A man walking his dog on a British Columbia beach this week made a grisly discovery: A foot in a shoe, along with part of a lower leg. Adding to the mystery is that it is the 13th foot to wash up on the Canadian province's coastline over the past decade. "Our early analysis suggests these are human remains and we will do further investigation and testing ... in the coming weeks," said Andy Watson, a spokesman for the BC Coroners Service, about the Thursday discovery. The remains included a tibia and fibula. The Coroners Service said all previous 12...

'I love having men at my feet,' says Hillary as she accidentally crashes wedding brunch and takes pictures with the groom and his friends Hillary Clinton accidentally crashed a wedding brunch this morning in Charleston, South Carolina - but she made it up the groom and his friends by posing for photos. 'I love having men at my feet,' Clinton said as the man of the hour, Joe Schreck, and his 10 groomsman kneeled around her for a group shot. Clinton's campaign photographer had instructed the men, who had just ordered a round of Bloody Marys at the bakery and...

The foot is the 13th to wash up on B.C.'s coastline since 2007 and 10 of those feet have been identified as belong to seven people. The coroner says that in all of the cases where feet have been identified either accident or suicide was involved. Sooke RCMP and the Coroner are investigating. It is too early to say if the situation is suspicious, police said. Disembodied feet come ashore occasionally on B.C.’s coast.

Day in and day out our hands and feet take a beating. Out of all our body parts they are perhaps the most used ones, making problems and issues that develop with them inevitable. Feet in particular are often overlooked and many of us will have to deal with calluses, cracked heels, toenail fungus, and dead skin at some point in our lives. These things can grow worse over time and it's best to treat them right away, before what was once a simple case turns into a nightmare of a problem. There are all sorts of gels, creams, sprays,...

A worker was caught on camera preparing shawarma with his feet, prompting public calls on Saudi authorities to punish the restaurant. But officials later denied the restaurant is based in the Gulf Kingdom and said it could be in Turkey. A picture showing the worker squeezing the shawarma meat on the bar with his feet with the help of two other workers was published on social networks in the Kingdom. “Social network users called for action against the restaurant and slammed those workers for abusing public health at a time when demand for restaurant food surges during Ramadan,” Sada newspaper...

The human foot in a white New Balance tennis shoe was found Tuesday morning on the shore at Centennial Park, just north of downtown.

Inside the long-awaited package, six pages of government paperwork dryly affirmed Carol Tapanila's anxious request. But when Tapanila slipped the contents from the brown envelope, she saw there was something more. "We the people...." declared the script inside her U.S. passport — now with four holes punched through it from cover to cover. Her departure from life as an American was stamped final on the same page: "Bearer Expatriated Self." With the envelope's arrival, Tapanila, a native of upstate New York who has lived in Canada since 1969, joined a largely overlooked surge of Americans rejecting what is, to millions,...

In the short time since Pope Francis became leader of the Catholic Church, his every move has been scrutinized for signs of what his plans could be for his rule. And while his focus on austerity and the world’s poor has excited many who thought the Church was too out of touch with reality, traditionalist Catholics have been devastated. Francis’ decision to wash the feet of two girls, including a Muslim, during a traditional Holy Thursday ritual “has become something of the final straw,” writes the Associated Press. For traditionalists, it was a clear sign that Francis has no...

When we started out on this journey of the feet, we weren’t really sure what we were going to find. We knew that while everyone unreasonably expects celebrity women to be perfect from head to toe, that’s unrealistic. It’s enough for us that they have style and grace, most, if not all, of the time. What we didn’t anticipate, though, was exactly whose feet didn’t seem like they had been so graceful. We love the celebrities on this list, but we are honestly wondering with all the money and resources that these women have access too, why are their feet...

OTTAWA, Ontario (AP) -- A severed human foot was mailed to the headquarters of Canada's Conservative Party and another body part was discovered when police intercepted a second suspicious package, police said Tuesday. Police were called shortly after a receptionist opened a blood-soaked box at the headquarters of Prime Minister Stephen Harper's party. The first officers to arrive saw what appeared to be blood stains on the package and immediately called in a special hazardous-material unit. When the specialists opened the package, police found the severed foot inside. Police said the package was addressed to the Conservative Party of Canada...

ScienceDaily (Feb. 16, 2012) — For years, biologists have been amazed by the power of gecko feet, which let these 5-ounce lizards produce an adhesive force roughly equivalent to carrying nine pounds up a wall without slipping. Now, a team of polymer scientists and a biologist at the University of Massachusetts Amherst have discovered exactly how the gecko does it, leading them to invent "Geckskin," a device that can hold 700 pounds on a smooth wall. Doctoral candidate Michael Bartlett in Alfred Crosby's polymer science and engineering lab at UMass Amherst is the lead author of their article describing the...

Another severed foot was found washed ashore in Canada over the weekend, bringing the total of mysterious feet found since 2007 to 13, the U.K. Daily Mail reports. A group of young campers discovered a size 12 men's hiking boot on British Columbia's Sasamat Lake. What separates this foot from the other 12 found in the British Columbia and Washington state was that it was found in fresh water, not salt water -- and it was found in a hiking boot, not a running shoe. Police said they do not suspect foul play and believe that the feet detached naturally...

Little Harper was saved from a certain death when a woman in Sanford, Florida, saw a man selling pit-bull puppies outside a Save-A-Lot holding a squirming trash bag. It is painful enough that I hesitate to put on shoes and it is difficult to walk. I've been using this heel balm ("Flexitol") the Missus came up with at Walgreens and it works fairly well on the worst of the cracks, but after the fact and it takes a good three days till it stops hurting. The cream is made in Australia, and the label says the main ingredient is concentrated urea. (No,...

The Snohomish County prosecutors office says that an 18-year-old Monroe woman stabbed a 19-year-old man after he teased her that her feet smelled. The Herald of Everett reports that the man was found by police with a steak knife sticking out of his back, buried a few inches in. His lung had collapsed. Officials say he'll recover from his injuries. Charging papers say that trouble started when Dallas Amber Smith was drinking and hanging out with friends and was challenged to do a back flip. When she took off her shoes to do the back flip, she was teased. Smith...

Greater stresses on joints than running barefoot or walking in high-heeled shoes observedNew York, NY, January 4, 2010 – Knee osteoarthritis (OA) accounts for more disability in the elderly than any other disease. Running, although it has proven cardiovascular and other health benefits, can increase stresses on the joints of the leg. In a study published in the December 2009 issue of PM&R: The journal of injury, function and rehabilitation, researchers compared the effects on knee, hip and ankle joint motions of running barefoot versus running in modern running shoes. They concluded that running shoes exerted more stress on these...

Somewhere in the Pacific Northwest there are several bodies missing their feet. Yet another sneaker-clad foot has washed ashore in British Columbia -- the eighth foot in two years, stumping authorities in both Canada and the United States. Seven of the feet, including the most recent foot, have been found in the waters of British Columbia. The other foot found off the coast of Port Angeles, Wash. Royal Canadian Mounted Police Cpl. Annie Linteau told ABCNews.com today that on all of the feet there is "no evidence of being severed or artificially removed." While Canadian authorities seem to be leaning...
