In March, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.) told a 3-year-old girl that her world was on fire, and the Internet went nuts. Now the girl's mom has joined Cruz's campaign. Cruz, speaking in Barrington, N.H., said President Obama and former secretary of state Hillary Clinton's foreign policy had set the world on fire. "The world is on fire?" then-3-year-old Julia Trant immediately asked. "Yes, the world is on fire," Cruz said, looking at the girl. "Your world is on fire." Four members of a Cal Fire helicopter crew were burned Saturday when they were overrun by flames in the initial attack and are recovering at UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento. Berlant said two had been moved out of the burn unit. The fire consumed the beloved Harbin Hot Springs, where few buildings were left standing Monday, and damaged cooling towers, communication equipment and power distribution lines at The Geysers geothermal energy complex. It means having the strength to remove a poor employee when it is the right thing to do.

This comes on the heels of two consecutive severe seasons in 2013 and 2014, the former of which was the most destructive wildfire season in the state’s history.

Davon Flunory, 20, and his friend Kevin Ravenell, 27, leaped into action after spotting Cipriani Lundy and her kids, 4-year-old Julian and 15-year-old Imani, screaming for help in the window of their smoke-filled third-floor apartment in the Eleanor Roosevelt Houses in Bedford-Stuyvesant. “My first instinct is to call the Fire Department,” recalled Flunory, who was visiting a relative in the building when the...
