LOS ANGELES (AP) -- California prosecutors on Tuesday charged two anti-abortion activists who made undercover videos of themselves trying to buy fetal tissue from Planned Parenthood with 15 felonies, saying they invaded the privacy of medical providers by filming without consent. The charges against David Daleiden and Sandra Merritt of the Center for Medical Progress come eight months after similar charges were dropped in Texas. State Attorney General Xavier Becerra, a longtime Congressional Democrat who took over the investigation in January, said in a statement that the state "will not tolerate the criminal recording of conversations."

A recent report from the U.S. House of Representatives Energy & Commerce Committee claims that dozens of colleges and universities have procured aborted fetal tissue. The University of Wisconsin, Madison and the University of Michigan both defended the practice, saying they abide by legal requirements and use the tissue for life-saving research. A recent report from the U.S. House of Representatives Energy & Commerce Committee claims that dozens of colleges and universities have procured aborted fetal tissue. The report was compiled by a Select Investigative Panel established in October of 2015 after House members called for an investigation in response...

A Republican-run House panel created to investigate Planned Parenthood and the world of fetal tissue research urged Congress on Wednesday to halt federal payments to the women’s health organization. Democrats said the GOP probe had unearthed no wrongdoing and wasted taxpayers’ money in an abusive investigation reminiscent of the late Sen. Joseph McCarthy. The Republican recommendation was included in the special committee’s final report and was no surprise. The GOP released the 471-page document just 16 days before Donald Trump becomes president, at the start of a year in which many Republicans hope Congress will finally cut off federal funds...

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — A group of 25 New Mexico Republican lawmakers is calling on the University of New Mexico to halt research involving fetal body parts that have come from abortions. The group also requested in a letter to the board of regents that UNM suspend the transfer of fetal body parts to or from the university until administrators can prove they’re not violating the law that bans profiting from the sale of such material. The lawmakers also expressed concern that UNM may have improperly entered an agreement with Southwestern Women’s Options, one of a few clinics nationwide that provide...

Congressional Republicans are not backing down from their investigation of the Planned Parenthood abortion business and its sales of body parts of aborted babies. While Democrats want the investigation to end, Republicans have voted to double the budget of the probe, which has produced starting information related to the abortion industry’s sale of and research using aborted babies. The decision comes on the heels of a LifeNews report detailing how the University of Indiana was caught buying two brains of aborted babies for research from the University of Washington, potentially violating federal law. Here’s more: Over the objection of Democrats,...

Perhaps universities should begin teaching ethics again, or at least bioethics. In the course of her investigation into the sale of fetal tissue, illegal under federal law, U. S. Rep. Marsha Blackburn, R-TN, discovered a relationship between the University of New Mexico and a local abortion provider. Rep. Blackburn, who chairs a House Select Investigative Panel, wrote to the attorney general of the state, urging him to investigate further. She cc'd New Mexico Governor Susana Martinez on the letter. The section of the federal code "which forbids the transfer of fetal tissue for valuable consideration" also "requires that safeguards be...

The Iowa House passed a bill Wednesday to end the sale and trafficking of aborted babies’ body parts in the state, according to the Associated Press. Introduced in February, Iowa House File 2329 comes in response to the horrific undercover videos by the Center for Medical Progress showing Planned Parenthood employees selling aborted babies’ body parts. Legislators in several other states have proposed similar legislation. The bill would ban the trafficking and sale of aborted babies’ body parts, but it would allow women to donate tissue from stillborn or miscarried babies, as well as umbilical cord blood, placenta and amniotic...

Stephanie McKee says she has opposed abortion for years, but Saturday marked the first time she had ever attended a pro-life rally. Why now? It was the hidden camera videos, she said. “They just kept getting worse and worse,” said Ms. McKee as she stood outside the Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains, balancing an enormous anti-abortion sign with one hand and a cupcake given to her by a group of children in the other. “After I saw those videos, I thought, ‘I have to do something,’” said Ms. McKee. “I felt like I can’t be so complacent and just...

(JillStanek.com) UPDATE, 6:25 PM: Ahead of the full video release CMP has posted quotes from StemExpress executives, who say they ship whole heads, because neural tissue is “insanely fragile,” and that they work with nearly 100 clinics nationwide – half Planned Parenthood – with which they have a good relationship. They also say some abortion clinics they work with are unsanitary and they’ve “seen staph come out of clinics.” This afternoon Los Angeles District Court Judge Joanne O’Donnell lifted a temporary restraining order (TRO) that had been placed against The Center for Medical Progress after fetal tissue procurement company StemExpress...

A loss in court and increased public outrage over fetal parts trafficking has prompted StemExpress, to sever its ties with Planned Parenthood and recalibrate its public profile to one that is “predominately” focused — at least outwardly — on adult blood and tissue procurement. This news came in the same week that Operation Rescue obtained purchase orders that show the University of Massachusetts Medical School paid StemExpress a total of $29,000 for human fetal cadaverous tissue, (presumably harvested from Planned Parenthood abortions), for the purpose of creating “humanized” mice. StemExpress is a biotech company in Placerville, California, that has been...

I wanted to use our time tonight to directly deal with an attack launched on me today by the left and the media. A couple questions came in on this subject, so I want to address it head on. Today I was accused by the press as having done research on fetal tissue. It simply is not true. The study they distributed by an anonymous source was done in 1992. The study was about tumors. I won’t bore you with the science. There were four doctors' names on the study. One was mine. I spent my life studying brain tumors...

Ben Carson defended the use of fetal tissue for medical research Thursday, after a blog published excerpts of a 1992 paper describing work the neurosurgeon-turned-presidential candidate carried out using aborted fetuses. In an interview with the Washington Post, Carson called the revelation "desperate," and ignorant of the way medical research was carried out. "You have to look at the intent," Carson said before beginning a campaign swing through New Hampshire. "To willfully ignore evidence that you have for some ideological reason is wrong. If you’re killing babies and taking the tissue, that’s a very different thing than taking a dead...

Last week, it was revealed that Colorado State University had been purchasing fetal tissue through StemExpress, a company named as a buyer of Planned Parenthood’s aborted fetal body parts. Today, MediaTrackers reports that the University of Wisconsin-Madison has “repeatedly obtained human fetal tissue” through Advanced Bioscience Resources, another Planned Parenthood-associated California supplier mentioned by various PP employees in The Center for Medical Progress’s undercover videos. The research, conducted through UW’s McArdle Laboratory for Cancer Research, involved humanized mouse models…. Dr. Shannon Kenney and a team made up of mostly UW researchers published a report in 2012 outlining the results of...

Planned Parenthood is certainly the target, but its destruction is not the goal, any more than destroying ACORN was the true goal back in 2008. Destruction would be a happy side effect, but the true goal is to destroy the pathway for women to have access to legal and safe abortions. See more of our coverage on the misleading Center for Medical Progress videos here. http://rhrealitycheck.org/tag/center-for-medical-progress-video/ To understand exactly how the most recent Planned Parenthood sting was planned and coordinated, you must go back to 2013. Dr. Leon R. Kass, the Addie Clark Harding Professor Emeritus in the Committee on Social Thought and the College at the University of Chicago and former chairman of the President’s Council on Bioethics under former President George W. Bush, has written a report entitled “The Meaning of Life – In the Laboratory”. Kass discusses the morality surrounding the US government’s funding of “research on human embryonic stem cells, cells derived from early embryos produced by in vitro fertilization in assisted-reproduction clinics.” According to the report, the use of human embryos is justified by the advancements of science which demands that...

I have received a few requests from pro-lifers like Vicki:Can you provide some clarity to the Pepsi/cells from aborted babies controversy.  I cannot sort out whether this is valid or not. Yes and NoBottom line: There are no aborted embryonic or fetal cells in any of PepsiCo’s final products. But: Aborted cells are used in the development of artificial flavor enhancers by biotech company Senomyx, with which PepsiCo signed a four-year, $30 million agreement in 2010 for research and development. No Pepsi products containing Senonymx flavor enhancers should be expected until 2013.Senomyx’s disputed cell line is HEK-293, derived from the kidney...

The Wisconsin State Legislature is moving quickly on a bill to ban any sale or donation of fetal tissue. The legislation languished in the last two sessions, but is getting renewed momentum because of videos released showing top Planned Parenthood executives haggling about the price of parts from aborted babies. Walker enjoys Republican majorities in both the assembly and state senate, with a 63-36 assembly lead. Scott Walker already signed a bill banning abortions after 20 weeks, and would likely welcome the new ban of fetal tissue sales to burnish his national reputation among social conservatives as pro-life. The U.S....
