**SNIP** The climate march on Sunday with 400,000 people on the streets of New York along with demonstrations around the country and the world marked a new stage in the political radicalization of big sections of American society, particularly a big section of young people. Despite the lack of a clear program or way forward for the movement being articulated by its organizers, there was an enormous thirst for answers and evidence of a widespread anti-corporate and even anti-capitalist consciousness. This was reflected, for example, in the thousands of homemade signs against corporate domination. In recent months, we’ve seen determined...

I have always thought that a debate, besides being an arena where multiple opposing views may be voiced and argued publicly, is a forum to showcase ones skill in the art of diplomacy. If Vice President Biden's behavior during last night's debate is, even remotely, indicative of how he deals with allies or opponents that have differing views at the international level, I am more surprised than ever that we have ANY friends at all left in the world at large.

Backstage can be something of an inner sanctum at a presidential debate: even though they are appearing on live television before millions of Americans, the candidates are used to having their clubhouse hermetically sealed from the public before and after they take the stage. That was not the case for the six major Republican candidates who participated in the Fox News Channel forum on Saturday night when the network invited a New York Times reporter to roam behind the scenes as they took turns before a panel of conservative state attorneys general and the Fox News host Mike Huckabee. January 6th, 2001 saw the launch of The Voice of Principled Conservatism - Free Dominion. FORT WORTH – An increasingly sexualized consumer society and inadequate funding for social services are major reasons why more young girls are being pressed into sexual slavery, a human-trafficking expert told a Fort Worth audience Thursday. Fishnet-clad dolls, "porn star" T-shirts, Juicy brand jeans and the mainstreaming of the word "pimp" all are signs of "demonic forces" at work in American culture, said Alesia Adams, the Salvation Army's Atlanta-based human trafficking coordinator. Suffice it to say that I was not very hopeful about the Saddleback Civil Forum on the Presidency held at the California megachurch last Saturday night. In the first place, I am not really comfortable with the idea of hosting such a politically charged event in a church. Secondly, the advance publicity about the event touted it as a platform for a kind of "third way"...

O.K., sorry for the vanity but I have a concern. This Saturday night, McCain and Obama do a forum together at Saddleback Church, where Rick Warren is the Pastor. This can be crucial, relative to the religious vote in this presidential campaign. Many think the smooth-talking Obama is going to come off great and leave John McCain, who is not one to talk about regligion, looking like a dolt. Many believe this will be a huge opportunity and advantage for Obama. I wish to heck Rick Warren would have left well-enough alone. He's just got to have some "spotlight". This...

Hello Folks: It's May 1st and I'd like to ask you for a little help. The current Freepathon started on April 1st. Here we are a month later and the total given or pledged is sputtering toward the finish line. I appreciate everyone's constributions to date. It's impressive that we come together like this to support the forum. Despite the great job that has been done, I still think we can do better. We are still thousands from the goal. I'd like to put a big dent in the amount remaining to be covered. Will some of you please join...

How do I subscribe to a Forum/Topic? I have several Forum/Topics that show up on my sidebar, which I can rearrange off the Configure Sidebar link. But I'll be danged if I can figure out how to add any more Topics to this list. I just realized that there is a "tech-news" Topic/Forum that seems to overlap with the "computers-chat" Topic/Forum, and I'd like to add it to my sidebar. But I can't figure out how to do that.
