Note: The following text is a quote: Home » Briefing Room » Justice News Deputy Attorney General David W. Ogden Speaks at Project Gunrunner Press Conference HOUSTON ~ Thursday, October 1, 2009 Good morning. I am happy to be here today with ATF Acting Director Melson and our partners in state and local law enforcement to highlight the real successes of Project Gunrunner and announce our plans to build upon those accomplishments. This administration and this Justice Department have made protecting the integrity of our Southwest Border a top priority. That means stemming the tide of illegal drugs and illegal...

The Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN), the far left anti-gun group under investigation for voter fraud, could be eligible to receive millions, if not billions of dollars from the economic bailout bill that passed out of the House of Representatives. ACORN was an aggressive supporter of Barack Obama -- who had served as the group's legal counsel and even trained ACORN in "community organizing" -- in the presidential election. The Obama campaign even paid the group $800,000 for "voter turnout," the very activities that came under scrutiny by the FBI. In October 2008, ACORN's Las Vegas office...

WASHINGTON - The question isn't whether you'll be able to get a District permit to own a handgun. The question is: Will you be able to get a gun? District residents will be able to start applying for permits to keep a handgun in the home as early as July 17, according to the District's acting Attorney General Peter Nickles. But until a gun store opens in the city, anyone who wants to buy a gun is going to have a tough time. Since there are no gun stores in the District of Columbia, residents wishing to own a gun...

Did you know that Josh Sugarmann, of the Violence Policy Center, has a Federal Firearms License? And that the business address is that of The Violence Policy Center? You do now. Also, given the ATF’s recent crack down on FFLs, I wonder when the VPC’s last inspection was? And how many transfers they’ve done. If none, then that could mean they’re not a business and, per ATF, that is bad. If they have, they’re hypocrites. Said FFL exempts them from the DC handgun ban, as well.

Len Savage: ...In The Gang, we talked about how after a court case, US v. Wrenn, that the ATF reconsidered a couple of my products and by reclassification which is a handy little tool they have to lean on people on me who exercise their right to free speech. What wasn't talked about The Gang was that I had a phone call with the gentleman, Mr. Nixon, that we discussed in The Gang but what wasn't said is that we had a phone call right after the Wrenn trial where I was in no uncertain terms warned not to post...

The Second Amendment to the United States Constitution reads: "A well-regulated Militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed." www.Dictionary.com informs us that "infringe" means "to commit a breach or infraction of; violate or transgress ... " and further refers us to _Merriam-Webster's Dictionary of Law_: "to encroach upon in a way that violates law or the rights of another." The latter specifically cites the Second Amendment as an example of the word's usage. The word "infringe" also carries a connotation of sneaking up,...

The French Foreign Legion How to Get in There are 16 Legion recruiting centers in France, the most popular being Fort de Nogent in Paris. Just ask at the police station for the Legion Etrangere. The more focused head straight for Aubagne, just outside of the dirty Mediterranean port of Marseille. You will be competing with over 8000 other eager Legionnaire wannabe's for the 1500 slots available. East Europeans make up about 50 percent of the eager candidates these days. Candidates are tested for their intelligence and physical fitness, and special skills are a definite plus. If you just murdered...

Hi Everyone, I was hoping some of the more knowledgable -gun owning- FReepers out there might help me out with a question. I recently moved to Virginia from California. My sister lives out here and I would like to give her a pistol I bought in California last year. How do I legally transfer ownership of the pistol to her? I've put in a call to the local Asst Attorney General for the county (Fairfax), but was told to call back late this afternoon. In the meantime... Thanks in advance.

WASHINGTON — While Supreme Court nominee John G. Roberts Jr.'s views on abortion triggered intense debate on Capitol Hill on Wednesday, there is no mistaking where his wife stands: Jane Sullivan Roberts, a lawyer, is ardently against abortion. A Roman Catholic like her husband, Jane Roberts has been deeply involved in the antiabortion movement. She provides her name, money and professional advice to a small Washington organization — Feminists for Life of America — that offers counseling and educational programs. The group has filed legal briefs before the high court challenging the constitutionality of abortion. A spouse's views normally are...

Supreme Court nominee Judge John Roberts has made conflicting statements over the years on Roe v Wade - calling it "settled law" during his 2003 appellate court confirmation hearings but "wrongly decided" while he served as deputy solicitor general. There's no doubt, however, where his wife comes down on the hotbutton issue of abortion. "The role of his lawyer wife, Jane Sullivan Roberts, in Feminists for Life, a group dedicated to overturning Roe v. Wade, is . . . certain to raise liberal eyebrows," reports today's Boston Globe. In fact, Mrs. Roberts once served as executive vice president for the...

PALMDALE -- Two-time Emmy-winning actress Patricia Heaton was the guest of honor at the second grand opening of the anti-abortion in Antelope Valley Pregnancy Counseling Center, which received a ultrasound device donated by Heaton.Heaton, a star of the CBS series "Everybody Loves Raymond" and president of "Feminists for Life," donated five ultrasound devices to the Right to Life League last year to outfit five counseling centers, and the Palmdale center got the first. "We needed a miracle, and Patricia Heaton was that miracle," said clinic Director Marc Boileau. "We just want Mrs. Heaton to know that we took her sacrifice...

This fall, two Columbia students are on a mission to provide a voice for a largely underrepresented group: pro-life feminists. "Pro-Women/Pro-Life is as much about introducing feminism to the Church as introducing Pro-life to feminism," said Melisa Kenslea, BC '06 and co-founder of the group. In last week's Columbia Catholic Undergraduates meeting, Kenslea and Mary Kate Johnson, CC '06, presented the idea of a "Pro-Women/Pro-Life" group to their peers and Father Jacek Buda, head of at the Catholic Chaplaincy. The pair received a warm welcome from group leaders, which they said was refreshing to see. "I have to admit, some...

A representative of a pro-life women's group was edited out of an upcoming MTV documentary that is scheduled to air tonight on the youth-oriented music television station. Former Feminists for Life intern Natalie Nardelli was slated to appear in tonight's "Choose or Lose: Sex, Votes and Higher Power," one in a series of programs designed to educate young adults on political issues in the upcoming elections and to encourage them to vote. In an email to Nardelli, MTV defended its decision. "[T]he pro-life bites we ended up using were from an expert who was more representative of the mainstream objection...

I have a question about Class 1 FFL. If I obtain one, Can I sell guns to myself at a penny or do I even need to sell them to myself? I have been browsing sites such as gunbroker.com and I have found alot of good deals, But it may be cheaper for the 200$ fee for the FFL than to pay 25-35$ for each transfer to a local gunshop.

Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- Unlike many of her Hollywood friends, two-time Emmy winner Patricia Heaton, star of the hit comedy series "Everybody Loves Raymond," won't be attending Sunday's pro-abortion march in Washington. "Many of the celebrities on the list are my friends," Heaton explained, "but when it comes to championing abortion, we go our separate ways." "I find it impossible to subscribe to a philosophy that believes that the destruction of human life is a legitimate solution to a problem that is mostly social, economic and psychological," said Heaton. "In reality, most women 'choose' abortion because they believe they have...

Columnists Jackie Mason and Raoul Felder, in a recent American Spectator article, supported the creation of an American Foreign Legion.Mason, a stand-up comedian, and Felder, a stand-up attorney, wrote: "To be honest, we never cared much for the French, nor as they have made it very clear, did they care much for us, although if it wasn't for America they would be singing the "Horst Wesel" song at the Folies Bergčre and Wiener Schnitzel would be the specialty of the local McDonald's."Mason and Felder said they would sooner go to a square dance, or worse yet, a Karaoke bar, than...

Ellett Brothers, one of the largest firearm distribution companies in the U.S., has suddenly instituted a new policy for all firearms dealers who do business in any state which borders Kalifiornia! They are calling all licensed dealers who have accounts with them and DEMANDING that the dealers send them pics of the inside and out side of their stores. They are allowing dealers thirty days to provide them with the pics. There is NO federal law requireing anything like this, I do not know if they came up with this on their own, or in response to some effort of...

Washington, DC -- To change the abortion culture in the United States and around the world, the debate may have to be reframed and redirected with a focus on both the mother and unborn child. Recently, Serrin Foster, president of Feminists for Life of America, shared her thoughts on pro-life feminism and on trends in the abortion controversy. Her lecture, "The Feminist Case Against Abortion," was included in a 2001 book entitled, "Women's Rights." Q: Your name, Feminists for Life, strikes some as contradictory. What do you see as the connection between feminism and being pro-life? Foster: We are often...
