beliefs, Mullins and Craig went to the ACLU, which in turn complained to the state that Phillips was discriminating. There will be no accommodation between gay rights activists and those seeking...

This is very Orwellian: Definition #3 of fascism is "a person who...has extreme right-wing views." Evidently, those who favor smaller government and greater individual liberty are fascists.

Brandeis University on Monday announced the suspension of its decade-old partnership with Al-Quds University following a recent Nazi-style rally at the Palestinian school in Jerusalem. At the Nov. 5 rally, Al-Quds students wore black military gear, carried fake automatic weapons, gave the Nazi salute, and surrounded the main square of their campus with banners depicting images of martyred suicide bombers. While Brandeis has an unwavering commitment to open dialogue on difficult issues, we are also obliged to recognize intolerance when we see it, and we cannotand will notturn a blind eye to intolerance, Brandeis said in a press release. As...

This Fall, Harvard University Press will release The Collaboration: Hollywoods Pact With Hitler, by the 35-year-old historian Ben Urwand. Alexander Kafka previewed the book in The Chronicle Review. Urwand found that Nazi officials considered some American films ideologically usefulamong them Gabriel Over the White House (1933), The Lives of a Bengal Lancer (1935), Our Daily Bread (1934), and Mutiny on the Bounty (1935)and that the studios expressly marketed certain titles in that vein, Kafka writes. For instance, Gabriel Over the White House, an American fascist fantasia about a fed-up, divinely inspired president dissolving a chaotic Congress and whipping the...

Judicial Watch, Inc. on April 24, 2012 launched an investigation into the Trayvon Martin case based on reports that the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) had sent a secret team of peacekeepers to Sanflord, Florida, where Martin was shot on February 26, 2012 after wandering in a gated community after dark. George Zimmerman, a resident of the community and its neighborhood watch captain, is currently on trial for Martins death though he maintains he acted in self-defense. Records obtained by Judicial Watch in response to local, state and federal public records requests show that the so-called peacekeepers are part of...

Is Big Green running things in President Obama's Environmental Protection Agency? Wake up and smell the corruption. A virulent 2009 sue-and-settle lawsuit, WildEarth Guardians v. Jackson (as in Lisa Jackson, former EPA administrator) is an outrageous sweetheart deal rife with collusion and manipulation to create arbitrary regulations, along with the EPA takeover of state regulatory programs and a price tag of more than $2.5 billion -- all aimed against the domestic fossil fuel industry.

In a news cycle where the lack of transparency is revealed daily, it is refreshing when something previously opaque exposes its true motives. Such is the case for the Sierra Club and its desire to block oil and gas drilling. Ive written many times on environmental groups influence over use of public lands and how they often use claims of some endangered flora or fauna as cover for their efforts to block any beneficial economic development, such as mineral extraction or agricultural activity. They cry about some critter when in fact it is really about controlcontrol of public lands.
